I wonder if that was you witnessing Bowser dying or if he was actually a Dry Bones... like in the original where you could see Bowser's true form if you fireblalled him to death, only now you see his true form regardless. I wonder...
I'm a bit disappointed that the ax has been replaced by a button...

That part with Bowser apparently burning to a skeleton really freaked me out when I first saw it... it reminded me of Itchy and Scratchy. 0_o But I suppose it might not really matter if it isn't the real Bowser. Otherwise it would be... really weird... if Bowser had that happen to him and then come back later as if nothing happened.

Here's a quote from the Wikipedia article:

"IGN released footage on May 4th that showed a boss battle between Mario and Bowser. The concept was basically the same as Super Mario Bros' boss battles and the music was a rearrangement of the Super Mario Brothers 3 boss music. Another point of note was the fact that when Bowser was defeated, he writhed in the lava below him, losing his skin the second time he surfaced. It has been speculated that since the Bowsers in worlds 1-7 of Super Mario Bros. are fake, this may not be the real Bowser either; and that he may return as a "Dry Bones" variant Bowser later in the game."

Sorry to double-post, but I found new info about this game!

[Edit: Oh, gosh, I'm stupid. That video was REALLY old news.]

Someone on GameFAQs posted the names of the bosses in the game, right out of the strategy guide!

SPOILER WARNING!

"Bowser Jr. (Every single mini castle)

Bowser (W1)

Mummipokey (W2)

Cheepskipper (W3)

Mega Goomba (W4)

Petey Piranha (W5)

Monty Tank (W6)

Lakithunder (W7)

Skeletal Bowser (W8)

Bowser Jr. + Ressurrected Bowser (W8)"

Well, I guess that answers anyone's questions about the skeleton Bowser. I don't know if that really bothers me that much anymore. After all, at least it's not mindless, gruesome cartoon violence like Itchy and Scratchy is. And Bowser must be alive at the end of the game, anyway.

I guess Bowser really does die at the end of each game. Only to be resurrected again for the next outing. He must have some sort of monopoly on the 1-up mushroom market.

Perhaps the Bower-battles at each castle are a throwback to the original SMB. And when you lose a life, you hear an updated version of the music that plays when you die in the original SMB. What I'd like to see are screenshots from Worlds 4, 6, 7 and 8. One more thing, have you seen this big giant, purple pirinah that swims around in one of the underwater
levels?

I don't see how you can avoid that thing.

Could be an end-of-level boss, so you have to fireball it a set amount of times. Or, if it just passes, hide behind a pipe or something. :\
If my son could decimate Lego cities with his genitals, I'd be [darn] proud.

Isn't that Unagi from SM64?

If you mean the moray eel, I believe so.

Steven77571: This may be spoilerific, but like I mentioned above, Bowser isn't at the end of every level.

True, cantthinkofaname, there are no items that make Mario fly, but he can indeed fly. I dunno if it's really a spoiler or not, but just in case, PM me for more.
