Title: Brawl hacking gets better.
Post by: Wiiario on August 31, 2008, 01:00:45 PM
I recently checked a blog I go to frequently and there was a link to an amazing hacking project for Brawl.
How'd you like Dry Bowser? Or Phazon Samus? Or Mr. L (Who ever he is.)?! These could all soon be possible! So far their texture hacks are, at the moment, unavailable to the public. But they are planing to find a way to distribute them when they have enough completed (About two for each character.). So far their efforts are simply amazing, one of the best texture projects I've EVER seen.
Check out their Brawl page here! (http://www.ghosteo.net/tex_hack/)

Note* They do NOT plan to use homebrew to distribute these hacks.

How else would they?

How else would they?

I......... Don't know. They may have no choice. But they are taking shots and uploading videos, so they MUST have a way of doing it.

So how long until we get Krystal (do a skin for Fox) or King K. Rool (do a skin for... maybe King Dedede, he's big enough) out of this?

Shadow Mario looks pretty creepy. You know, with the no-pupils thing.

Yes, King K. Rool with no teeth, a beanie and a big hammer throwing Kirby enemies. What we've all been waiting for. But I guess that makes as much sense as Phoenix Wright using PSI...

I won't bother. I play with my characters in their default costumes. Any other way and it feels like... "Who are you? Oh, you stole Fuel's shirt, Ness! But why? And what happened to your hat, the hat you've worn since birth... I thought it meant a lot to you."

But...but...I love Ness's Mr. Saturn shirt!

Of course, I'm just saying I wouldn't care to use them often.

Actually, wouldn't the textures have to replace some that are already in the game?

This makes me wonder if they can change other textures, such as levels and items. Imagine what could be done!

Yeah, I saw this a day or two ago... sheer awesomeness. Granted, some of those are kind of pushing it (Dr Wario? Okaaay...), but I think Dry Bowser and Fierce Deity Link look the best.

Yes, they do. You can see in the videos that the big character image has the original alt still on.

Yeah, some of those look really pathetic, but the Shadow the Hedgehog looks awesome.

I really wanted a white Yoshi in Brawl.

If this gets easy enough, crappy recolored-sprite comics will have some serious competition.

No one has said anything about Meat Grinder R.O.B? That's one of their best!

They also have some move swamp stuff, which is pretty amazing. (I did some stuff on Melee and recorded the results. PM if you want the document.)

The PW one saddens me. I mean, it looks nothing like him apart from the suit. And thats it. The shadow one is pretty good though. Dry Bowser too.

I liked Metal Sonic a lot more than Shadow, but that's just due to character opinion, I guess.. Dry Bowser and Fierce Deity were also well done, and I would use Mr. L if they worked on it a bit. Mewcario and "Gary Oak" are just kind of pathetic, and "Invader Zim" just gives me nightmares.

Meat Grinder R.O.B. was easily the best thing there was to see--it was clever, creative, well-done and detailed, and playing as it wouldn't necessarily defy logic. Then we have Phoenix Wright, Jimmy Neutron and Zim with PSI. Very convincing. And I found at least three things wrong with BLUE--his given name, his shirt color, and the fact that he has a Master Ball when RED is the one who is given the only one in Kanto at the time, to the point that Silph's CEO calls it a prototype.

Sucks that the FAQ says they won't make any naked characters. I wanted naked Kirby.

Uhhhhh.... ' *_* I... Don't know why you want Kirby, I don't wanna know why you Kirby. But if your looking for Kirby.... being natural, I suggest Google.
(I'm not doing that! Awwwww... I've got grossed out Kirby images in my head now!)

You do realize that Kirby doesn't have any clothes in the first place, right?

This is just plain win. Shadow, Shadow Mario, Meta Vader, Dry Koopa, Fierce Deity - man, all these awesome new texture swaps rock! Heh, I bet they'll do Boshi eventually, if all the SMRPG fans start coming over there and petitioning for him. :P

One thing though: Metroid Prime Zero Suit Samus is CREEPY as DUKAR. That has to be one of the most utterly insane things I've ever seen.

I bet they could do Toad.. Do they have a suggestion form somewhere??

There's a difference between changing a character's textures and changing a character model.

Yeah.. I saw the FAQ they had after I asked that.. Way to pay attention, Toad. Geeze! (/talking to myself)

I really wanted all the Yoshi colors in Brawl.
