I feel incredibly stupid for asking this, but here goes:

How exactly do college/university courses "work"? Like, is there a specific number of courses you're expected to take each year, or are you meant to take just one course, which is somehow stretched to six or seven hours? For that matter, how long is the average college class? We've been urged to send in our applications before school recommences in January, and it's worrisome that the website through which I'm applying offers no answers.
