The mighty Hip Tanaka has returned, courtesy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/ssbb). The Smash Bros. Dojo site (http://www.smashbros.com) recently updated with a special remix (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music15.html) of the themes from Donkey Kong (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/dk-arcade).
One of Tanaka's first responsibilities at Nintendo was in composing the music for Donkey Kong (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/dk-arcade). He went on to compose for a variety of Nintendo titles, including Wrecking Crew (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/wc), Metroid, Super Mario Land (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/sml), Mother, and Dr. Mario (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/drm-nes). Tanaka left Nintendo in 1998 and went to work at Creatures, composing music for the Pokemon series and games; he became president of of Creatures in 2000. This remix represents the first work Tanaka has done "directly" for Nintendo in several years, although he has been connected to the company via Creatures and Pokemon.
Go listen to Tanaka's remix of his early work! http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music15.html (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music15.html)

Wow. But this came out days ago. Still, I never knew about him.

Didn't this already get covered in another thread?

Yes. However, it's possible that there are people who only check Game Blog (or its RSS feed (http://feed://www.themushroomkingdom.net/rss/blog/)) and not the Fungi Forums.

Never knew the man. Also, fun fact: No matter how many base beats and sythesizations you add to the original Donkey Kong theme, it still sucks.

Aye. And nothing can save the Donkey Kong 64 Rap. The best Donkey Kong stuff... all came from the Donkey Kong Country series. And we're getting Bramble Blast. Remix or not, surely they can't screw that up.
