Like I said, I didn't intend on buying it either, but I know lots of people did and it's the principle that counts.

Eh, pirating and imports FTW.
Power to SB!  I had no intent on buying it either, but I would've considered getting it if the reviews were good.  This is why I'm thinking about getting a PS2.  I'm still a Nintendo girl, and I probably always will be, but it's been an aggravating 4th quarter 2008 for us loyals.

That guy down the page has it right. Why haven't they localized Soma Bringer?
That was a joke.

Every time I hear that name, I think Brave New World.

Did you know there's a real drug called Soma now?
That was a joke.

In some small way, I suppose.

Yes.  Now.  Kingdom Hearts.

Don't bother with the sequel though. The whole thing feels shallow and scripted and the focus is suddenly neither on Disney or Final Fantasy; it's on all the new original characters.

I got that feeling too, but I still like it.  And if you play the first one through, you won't rest until you see the cliffhanger ending resolved.

Kingdom Hearts is very low on the List of Games For Which You Need to Buy a PS2.
That was a joke.

Ordinarily this is where I would speak out against Kingdom Hearts, but I get the feeling Kojinka would really dig the Disney stuff.

I saw Sly Cooper for $10 at Best Buy.  Is that a really good game?

Meh. I had no intent on buying it and one game's not the end of the world, so it doesn't bother me.

Dude, best (un?)intentional pun ever.

I saw Sly Cooper for $10 at Best Buy.  Is that a really good game?

Here's where I'd be all sarcastic and such, but, really, yes, it is awesome. Buy it.

WarpRattler's List of Recommended PS2 Games (note: he has not fully played some of these, but got a good enough impression from what he did play to suggest them; these games are marked with a single asterisk, and other people may want to give their opinions regarding them; also note that some of these games were also on the GameCube and you might already have/have had them so just ignore any of those suggestions if you do/did):

Katamari Damacy
Shadow of the Colossus*
Amplitude
Fantavision
Final Fantasy XII*
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King**
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness***
Gradius V
R-TYPE Final
Soulcalibur II (or III)
Viewtiful Joe
Resident Evil 4
Xenosaga*

**Only if you want a hardcore JRPG.
***I've actually only played the DS version. Depending on how you view extras such as touchscreen control, portability, Etna Mode (also in Afternoon of Darkness, the PSP version), and bonus bosses compared with drawbacks such as the smaller screen, you may want that version instead of the PS2 version. Either way, though, it's a good game.

Please note that I'm not recommending any games, such as DDR, Guitar Hero, or Taiko Drum Master, that require extra peripheral(s), regardless of whether they come with the peripheral(s) or not - many of these games are rhythm games, so if you don't like those, you don't need to worry about that. I'm also not recommending Kingdom Hearts, though I agree with Lizard Dude that you'd probably like it because of the content.

I'll see how much I have in my checking account.  If I have enough, I might get a PS2 this week.
