Forum Games / I'm starting a battle network on forum #7
« on: April 06, 2002, 07:26:05 PM »
I finally got it all set up, and hopefully this one doesn't go down the drain too.

Here's how it works:

There are four teams:Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Bowser. First pick a team to be on. In battles, two teams fight each other with an equal amount of players(1v1, 2v2).

New members can pick three normal attacks and one special. All the attacks do the same damage, but you put the effect and the number by it(+1A means it attacks with 1 more power than your normal ones) FP cost is as follows(for conditions, the number is the number of turns.)

FP = number * 3

Each new member starts with these stats
Level:1
Max HP:10
Max FP:10
Attack:2
Defense:0
Coins:3

Each raised level, both Max HP and FP go up by 2, and you can either put 5 more on either, or raise either attack or defense. You also learn a new special.

Every 100 EXP you get gains you a level. EXP for winning is as follows. Round fractions up.

EXP = (opponent's level / your level) * 50

You also get coins equal to your opponent's level.

Items: You can carry up to three items for a battle, one use each. Once you buy it in the shop, you can carry it in battle any time you want. You cannot carry two or more of any item into battle. This is an item description in the shop.

Item:Price - Description

Battles: Battles can take place in a certain scene(forest, town, castle). Every member of the battle must take their turn at most one day after their last turn, otherwise it is lost.

It took me a while to come up with this battle system, although close to Paper Mario's, so I sure hope it works.

Mario is robbing the Mushroom Bank

Mario:Hey, Mushhead, put em in the bag
Teller 1:How about a Star instead?
Mario:Shut the h*ll up and put it in.
Luigi:Marios gone bad!!
Mario:Gimme the money!
Teller 2:Make me!
Mario:Dont think you heard that one. I said GIMME THE MONEY, D*MN IT!
(He puts 1000 coins in)
Mario:All right, Luigi, lets blow this joint!
Luigi:Hey, why does your hat have a "W" on it?
Mario:Uhhh..

Mario Chat / MB clone ready for download
« on: March 28, 2002, 04:39:21 PM »
I got my game on an FTP

ftp://www.hoodak.com/pub/Games/

In this test release you can play 2 levels of single player(until I can get more enemies), and if you have a friend you can try multiplayer, where you can throw each other and try to kill the enemy first.

Single player will never be very good but I want to make multiplayer as good as I can. In the next test release you may see more enemies(if I can find some usable 16x16 MB enemy sprites), and maybe even Fire Mario!

What's everyone's favorite Mario item?
Mine would have to be the POW block.

Mario Chat / Mario computer game under development

I'm making a Mario Bros. clone based on the SMB3 battle game. I haven't got very far on it, and I can't find a good MIDI for the music. With luck, it will have pickup and throw support, although right now I'm having problems with sprite collisions. Email me if you want the latest test program of it. It requires at least a 300 Mhz processor though.
