Forum Games / Reverse Caption Game
« on: October 19, 2008, 04:14:30 PM »
Post a response, caption, or observation to a hypothetical picture. The next person then has to find a picture that suits that response/caption/observation and continue the cycle.

"That looks painful."

Video Game Chat / The Gamer's Bill of Rights
« on: October 16, 2008, 05:11:31 PM »
I don't know how many people are familiar with this--heck, I wasn't until now--but there's a "Gamer's Bill of Rights". Well, it's not like it's some super-official thing (it was penned by PC publisher/developer Stardock), but it still makes some good points. It was recently brought into light on account of a few revisions, so here you go:

1. Gamers shall have the right to return games that are incompatible or do not function at a reasonable level of performance for a full refund within a reasonable amount of time.

2. Gamers shall have the right that games they purchase shall function as designed without defects that would materially affect the player experience.

3. Gamers shall have the right that games will receive updates that address minor defects as well as improves gameplay based on player feedback within reason.

4. Gamers shall have the right to have their games not require a third-party download manager installed in order for the game to function.

5. Gamers shall have the right to have their games perform adequately if their hardware meets the posted recommended requirements.

6. Gamers shall have the right not to have any of their games install hidden drivers.

7. Gamers shall have the right to re-download the latest version of the games they purchase.

8. Gamers whose computers meet the posted minimum requirements shall have the right to use their games without being materially inconvenienced due to copy protection or
digital rights management.

9. Gamers shall have the right to play single player games without having to have an Internet connection.

10. Gamers shall have the right to sell or transfer the ownership of a physical copy of a game they own to another person.

Of course, most people here probably have Wiis, so most of these won't apply.

I didn't know where to post this or if it even deserved a thread. I just thought it was really quite interesting and I wanted to share it.

Fan Creations / LADX/OoS/OoA Recolorizations
« on: October 07, 2008, 05:46:17 PM »

Technically, I started this a long time ago, but my work was destroyed (or at least lost somewhere where's it's not worth finding) when the old family computer crashed. Starting from scratch on my dad's laptop, I remade my work and then some.

Credit goes to Bruce Juice and Ness Zoogapop/Crooked Yoshi of Spriters Resource for ripping the original sprites (though I may have forgotten somebody...)

Video Game Chat / Mother 3 Fan Translation Finished!
« on: September 28, 2008, 10:14:10 PM »
From the dedicated folks of the Starmen team, the long-awaited Mother 3 fan translation has been thoroughly, well, translated!

There's a few months of testing left before it's 100% ready to actually play, though.

Video Game Chat / The Kirby Game You Never Knew
« on: September 23, 2008, 08:34:17 PM »
Kid Kirby

Shock and awe!  Apparently, the devs behind Uniracers were set to collaborate with Nintendo on a SNES game starring, well, a really young Kirby. Some Lost Bytes-esque sprites and such at the link. Discuss!

Video Game Chat / October 2

A few links.

Maybe you've heard, maybe not. Well, either way, Nintendo's got some sort of press conference/whatever set for October 2. Will it be some real dirt on upcoming, great titles or another E3 2008? You know which way I lean, but discuss anyway!

General Chat / Bad Covers
« on: September 11, 2008, 04:43:30 PM »
Covers of anything are, of course, make or break. They're the first thing someone sees when the faintest consideration of a purchase enters their head, and it is therefore vital they make a good impression. So it is odd that there are so many downright terrible covers for videogames, movies, albums, and the like. Post your "favorite" ones here.

Recently, albeit indirectly, introduced to me by a friend, what is widely regarded as the worst album art ever (no, you don't get to see it straight up. You must earn it).

General Chat / 2012: The Truth!
« on: September 02, 2008, 08:39:50 PM »
An overview.
A more in-depth look.

I know there's sort of been threads about this before, but... I think this pretty much puts the issue to bed. Discuss!

Fan Creations / SML2/Wario Blast Colorizations
« on: August 28, 2008, 05:37:40 PM »

It's been a while, but here's another colorization! (not that any of you were really on the edge of your seats waiting for another one...) The primary six pics are the map screens of Super Mario Land 2, with the Game Over Screen of Wario Blast thrown in. Credit goes to Biggoron and MechaV, respectively, of Spriter's Resource for ripping the original sprites.

Also, I have a colorization of the overworld map (from SML2, of course). This, among other things, was a "project" I started a while back that got erased when my old comp officially had to be "put down". When I went to restart it, so to speak, the sprite sheet was a slightly different (things come and go like that on the internet) one--by someone else, I'm assuming. Anyway, credit goes to A.J. Nitro of Spriter's Resource for the ripping.

General Chat / My Rocks
« on: July 05, 2008, 01:09:57 PM »

My dad loves to travel and we manage to make enough money as a family to do so. Thus, I got this idea. I have taken several rocks and written my name (Trevor White) on one side and the name of a continent on the other (in the case of the United States, I have Eastern and Western US. Antartica is absent because I ran out of decent rocks). I have been to many of the continents on these rocks already, but I think I will again in the future. When I go to one of these places, I will leave a rock and take a picture of its location. Then, not only will my name be literally all over the world, but others can seek out my rocks and maybe do the same thing themselves!
