You've probably all heard about this by now, but... yeah. Discuss.

General Chat / Favorite Public Sinks
« on: May 23, 2008, 05:03:26 PM »
First of all, this idea popped into my head way before the glut of toilet threads swept across the FF. That being said, when you walk into your local restaurant bathroom, park "restroom facility", or school "BOYS"/"GIRLS", which kind of sink do you prefer when it's hand-washing time?

I'm an automatic sink man, myself.

Video Game Chat / "The Message of Majora's Mask"
« on: May 12, 2008, 06:52:57 PM »
This is a very intriguing--and obviously well thought-out--article that seeks to tell the backstory of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It was already a game with an impressive story to tell, but this piece goes above and beyond to deliver a fairly plausible series of theories that blows all other infamous "Zelda plot explanations" of the water.

If you're one of those people, though, that doesn't like to read page after page of analyses of the slightest polygonal details, then shy away.

Fan Creations / Oracle Games Finale Colorizations
« on: May 02, 2008, 05:17:45 PM »

This is the most recent installment in a series of colorizations I have done over the years (which you may or may not have seen, as I put some in their own threads and others in the now-defunct "TMK Art Thread"). I never beat Oracle of Ages or Seasons, so I'd never seen these prior to editing them (spoilers!), but I believe that they show up when you beat the "linked" game. Also included are some other assorted in-game sprites.

Credit goes to "desgardes" of The Spriter's Resource for ripping the <a href="http://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo/zelda/oracle/display.php?file=seasonsrip.png" >original sprite sheet[/url].

Fan Creations / Spear Guy Mask
« on: April 27, 2008, 09:42:20 PM »

...Or whatever those little Shy Guy natives from Yoshi's Island were called. Three things about this mask: One; sculpting isn't really a hobby of mine (though posting this has made me start thinking about it...)--this was a thing I did for school. Two; when I say I did it for school, I mean when I was in seventh grade, so it's not as good as it might be if I tried making it again today. Three; it broke in half at some point, which is why there's a giant crack going down the center of it (it was kind of hard holding it together).

I mean, the only reason I posted this is because it's Mario-related, it was lying around, and I finally managed to get ahold of my dad's camera and take all the TMK-worthy pics I've been meaning to.

Mario Chat / A Helpful Chart

Somebody went through the trouble of quantifying just how well the myraid of ways to race in Mario Kart Wii--both in mode of transportation and control--stack up against each other!

Shocking... Granted, this probably wasn't the most scientific test in the world, but still...

Forum Games / Movesets
« on: March 21, 2008, 12:31:45 PM »
Here's where you can post movesets--complete or incomplete--for any character/person/thing you want, period, if they were theoretically in a Smash Bros. game. It can be someone mildly plausible, like Ridley or Geno, or someone... not, like the Grinch or Donald Duck.

Me personally, I can't come up with anything at the moment. I'm just curious what you guys'll think up.

General Chat / "Hey, you kinda remind me of..."
« on: March 16, 2008, 06:19:11 PM »
Are there any people you know who resemble--slightly or strikingly--celebrities and/or other people in general? If at all possible, refrain from posting any names or pictures, as that seems to be a good way to end up on some Fox News report on cyberbullying.

Me, personally, my life's full of lookalikes:

-Girl who reminds me of Jim Davis/Garfield for some reason.
-Lesbian who makes me think of Meat Loaf.
-Two chicks that look like Whos (I wish I was kidding).
-One of my friends looks like John Lennon/Harry Potter/a crackhead.
-Both of another friends's girlfriends have reminded me of Trinity.
-The aforementioned another-friend in question often brings Hayden Christen-Anderson to mind.

Yes, it's the "you have two cows" jokes. If you feel like making some up, or you've heard one before that's pretty good, just post them here (some videogame related ones to get you started: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/You_have_two_cows/24).

General Chat / Mondegreens
« on: February 27, 2008, 10:09:13 PM »
Ever have any particularly weird/funny mondegreens? (look it up on Wikipedia if you don't know what they are) That's really all I have to say about this one, I guess... Except for the fact that I have confused "then she lit up a candle" in Hotel California as "then she lit up Nintendo" or "then she lit up akindo" for my whole life until somewhere around a few months ago.

Alright, you know what this is for. If you think we've beaten a dead horse long enough, then alright, but if you've still got a few more pictures up your sleeve (luigalaxy, you're welcome to keep trying), then go ahead.

General Chat / Travels
« on: February 07, 2008, 07:08:06 PM »
Anybody gone anywhere interesting? Lately? A few years back? At all? Hey, if you've left the borders of your town, state, or country, and have a tale to tell, share it here (pics welcome!).

Me, personally, my dad's a huge travel buff. And, (I don't mean to brag here... really) since we're somewhat wealthy, I've been to (in no particular order)...

-Canada (for a day-and-a-half, really)
-France (with a holdover at Spain en route)
-California/Disneyland (numerous times)
-NYC (family there)
-India (brief pit stop in Germany)
-A bunch of mostly boring mid-US states on a road trip (but there was Mt. Rushmore, the Grand Canyon...)
-Florida, the Bahamas, part of Mexico, and a few other islands during a Disney Cruise (hey, the movies might be for kids, but the cruises.. pwnage).

My brother, dad and aunt went to South America and Antartica two Decembers ago, but I opted out... just cause, I guess (and then while I was home I was grounded and there was a power outage).
I'll be going to Hawaii, eventually--I've got a bunch of shirts from there because, like, everyone in my family has been there except me. Also, there's the possibility of Easter Island and Australia in the future.

General Chat / Nicknames
« on: January 25, 2008, 07:41:25 AM »
What are some other names some people tend call you (in real life, not the internet)? I know not everybody gets saddled with some weird alias that replaces their actual name (like in the movies), but you've probably been called by a least a shortened version of your name (unless, of course, it can't be shortened).

I've actually not had any serious nicknames beyond just a shortening of my name. There's this kid who always calls me "Sandals", as I wear them exclusively, but he's the only one (I suspect he wants it to catch on, but it's just really irritating).

Video Game Chat / Industry Lunacy
« on: January 12, 2008, 05:09:38 PM »
For all the games they produce and represent, the heads of the videogame industry have said and do say some phenomenally stupid things. Be they overblown salespitches, grossly innacurate statements, or just plain bizarre ramblings, there's always something to shake our heads at. So, basically, what do you think are some of the top dumb things that have come out of the mouths of videogame up-and-ups? Post a direct quote if you want, or just paraphrase.

"Well, I think a lot of people who bought the Wii are not necessarily the types of people who are interested in playing that kind of game. And a lot of the people who would want to play it [due to chronic shortages of the console] can't find a Wii! But mostly, I think it's that there are fewer and fewer people who are interested in playing a big role-playing game like Zelda."
--Shiguru Miyamoto, responding to low Japanese sales of Twilight Princess

Yeah. ...You know what? Just... just... yeah. Okay, yeah......
