Well, now there's the Classicgaming.com forums to draw away potential posters.

I haven't looked around these boards for ages...

No, no, no...
Once you hit the switch block in the room with all the blocks, a door will appear a few spaces to the left of where the switch block was, on the small platform made of two grey blocks.  Go through that door to reach a room with two pipes; go down the vertical one to get a Tanooki suit.
Once you have the Tanooki suit, just fly around in the checkered-floor room; there's a pipe somewhere off in the left side.  (It's not very easy to find, but it's there!)  Go up that pipe to reach Boom-boom.

That giant Phanto in the SMA screenshots looks like the sort of thing that was in BS SMB USA on the Satellaview (when you get it to work properly).

Maybe Nintendo is going to recycle some of its old Satellaview games into GBA games?

Hey, people are posting here still!

In that case, has anyone else seen Vs. Dr. Mario?

Well, no one seemed interested in running BS SMB USA under SNES9X 1.29, either.
I guess not enough people read this forum...

Okay, judging from yesterday's update, I guess I'm not the only one who's heard of BS SMB USA... Unfortunately, it looks like you missed that line about SNES9x 1.26, Deezer.

Under all emulators except SNES9x *1.29 and earlier*, BS SMB USA doesn't work right; you can tell right away because the timer in the upper right reads 18 instead of 85.
The timer actually triggers all kinds of nifty events, including character changes; most events are signalled beforehand by one of those panels in the upper corners of the screen.  The timer also brings the game to an end after 50 minutes.

Oh, and it just occurred to me... Wasn't there a VS Dr. Mario?

For starters, the Game Boy Pocket used just a slightly faster version (a fraction of a megahert faster) of the same 8-bit Z80 processor that powered the original Game Boy.  (I'm not sure about GBC.)
The Jaguar had two 32-bit processors, I think, and the Turbographix-16 had an 8-bit main processor and a 16-bit graphics processor.

Yeah, Wall-Mart can be great for that kind of thing.  After Sunsoft re-released the Final Fantasy Legend trilogy (GB), my local Wall-Mart was selling each one for $40, but they eventually put the first two in with all the other bargain games for $20 each - a price I have yet to see anywhere else!

For some real fun, try Megazeux, the next-generation version of ZZT.  There's still a lot of low quality stuff (including a little Mario game or two), but there are exceptions, like "Bernard the Bard" (quite possibly the best game I have ever played, period).

Maybe it's just a bad ROM copy...

By the way, did you see the SMB3 for GameBoy article on NESWorld a while ago?

It seems someone hacked a save state with a level editor.  If there was some sort of Game Genie stage select code, it might do something similar when used improperly; however, there seems to be no such code.

(A pity there's not as much information on hacking SMW as there is on hacking some of the other Mario games.)

You know, there _is_ a Nesticle movie showing how to get into the Minus World on this very site, along with some other interesting bugs (like jumping over the flagpole in a certain level).

To make it even easier to defeat Johnny faster, you can poison him with Bowser's poisoning spell, too.  It can actually take off quite a bit of life, as I recall.
