Title: Are you freezing or sweating in the U.S. of A?
Post by: Mr. Melee on November 17, 2005, 05:23:25 PM
Yeah. Are you, yes you, freezing your buttocks off like I am in Ohio or are you sweating like in California? This goes to me saying, where do you live? I thought everybody lived in Cali because of the FF time.

Over here in Washington, it's cold, but not enough for snow. The perfect combination for icy rain and frustration. Thank goodness for the ski resorts!

...Threads are just churning out now, aren't they? I'm going to go take a Mario Kart DS break.

It's pretty chilly here in upstate New York. I've seen a bit of snow, but not an awful lot.

Needless to say, it's definitely not warm out.

It gets pretty cold here in Georgia ;D, but of course, never snows, we are a little too close to the water I guess. I used to live in Texas, as some other members I know do, and it snowed alot in the winter, and to answer your question:
only mods, and admins can have those, and they don't want you to ask for one.

Recently we were in front of (behind?) a cold front. Yesterday the high was 70°. Today the high was 46°.

Though, I like hot weather a lot, I do like having seasons, etc. I'd actually like Autumn even more if classes didn't start at the same exact time.

Well, down here in Texas it has been about an awkward year! It didn't start getting hot until fall and we broke a 1946 heat record by a degree (108). A couple weeks later it was normal... and just a few days ago it got dead cold.

I wish it would snow out here. It still gets hot. California. I hate living here. The sky is brown because of the ag DIRT. I came back from a week at NY and got congested, that's how bad it is. The minute I can get my own place, I'm moving to Canada.

Three days ago it was in the high 70s; about 36 hours later, the temp was at freezing.
I went from wearing open-toed shoes, no jacket, and being warm to wearing a high-necked sweater, jacket, and being freezing in two days' time.

One would think that living in Syracuse all my life, I would get used the weather changing every other day...It was quite cold Thursday and Friday, enough to get a few inches of snow.  Today, I believe it reached around 50, and no snow to be seen.  Just soggy leaves everywhere.

Here in San Diego, the weather keeps jumping from being cold to being hot. It's really annoying when the morning weather tricks you into thinking it'll be cold for the day then around 8:00 or 9:00 the weather changes to hot and I'm forced to lug my sweater around all day.

It depends. Trainman couldn't have put it any better, here in Eastern Texas, the temperature is confusing the weathermen! Today I was sweating, tonight I'll be cold, tomorrow afternoon I'll be okay, this weekend I'll be wet. I stopped paying too much attention to the weather whenever the weathermen started spinning a dial to see what the weather would do. ;)

And on a side note. . .we're talking about the weather. . .strange, I thought only retired people did that :P

And yes, Silver Spring and Silver Springs are different places. The former, and one I was referring to earlier, is in Maryland.

Hey, I've watched the weather channel, only when the storm specials came on. . .like "When Tornadoes Hit" or something. . .I've always had this innate phobia of tornadoes and big storms like Hurricanes. Specially when Rita came through, I was right on the brunt end of it. Yes, weather can be interesting, I just noticed we were posting about how hot or cold it is and got a chuckle out of it. hehe

I like talking about weather; and I agree it's cool (literally, sometimes XD).
I was kidding, thinking about how people make "small talk" asking, "so how's the weather?" or something. I loathe small-talk, period. It's something that's socially awkward, I think.

Then again, I feel socially awkward a lot. Unless I'm with friends or close family. Um, yeah. But I never EVER ask "how's the weather;" I pretty much don't talk unless I actually have something to say, or someone starts talking to me.

While I don't like the scientific stuff about weather, I like observing it. Like when it snows, or watching a thunderstorm, or knowing when there's likely to be a rainbow, looking at clouds, etc.

Yes, I like observing the weather, but most of all I like writing about it. I wrote a short story I guess, it's very symbolic and it deals with nature and the weather all from observing it. I'll have to post it some time. But it's not just weather that I like to observe it's nature period. . . . um ... .so. . .How's the weather?

My stupid feet are always cold. I wear shorts all year, but my feet are cold no matter how many pairs of socks I wear. I'm sick. I can breathe through my nose, I can hold food down, but I'm coughing a lot. I have had 3 glasses of Airborne and a Halls, but I can't stop coughing. And the fact that the air quality in this (insert horrible word here) town isn't helping. New York had better air than this place! I went there for a week earlier this year, and when I came back my nose and lungs got all stuffed up. That's saying something.

I very rarely get a SNOW day.  Here it's usually a wind chill day, which was no fun when I was younger, since it took away that whole "play-in-the-snow day" fun out of it.

EDIT- Of course, now that I said that, we had an actual snow day...wait...I've never had a Million-gillion-billion dollars land in my lap...

Ugh, the day I get out of school, it gets foggy enough to be a foggy day schedule. For those of you who have never experienced fog in your lives, foddy day schedule is when the school declares it too foggy for buses (or should I say "busses," they misspell EVERYTHING) to run. They delay the bus schedule for 1, 2 or 3 hours, depending how bad the fog is and when they think it'll clear up. If it's still too foggy after 3 hours, they cancel the buses. Since the bus is my only way of getting to school, when the buses get canceled I get a day off.

Snow is a very fun substance! There is so much you can do in it.

I love to go sled riding on some hills by my house. Sometimes we'll build ramps and launch off of them. We'll also try to jump on other people as they go down the hill... it's quite fun.

I also like to go Skiing. I often go up to New York and Ski there. I'm not an amazing skier, but I am good enough to jaunch off of ramps, and complete a Ski-Free-esque run consisting of flags.

Another great snowtime activity is having snow ball fights. After you build a fortress, You attack the enemy's fortress with balls of tightly packed snow... Ahhh...

I have pity on all of you that do not get any (or much) snow.

I'll be freezing for another four weeks, then I am moving to Florida where I will be staying inside most of summer because I don't like heat (and neither does my hair) even though I have never been sunburned in my life and I have stayed out in the sun all day before.

Sorry for bump (only 3 days, and its still new) but it will snow tomorrow! Yay! Then it will warm up into the sweating 40's. To tell the truth, it felt like summer when it was 53F.

Yeah, kind of a sudden return there.

Yesterday here in Iowa, it was like May weather. It was great. But today I came outside to go to school, and there was about two inches of snow, and it was like 10 degrees. Weather stinks.

Um, guys (Mr.Melee and pt_peach)...
I've noticed you guys have on-going conversations a lot (like happening every couple of seconds or minutes), most of which have very little content at all. It's really....well, cluttering up the place--in a lot of topics, and most the time you guys have pages of conversation-posts that are completely off-topic, which really isn't appreciated.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but if you guys want to have conversations like that, could you please do so on AIM or IRC or some sort of instant messanging or chatting program, not posting on the Fungi Forums?

I'm sorry for the bump, but it's about time we got back on topic. I'm mad at the weather!!! It was 50something for the longest time, including a record high of 55 yesterday! *sweating* Why can't it be cold in the winter and hot in the summer?

Sorry for the bump but somebody just made a board like this so this one must be recongnized. In Cali, the winters are sometimes hot enough to make you sweat! It's been getting foggy here around sunset so we don't get to see the sunset. And I'm not freezing or sweating!

Anyway, weather is super unpredictable down here. A few days ago, I was sweating, fans up full blast... today, nothing but rain, rain and more rain. I got soaked, as usual... why can't we have normal weather? It's meant to be summer! >:(

...wow, that's my rant for the day.

Yes. Edit poll > Poll Options > [text box] Maximum votes per user.
Change the number in the text box to however many you want--from 1 to the max number of options there are.

Might I suggest an option of "distinct seasons" or "wide variety" or something to that effect?

Hey U.s. What time was it when you posted?

PS. I've added a poll. Only problem: I don't know how to make it so you can select more than one option. Will someone please help?

8:51PM, why?

Right now, in SIlver Spring, there is a huge blizzard. The snow is about 15 inches high. We just built a snow fort, and gosh darn, it looks good.

What is "dead cold" in Texas?

To answer your 5 year old question, "dead cold" would be about 65º when you deal with constant triple digit days then a cold front near the end of summer blows in... which coincidentally happened early this morning.

Also, yes, I'm bumping this, but with newer members here, I feel it could be revived and is a legitimate topic. (Yes, I'm aware of the "How's the Weather" thread)

It's around 63º at the moment here in central Texas. After the cold front passes it'll heat back up a bit to around the mid 80s until mid/late October... after that, it will finally cool down.

I appreciate that a response made it through four years and twenty pages. :)

Where I live it is 19º with about 5 inches of snow. It is still currently snowing.

It's about 60 or so in Fort Worth. Very cloudy, cool weather is my favorite kind of weather.

This thread is for nationalistic bigots. I refuse to comply by bothering to find the international weather thread. On that note, it's about 16 degrees Celcius (60 in Americanese) in this part of mid-southern Ontario. However, our temperature ranges right from -20C (-6F) to 36C (97F) over the typical year.

You're in Fort Worth? That's legit. I was just up in Arlington the other day, actually!

Dude, I'm right off I-35 about 45 minutes north of Austin. Maybe this is signalling that another TMK Grand Event should occur.

Ironically, I hear that up north it's still in the 60s, etc. Our normal weather has swapped places.

We had a little snow on the ground earlier this week, but it was gone in two days.
