Game Help / Mario Kart DS Secrets (Spoliers)
« on: November 19, 2005, 04:32:41 PM »
I recently heard that in Mario Kart DS, you could unlock somebody named Rob. Is this the old NES perehpiral, R.O.B. the robot, or did I hear wrong and is it actually a Bob-omb, or something like that?

I have a glacier colored GBA, but you should get Platinum. It's Limited Edition.

King Boo isn't dead! He will return...

Site Discussion / How come no reviews?
« on: May 27, 2004, 04:06:41 PM »
Well, I first thought up of this question back when I first started coming to TMK, which must hve been two or three years ago...

How come there are no reviews for any of the Mario games here at TMK? Lots of other Mario sites have them. Is it just because the staff is lazy?

Video Game Chat / Great Video Game Mysteries
« on: April 10, 2004, 08:12:17 PM »
Every once in a while, there comes a video game that is well-known and loved. However, these video games, at some stages in their developments, have deep, dark secrets... Waiting to be discovered... Welcome to...

GREAT VIDEO GAME MYSTERIES!
(echo 3x, fade)

Anyway, the point of this thread is to try to "flush out" mysteries about video game secrets. (Like Luigi in SM64, Citadel in Goldeneye, etc.) If anyone has a question about something like this, they can ask, and someone who knows the answer can answer it, thus clearing all confusion and misconceptions about the game. I'll go first:

What's the deal with that truck in Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow by the S.S. Anne? As you're about to go on the ship, surf to the right, and there is a tiny island that has a truck on it. I tried to move it with Strength, but nothing happened. Does it have anything to do with "Mew"?

General Chat / Your "Pet Peeves"
« on: December 30, 2003, 10:52:44 AM »
I'm not sure, but I think there was already a thread like this a long, long time ago.

...So anyway, here's a thread where you can post things that get on your nerves. Try to keep it clean, and don't "bash on" other members of the board. I'll go first.

I don't like:
-Hypocrites
-Cheaters
-When people wink at me

General Chat / Happy Birthday, The Big Boo
« on: November 28, 2003, 05:46:38 PM »
Yup. Today, I turned 14. A pretty good birthday, considering I got a plethora of games, including:

-Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
-A Platinum Wavebird to go with Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
-Golden Sun
-Phantasy Star Online
-Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga

I really don't know why I'm making my own birthday thread when I could be playing Mario Kart. Oh well.

Mario Chat / Cool Things I've Noticed In MK:DD
« on: November 22, 2003, 09:11:41 PM »
Well, I'm gonna get my copy of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! in six days (my birthday), and my freind just bought his copy and played it at my house. I've noticed several cool little things in the game. Here's a list of some stuff I've noticed: (Keep in mind that anyone can add to the list. Also, there shouldn't be too many spoilers in here)

-In the first course, Luigi Circuit, behind one of the walls you can see Luigi's Mansion (You know, the good, "A Rank" one that you win after you beat Luigi's Mansion with lots of money).

-On the second course, Peach Beach (which is really Isle Delfino), there are Piantas, Nokis, and Cataquacks (think Gelato Beach) on the track. Also, you can see Daisy Liner (I think that's its name), which is another course that happens to be on a cruise ship.

-Speaking of Daisy Liner, the music that plays in that level is from Koopa Beach, the beach course in Mario Kart 64. (It's also from Super Mario Kart, but I don't think it had that music.)

Well, that's it for now. When I actually get the game, I'll add to the list.

Mario Chat / New Mario Party 5 Information
« on: November 06, 2003, 05:47:16 PM »
I just got my new Nintendo Power, and there was an article aout Mario Party 5. The most noticeable changes:

-You can be Toad, Boo, Koopa Kid
-You can't be DK, he has his own space(like Bowser, but good)
-New mode in which you must construct a kart/tank hybrid (out of Mario-themed parts) that battle other karttanks
-New Volleyball and Ice Hockey Games
-Toad no longer gives out stars, the Seven Star Spirits from Paper Mario do.

If anyone wants to post the information I left out, feel free to do so.

General Chat / The Big Boo's 500th Post!
« on: October 03, 2003, 11:28:25 AM »
First, let me start off by letting you all know that this post is a blatant rip-off of a similar post made by Lizard Dude. Also, please excuse the lack of silliness in this post; I can't think of anything funny that fits in here. Okay, on to business...

June 26, 2002: It was a day long ago, before Mario Sunshine, Metriod Prime, or even Harry Potter 5 came out in stores. There wasn't really anything special about June 26, except for one thing: thebigboo888 entered the Fungi Forums.

As you might have guessed, thebigboo888 is now me, The Big Boo. 2002, to me, seems like yesterday. It was before most of the members of today, like Chupperson Weird, Sapphira, and Trainman. Since then, these boards have grown a lot. Members change names, people come as newbies and leave as respected posters. But the thing I admire most about these boards is how people enter the borads a strangers and leave as friends.

Quick! Something to break the formality! What do you call a cow with no legs! Ground Beef!

Anyway, let's have a toast... *Raises champagne glass* to the boards since June 26, 2002, and to all its members, including The Big Boo.

Just for the Fungi Forums, I created a website that allows you to learn more about me. Check it out... my picture and Spiky Blue Shell's picture are on it!

TBB's 500th post! How'd you like it? Your thoughts, please.

Umm... I tried clicking on the new chatroom, but there's just a big white box. Can anybody tell me what's wrong, or what I should do?

General Chat / Plans for Halloween
« on: September 05, 2003, 04:13:10 PM »
Just wondering... Am I the only one here who still goes Trick-or-Treat-ing? Because I'm gonna need ideas for a costume. Preferably one that's easy to make and Video Game themed. And not Mario (I've already been him). Just wondering.

Game Help / I Need Help With the Super Scope!!!
« on: August 17, 2003, 11:41:08 AM »
I would post this in Game Help, but nobody goes there. Anyway, I bought a used Super Scope for $5 at FuncoLand about a month ago. I was going to buy Yoshi's Safari too, but they didn't have it. Then, last night, I bought Yoshi's Safari at Hollywood Video for $5. So, I turned on Yoshi's Safari, put bateries in the Super Scope and... nothing happened. I tried everything- pressing all of the buttons on the Scope, flipping all of the switches, putting batteries in upside-down, and nothing worked. So does anybody know what I could be doing wrong, or is it broken?

Mario Chat / Mario as California Governor?
« on: August 14, 2003, 12:36:07 PM »
Apparently, Nintendo is using this whole California Governor election mess as a way to advertise Mario Party 5. Be sure to read the bolded words. Here it is:

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2003-- Video game pioneer Mario disappointed voters across the state of California today, confirming he will not be a candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial recall election.

Instead, he disclosed plans to focus on furthering the development of the Mario Party, a well-established, alternative grassroots movement for people who want to see real action from their candidates.

"The California recall election is too much of a circus, even for me, and I live in a world filled with Koopa Troopas and man-eating plants. Multi-player is good -- but this election is over the top," says Mario. "I definitely would have been the most animated candidate but, even in times of deep budget deficits, saving princesses has to take priority."

Beginning Nov. 11, Mario will launch the next stage in the evolution of the Mario Party. His first act will be restoring peace to Dream World, just one plank in a long list of guarantees in the Mario Party 5 platform. Running exclusively on the Nintendo GameCube(TM) ticket, Mario and trusted cabinet members Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, Luigi, Toad and others will take his message to the streets, campaigning non-stop across all-new game boards and through more than 60 free new mini-games.

However, Mario remains guarded about rumors of a Presidential bid in 2004.

"I've spent my life collecting coins, leaping over obstacles and fighting bosses, so obviously I have the necessary experience," says Mario. "But as all game players know, everything else must be put on hold until the limitless fun of Mario Party 5 is explored. Once that's done, I will make a decision."

Since breaking onto the scene in the classic 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong®, Mario has successfully jumped between console, arcade and hand-held systems, starring in games that have sold more than 165 million copies.

Like one of the better-known gubernatorial candidates, Mario is also a media celebrity and was born overseas.[The Big Boo's note: Eh! Look at that! Born overseas! This should clear up some of those rumors about Mario being born not overseas!] If he had continued with the race, Mario would have been one of the youngest gubernatorial candidates in California history. Because he dropped out of the election, Mario will not be disclosing his income or financial holdings, revealing only that he has enough money to buy all the Koopa shells he needs. Koopa shell options immediately jumped in after-hours market trading.

Uh... That's it.

« on: July 26, 2003, 04:11:32 PM »
I don't know why I'm posting this. I'm bored, I guess. Anyway, what's YOUR favorite movie? I guess mine would have to be Goldmember, Scary Movie, and UHF.

Video Game Chat / Mario Advance 4, Starfox Adventures 2, and more!
« on: May 13, 2003, 12:27:31 PM »
I just went on Nintendonow.com, and according to some Japanese gaming magazine, Nintendo is making:
- Super Mario Advance 4: SMB3
- Starfox Adventures 2 (not to be confused with Namco's Starfox game)
- Mario and Luigi RPG
- Custom Robo GC
- Mario Party 5
and uh... I think that's it. Anyway, you should check it out, but the screenshots are small. Find out more at E3!
