....Uhhh....If this is a Mario board, what do you think most of the answers will be?

But, just for the heck of it, I like the Gamecube, though I have nothing against the other two consoles.

Gamecube. But there are a lot more video game systems besides those three.

EDIT: The GCN is my favorite out of those three. I'm not sure what my favorite system of all time is; either the NES, the SNES, or both.

From the ones I assume you meant above I would rank them this way:

  1. Nintendo GameCube
  2. Sony Playstation 2
  3. Microsoft Xbox

Overall all I think the SNES with SMAS + SMW and Tetris + Dr. Mario is the best ever.  The N64 with TLoZ:OoT and SM64 makes a very close second.

I, like LD, am also being more and more inclined to put the DS towards if not on the top of my list.  When New SMB DS comes out I sure it will be my favorite game for a long time, at least until SM128 Rev comes out.

As Watoad implied, I wish there were more PDA Games.  Thanks for turning me/us on to it, LD.

^Wins the "Most Sense of the Day" Award. Thank you, Vid.

Anyway, I like any system that has the games I like. GCN has Mario, PS2 has Burnout 3, GTA: SA, GT4, Toca 2, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3, etc. etc., and I hate Xbox. I see no point in it.

Super Nintendo all the way.  With Super Mario All Stars, you get six (SIX!!!!) major Mario platformers in classic 2D glory.  Add to that Super Mario RPG, Tetris Attack, Super Mario Kart, a whole bunch of other great games that don't involve Mario, and the greatest game ever made, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Rebuttal: GBA can play all the game specifically mentioned, and more, and is portable.

Rebuttal to rebuttal: With SNES you get a bigger screen and you don't have to hear the annoying Mario and Link voices.  And GBA doesn't have Super Mario RPG (though I'll concede that Superstar Saga was quite good).

Super Mario Brothers 1, 2, 3, Lost Levels, Super Mario World 1 & 2.  Which reminds me, GBA doesn't have Lost Levels.  Long live SNES!

I didn't mean six major Mario games in Super Mario All Stars.  I meant six major Mario games on SNES, if you include in the count the individual games in Super Mario All Stars.  Sorry about the confusion.  The point is, the SNES was packed with Marionic goodness.

Super Mario All-Stars is a pile of shameful remakes of 3 great games and 1 game made out of a Japan-only release (SMB2 out of DDP).
NES is my all time favorite console. I would sacrifice my SNES, N64, and Gamecube just to keep that one console.

Super Mario Bros. 3 from Nintendo
Now you''re playing with power!

What didn't you like about All-Stars?  The graphics in All-Stars were much better and the gameplay was almost unchanged.  The only possible downside I can think of is the addition of the save feature, which some might see as making the games too easy.

If you mean system per se, I would go with the Dual Screen.  If you mean a system's library of games, I would go with the Super Nintendo.  Both of these are subject to change when Nintendo releases their upcoming console.

I can understand why someone would prefer the original graphics of SMB over All-Stars' version.  The original is more videogame-ish, and I actually prefer it.  The caves seem darker and cooler.  The lava seems brighter and hotter.  And don't forget the music!  The music in the original is way better.  As for the other games in the compilation, I may prefer the All-Stars versions...

> Rebuttal to rebuttal: With SNES you get a bigger screen...

Rebuttal to rebuttal to rebuttal:  With the GB Player, you get a bigger screen PLUS a controller that some would say is more comfortable.

With GB Player you get a screen as big as the screen you get with SNES, but the resolution devoted to the actual games is still smaller.

That's true.  Plus, nobody mentioned the GBA has perhaps too few buttons.  Anyway, it comes down to apples and oranges.

I prefer the Super Mario All-Stars versions of Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) and Super Mario Bros. 3 to the original NES versions. However, I prefer the original NES/Famicom versions of Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 because they messed up the physics in the SMAS versions. However, I like the SMAS version of the Super Mario Bros. theme more than any other version.
That was a joke.

I only like the SNES version of SMB 3.

All the NES versions of 1, 2 (Japan), and 2 (USA) are better.

Though, the fact that you were given 5 lives instead of 3 was better to me. And unlike most people, I like the save feature just fine. Because I know I won't have a lot of time to devote to playing a game as long as Super Mario Bros. 3 straight through in one sitting.

Revolution. Or did you mean systems that already exist? Let's see... Gamecube: many ok games... N64: Very few Mario games, but all are great. NES: Features the minus world... but difficult to turn on these days. SNES it is! I have the SNES to thank for introduction to Mario anyway.

My friend John: Wow! I can see my own breath! It''s already that time of year?
