Sounds like a pretty sweet deal if you're a PS3 owner who also plays stuff on PC. And cross-platform multi is huge - it's like Valve are dragging consoles kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Well, one console, anyway.

Very cool, but I must point out that 360 games like Shadowrun and Lost Planet had cross-platform multiplayer four years ago.

I'm also going to point out that the last two console generations were released in the 21st century.

So I can be a true fan with only one purchase. I don't see the downside to this unless the straight PC version is half the price or something of that nature.

Fair enough, LD; I wasn't aware Microsoft let you do cross-platform multiplayer in Live stuff (they don't exactly promote it, or actually include it in anything nowadays).

There was also Final Fantasy XI on the PS2, and a handful of PS3 MMOs, so in that regard cross-platform multi isn't a big deal. What is a big deal is that this is actually Steam on PS3, with all the caveats of such, including updates that completely ignore any of Sony's procedures. I would guess it also means Source features like dedicated servers.

If Turtlekid1 gets a free copy for PS3, is he going to scream bloody murder when it doesn't include the PC download too?

If it's advertised as being the same as a purchased copy, then yes.
