My E3 hype building up already, is yours? Let's discuss E3 hype, what we want to/expect to see, and when it happens, we'll have our reactions and stuff.

I'm gonna expect Zelda U (which is confirmed anyways), some Smash 4 reveals, and more on Bayo 2. I really, really want to see some more of X and Hyrule Warriors as well.

I'm expecting a release date for SSB4 (both), more ORAS info, possibly a 2DS circle pad pro, release date for the Gamecube adapter with GC VC games, and a new Metroid game.

Also a new Mega Man, but as if that's going to happen.

  • Do Yarn Yoshi and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem still exist?
  • Will Super Smash Brothers For The Nintendo Three Dee Ess Console And Also For The Nintendo Wii Yoo Console have a real name?
  • Will they say anything about the non-wearable quality of life... thing?
  • Which games will be delayed? (Probably X)

I would weep.  First with joy, and then when I actually played it.

With GCN controllers announced for Smash 4 and Theatrhythm Curtain Call, Project DIVA F 2nd, Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit!, and Amplitude all on the way, there's really not much I want out of life right now. :)

But maybe:
  • Space Channel 5 Part 3, same as every year (not gonna happen)
  • Hard Corps Uprising 2 or a different new Contra
  • Captain Falcon

In addition to most of what LD listed, I have Crimzon Clover WORLD IGNITION, Shovel Knight, Sealark, Barkley 2, and Puzzle & Dragons Z on the way.

Sony and Nintendo will most likely show footage for already-announced titles I'm interested in, but I don't expect much from new reveals from any publisher.

  • Will Super Smash Brothers For The Nintendo Three Dee Ess Console And Also For The Nintendo Wii Yoo Console have a real name?

The real name is Super Smash Brothers 4 Three Dee Ess and Super Smash Brothers 4 Wii Yoo. It's a play on words.. "Smash for 3DS" and "Smash four 3DS" are pronounced the same way.

I don't know what to expect from this year's E3. In past years, I would have said "New Mario game!", but.. I don't have a Wii U, and don't always have time to play on my 3DS. I don't always have the money to get these awesome games/systems either.

Part of growing up, I guess. I still enjoy gaming, but I also have to think about my family when making purchases and such now.

I hear that.  I could get a PS4 and all the delicious-looking titles for it, but then I'd be at a loss as to financing things down the line... house, wedding, computer, etc.

Something tipping me off about that one is Wave Race HD, since that seems more suited for Virtual Console than a full remake.

Speaking of things that probably won't happen, here's a list of my full on crazy predictions for Nintendo's E3:
  • NFP is backwards compatible with Pokemon Rumble U figures
  • Miis are revealed for SSB4 with Replace as their Final Smash, demoed against Ridley and Mewtwo
  • Minecraft Wii U
  • 2DS Circle Pad Pro
  • Nintendo jumps on the TPP bus (a bit late, but maybe well timed as the HG run should be just done or ending soon) and opens up their Twitch chat for a playthrough of an ORAS demo
  • Duck Hunt: The New Order, a reboot of one of the most famous FPS games of all time.
  • Super Mario Galaxy 3 confirmed

For some reason, I could see that being another F2P thing where you start with objects from SMB1/SMB2J (Goombas, Koopas, original Bowser), but can get ones from SMB2U (Shy Guys, Birdo, Wart, vegetables), SMB3 (Boos, big enemies, suits, P switches, Koopalings, ground pounding Bowser), or SMW (Yoshi, spinny blocks with eyes, Koopa Clown Car) for a dollar or two each.

« Reply #14 on: June 06, 2014, 05:56:01 PM »
I just hope we won't have to stick to SMB's primitive physics.

Microsoft's was mediocre.
EA's was really bad.
Ubisoft's was even worse, they tried to be all "edgy" and "hip" and it was just embarrassing.

Today will be known as the day Microsoft and Sony collectively managed to sell thousands of Wii Us.
Tomorrow will be International Mewtwo and Ridley Fan Disappointment Day.

Microsoft: Mediocre
EA: Really bad
Ubisoft: Absolutely abysmal (I couldn't even finish it)
Sony: Almost mildly decent...almost.

Nintendo better steal the show tomorrow. Here's hoping the new Zelda wows us.

I'm upset about SSB4 Miis. I know, I don't have to play as them. I know, Greninja, Little Mac, Antony Del Rio Pit and Probably Accurate Bowser are in and that is more than I ever could have asked for.

But now, even if I never ever play against randoms online, there's probably one friend who will use their own Mii, or a Mii of their character, or a Mii of something so hilarious like Hank Hill or Hitler, or a Mii of their unrealistic request who didn't make it in like Sora or Master Chief. I'm not sure what it can be fairly compared to. For the people who have to fight your Mii, it's gonna feel like there's a fighting wireframe in the match that someone decided would be a much better choice than literally anyone else on the roster, for some reason.

That was awesome.

I wish Nintendo would have shown more of the new Zelda and more Smash, otherwise I wasn't disappointed.

--Psyched for Zelda Wii U but I hope they tone down the bloom lighting.
--Couldn't care less about Mario Party 10 or a new Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
--Haven't seen enough of the new Star Fox to really care either way.
--Can't really muster the enthusiasm any more to get angry about Mii integration, but I wish we'd seen at least somebody else announced (this isn't the unofficial cutoff point for new characters, is it?). Figurines are shameless but neat.
--Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire look glorious, but I'm not at a point in my life where I can really invest the time I'd like to into a Pokemon game (or 3DS, for that matter).
--Bayonetta 2 could very well be a gift from the heavens, but I can only get so excited being stuck on the final(?) boss fight of the original due to unresponsive QTEs.
--Mario Maker was pretty much what I imagined, for better or worse.
--Oh hey, a Kirby Canvas Curse sequel! That's... good, but hopefully not $60.

And yeah, Microsoft really just took a whole day to embarrass themselves. PS4-wise, though, I'm psyched for No Man's Sky and Inside! (and to a lesser extent, Uncharted 4)

Guess what wouldn't have been a problem if you had played the real version of Bayonetta?

Splatoon looks hot. "Fast-paced colorful mobility-oriented team-based TPS about territory control" is far more interesting than any of the other shooters that were shown at E3.

Nintendo won E3 again, hands down. First, they had a presentation that didn't suck, then they showed off some of their games being played live (and sometimes blind), and finished it off with a SSB4 tournament that was absolutely amazing.

Smash tourney was amazing. Nintendo DOUBLE WON! Even if the rest of E3 wasn't lackluster, Nintendo would have won anyways at this point.

Sakurai confirmed during the roundtable that you can't use Miis when playing against strangers online.

It sort of reminded me of the game that inspired Portal 2's gel mechanics. What's even better is that that seems to not even be the whole game. I'm pretty excited to see the other modes and maps.

Also, best part of E3 right here minor language warning

No they didn't. They had more interesting new stuff than Sony. And they didn't have a half hour of executives and writers talking about TV shows and movies.

I'd disagree; Microsoft had more exclusive new stuff than Sony. 90% of the games portion of Sony's conference came across as "look at all these awesome things that will be on other platforms too," which is fine if the goal is to showcase the fact that multiplatform game development is healthy, but not if you're trying to convince people that a PS4 is a worthwhile purchase over a gaming PC, or at best for Sony, a PlayStation TV that costs 1/4 as much as a PS4. Sony had more games I was interested in than Microsoft did, but Microsoft had more things I was interested in that I'd have to buy a $400 console to actually play. (And since one of those things was Crackdown 3, I fear that may eventually happen after all.)
