1. Project M is 100% playable on an unmodded Wii or Wii U
2. It is made with the competitive scene in mind--players who liked Melee. But the ideology is that Melee was fun for everyone and no one working on this forgot it is a mascot fighter series.

Sorry to go bold right there but I wanted to clear up two misconceptions that turn some people away from Project M before anything else.

So if you haven't heard about it, Project M is a big mod that changes Brawl into a faster-paced and more balanced game that plays like Melee. Every character returning from Melee uses their SSBM properties as a floor but no one is exempt from changes. Even Fox or Falco. The Brawl newcomers have new toys, different toys, and some mechanics that have never been seen in Smash Bros. before. Almost every character feels stronger in some respect, especially the ones who really needed the buffs, like Samus, Link, Bowser or Zelda. It's a lot of fun.

And if the main draw to Smash Bros. to you is the same as for me--"I can make Mario fight Link!" then Project M should be up your alley from all the new love letters to the characters' original games, and stuff like that.

This is a playable alternate costume for Peach.

Dry Bowser and Dry Giga Bowser. They went to the trouble to give Giga Bowser alternate colors matching Bowser's color changes including this one for his model change.

These guys are back and do not replace anyone already in Brawl. The entire cast plus Mewtwo and Roy are fully playable as of 3.0 (except Red the Pokémon Trainer, whose Pokémon are now completely independent fighters).

Ness's smash up-taunt.

Wario's moveset and animations are the Wario Land-inspired attacks that even a 'Ware fan like me thinks he obviously should have had to begin with.

It's all a very professional labor of love. If you've got an SD card 2GB or smaller that you're not using, give it a whirl. You won't regret it.

I'd like to give this a shot. Looks pretty neat.

This looks pretty neat!

How haven't they received a cease & desist letter?
Kinopio is the ultimate video game character! Who else can drive a kart, host parties, play tennis, give good advice and items, and is almost always happy??

Far better than the previous Project M build, and I'm already liking it a great deal more than original Melee (actual input buffers!) and Brawl.  The level of polish is amazing; most characters have at least one special alternate costume, and the game's packed full of easter eggs like Ness's alternate up-taunt and Kirby's classic down-taunt.  The HUD and character-/stage-selection screens look fantastic, as well; in particular, there's a lot less unnecessary clutter in the former.

Also, it's not hard at all to get it running on Riivolution on any SD card if they've already got that set up.
If she is indeed genetically mutated such that she has an eye in the back of her head, then I guess that she is genetically mutated and has an eye in the back of her head.

Game mods are technically legal as long as they don't inhibit anyone's ability to sell their stuff. It is designed to work with a legitimate copy of Brawl and they do whatever they can to not look like they're competing with SSB4. The only characters they'll ever consider adding to the roster are those who already appear in Brawl as trophies, stickers or whatever else.

I run the "hackless" method on my Wii U now. It is literally as simple as copying the contents of the hackless download onto a blank SD card, making sure there are no Stage Builder stages on the game save, and navigating to the Stage Builder menu in Brawl.

I'll have to see if I've got a spare SD card lying around..

I just started playing a bit of Brawl again today and realised how much tripping sucks, so this is a nifty topic for me to find. Downloading now, thanks!
If my son could decimate Lego cities with his genitals, I'd be [darn] proud.

Project M is very good. The only thing I don't like is how small some of the stages are in relation to their sizes in Melee or 64.
The Mario series is the best! It has every genre in video games but RTS'! It also has a plumber who does different roles, a princess, and a lot of odd creatures who don't seem to poop!
