Title: Bad TV shows, or show ideas
Post by: Jman on September 17, 2006, 08:11:27 AM
This is the thread where you can spout off about TV shows that should never have been made, whether they be spinoffs, or original shows.  The Swan, anyone?  That would be my choice.  Boy, what better way to attract an audience by telling some lady that she's unattractive because she looks natural for her age?

Big Brother, horrible show idea.  How did it last this long?

Friends.

Yeah, Friends sucked, I also thought Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer sucked too, sorry if I offended any of the fans.  But the acting in the shows really sucked.

Meh, I always thought Buffy was overrated. Whenever I see it compared to Veronica Mars (in a good light), it makes me die inside. Charmed just bores me. I always prefered That '70s Show over Friends since it actually made me laugh.

Honestly, 7th Heaven gets on my nerves. I can't really explain it, I just don't like it. Plus the fact that it's been renewed for one more season on The CW....

Yeah, I hate 7th Heaven, I just despise it.  That and every Soap Opera ever made, particularly british Soaps.

Personally I thought friends was alright. Now Joey on the other hand, was just godawful.

I don't like much reality shows in general, because they remind me of our nation's obsession with movie people and such. I want throw stuff whenever I go through check-out at stores.

I hate Corey Matthews from Boy Meets World, only because he acts like a total idiot and people say I look like him.  Its like right before he was born, God gave him the choice to look like anyone on earth in the past, present and future, and he chose to look like me.  Corey Matthews stole my identity....

Was the topic split? The "wait" topic didn't have any "[Split from Bad TV shows, or show ideas]" thing next to it. Either that or somebody hacked into my account. Anyways, did I offend anybody here because I don't like cartoons? If so, that's just my opinion. This topic asked for your opinions, and I posted my thoughts. I didn't break any rules in this topic. I'm sorry if I offended anybody.

Yes. I used my moderating powers to hack* the homophobic off-topic parts of the thread away. Read the part split off. Your dislike of cartoons has NOTHING to do with why the thread was split.

Oh, posts following this one should be about TV shows you dislike... if you have questions or anything, take it to PMs from here on out. Thanks.

On topic: Yes. Reality television has gotten worse and worse. I haven't seen much ingenuity on that front in ages. I'll get more specific later, but I'm busy now.

*hack has more than one meaning you know

I hate the Disney channel, yeah pretty much the whole disney network is sucky now, that and regular cartoon network.  Where did all the good shows go like Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Lab, Ed Edd 'n Eddy go?  Adult swim is great just to make that clear, I was talking about regular Cartoon Network.  Toonami has gotten a lot worse also, just my opinion.  They used to have a cartoon on Toonami I really liked, it was called "Ronin Warriors".  Seriously, where is all the good anime hiding on regular cable channels?

Kappa Mikey. If you want to know why, go to the ANGST thread and read my post.

Tom goes to the Mayor: It shows a lack of effort in animation and humor. Each seen has about 0 animation.

Just about every show on Adult Swim. (Besides Family Guy and Futurama.) I used to watch Adult Swim, but it's just.......................meh.

Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy is still on. It's the only cartoon that I ever watch anymore.

Well, yeah, reruns I think, I just ish they still made the great shows that used to be on there.

I'll watch Ed, Edd 'n Eddy if there's nothing else on. It's still pretty decent, but I don't watch it if something better is on.

As for reality TV, the only ones I watched and enjoyed were The Mole (the first two seasons) and Last Comic Standing. Everything else is pretty much crap to me.

Yeah, really, why watch reality?  You live in reality!!!!  It just like me and drawing figures or looking at things and drawing them, for instance landscapes.  You can look at a landscape in real life, no offence to traditional artists or such.  But I like to draw what I am thinking about, because no-one can just go up to my head any day and say "Wow, I know what your feeling dude, your pretty original."  I have to put it on paper...  I hope you understand what I am talking about.  I really do.

Most people live in front of their TVs.

Survivor, Big Brother, celebrity versions of those shows.. are all a bad idea.

We live in reality. I know some people live infront of their tv's (I live beside mine, but anyway), but there has got to be something better coming along soon.

I also hate how every station (DIsney, Nick, Cartoon..) is coming out with their own origianl shows/movies. I know people are going to say that it's alwyas been like that, but not to this extent..

I have more I want to say, but feel it would be best said in the ANGST thread..

American Idol.  I can't believe how many people would actually wanna get humiliated by a British a** on national television!  Pretty much all reality shows in general suck.  I also despise how Cartoon Network went down the same path as Disney Channel.  If I knew it was gonna get worse, I would've asked my dad to keep Boomerang, since that's where Cartoon Network's good shows are now.

Dog the Bounty hunter and Criss Angel: Mindfreak are pretty neat, semi-reality shows.

Has anyone heard of a show called "Degrasi"?
I cannot stand the show. The idea is the daily life of a bunch of kids, as their lives go steadily further down the toilet.
Apparently, every awful thing that happens, rape, gun violence, child abuse,ect... happens to these kids alone.
Title: Re: Bad TV shows, or show ideas
Post by: superstarMASIAH on September 19, 2006, 04:01:17 PM
I despise Degrasi.  That show really depicts the average life of a teenager.  NOT, it is all a played out lie, they do not depict normal teenagers at all, well, maybe some.  Like they might depiict the average drama freak, pop-icon, jenny jones-watching, moron.  But other than that, the show pretty much sucks at depicting real teenage life.  If I ever made a show, I would make it about what I think about!!!!!!  Not what other people think about.

heh, I knew reality shows were going to get ripped a new one.  I am surprised to see people ripping very popular shows like Friends and American Idol.  But that just goes to show you that when some crappy reality show becomes the most watched show on television, people will watch anything.

Sonic Underground is the absolute worst piece of garbage ever vomited out of a DiC boardroom. It's as if they thought that Sonic would appeal to kids if they added in their superfluous madness involving chilli dogs, extra characters, post-apocalyptic metropolises and stupid, stupid hair metal. Really, I wish I knew who thought of combining hair metal and Sonic the Hedgehog so I can meet that person in a dark alley one day.

Word...  Yeah DiC has a pretty bad reputation, I don't think their slate will ever be wiped clean.  They just seem to be digging themselves into a deeper and deeper hole.  If I were an Artist out on the road looking for gigs or someone to pay for a studio for me to work in, and I got contracted with DiC.  I would likely consider that the low point in my artistical career.  As for shows like American Idol, how "Everyone watches them".  That is because they have no idea what good music or lets just say any form of Art is, they just like to go with the flow.  Really, no offense to anyone who really beleives that they like these kind of shows, but after you turn 50 and look back on all of these, you are going to be like "WTD?!" or "I thought that was good?" Seriously, I see it happen all the time, with my hippie uncles and aunts.  I know that is going to be me, but hey, at least I can say I was thinking out-side of the box instead of in.  And I am proud to say that I think that my thinking out-side of the box will actually get me somewhere.

Well, yeah, reruns I think, I just ish they still made the great shows that used to be on there.

Ed, Edd, n' Eddy is still in production. It just happens to take longer than the rest of the Cartoon Cartoons to air because it's still completely hand drawn in Canada. Well, the coloring is done on computers since Cells are dead.

Just about every show on Adult Swim. (Besides Family Guy and Futurama.) I used to watch Adult Swim, but it's just.......................meh.

You need to watch Korgoth of Barbaria, Shin-Chan, Trinity Blood and Robot Chicken. If anything, they've actually stopped pulling out stupid crap like Squidbillies and Saved by the Bell test runs.

I forgot Robot Chicken, although I've never seen the other shows. I guess I could try 'em out.

Any show like Trading Spouses should be locked away forever and its copies destroyed, and the creator should be drug out into the street and shot.

Quoted for immense truth

Seriously, if you actually think turning a skit from Chapelle's Show into an actual reality show is a good idea, you're responsible for a lot of the degeneration of today's society.

Speaking of Chapelle's Show, why'd they cancel it? The Lost Episodes are pretty funny, but a little too surreal for the normal episodes.

Well, yeah, reruns I think, I just ish they still made the great shows that used to be on there.

Actually, no. New eps of Ed, Edd, n' Eddy are being made. It's sixth season is being worked on, and it'll be set in the Winter, like how last season was set in Fall.
EDIT: Looks like Mr. Wiggles beat me, but at least I got to give some details about the new season.
And Glorb, Chapelle's Show was not cancelled. Dave Chappelle did'nt want to continue with the show, so Comedy Central aired the skits he did before he made the decision. Apparently they don't respect his opinion on the whole thing, and Dave said if they aired that, he'd never return.

Mr. Wiggles, I hate to be the one to tell you, but Squidbillies isn't a test run. It's getting a new season, so it'll be here for a while.

And DiC isn't all bad. I hated their dub of Sailor Moon, but I really liked Sonic the Hedgehog and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Jaleel did an awesome job as Sonic.

One Piece. Plain and simple.

You've obviously never seen the original.

I should've made it clear that when I said test runs, I was refering only to Saved by the Bell. I used Squidbillies as an example of one of AS's many cartoons with poor animation and lazy writing. Sure I could've used Tom Goes to the Mayor and 12 oz. Mouse but everyone already knows they suck.

DiC was good when I was around 4 or 5.  But since then, the cartoons just got less moral, and more ( I don't know how to say it ) idealistic.  They just make up stupid characters that dress cool, and say cool catch phrases.  That is the only reason that the majority of little kids watch them, well, I think so.

I hear a lot of hate for Degrassi. I've never seen that show, but I've seen commercials for it as well as other shows on the Noggin network.

By the look of it, it seems terrible. As if students have terrible lives in junior high.

(hahaha, after I typed that sentence, I chuckled to myself, as I found it ironic that I DID hate my life when I was in 7th grade, but only due to the fact that students acted like jerks to me.)

My school life is NOTHING compared to the lives of the characters in the series. I hardly ever worry about crap such as what others think of me, how I look, or some other crappy topic that show has covered.

Funny though, I know a few people who do enjoy the show...

It's all "teen drama."  When those kids go to high school, it will be "high school drama."

I'm never one to sit and think "Gosh, that chick I met today is hot.  But what if she doesn't like me?"

Frankly, I don't care.  I used to, when I was that age, but now that I've actually grown up, I just don't care about stuff like that.

Reality TV shows are completely dreadful especially 'talent shows' like X Factor and Pop Idol. Also watching people made to live for upto 10 weeks in a house full of camera's is not my  idea of entertainment.
