Latest News / Wii's Japanese Price Announced
« on: May 25, 2006, 08:50:36 PM »
I certainly hope this hasn't been posted on TMK already. I haven't seen anything about it, though.

http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2006/05/25/nintendo-announces-japanese-wii-price.htm

So the maximum price in U.S. dollars will probably be $225. Sounds like a pretty good deal. :)

Video Game Chat / Diddy Kong Racing for DS
« on: May 12, 2006, 09:47:43 PM »
Check this out. Diddy Kong Racing is back for the DS! I've never played the original game except maybe once a really long time ago, so I don't really know much about it, but it may be that there's some new stuff in this version.

Go here for a picture of the gameplay and a video!

Video Game Chat / Shadow the Hedgehog
« on: November 20, 2005, 09:35:18 PM »
I got this game yesterday, and I like it. As you probably know, Shadow the Hedgehog is a good bit different from the other 3-D Sonic-related games, since the main character is Shadow (duh), and the story is a lot darker (the darkness kinda got to me at first, but I'm getting used to it now).

Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to talk here about the storyline, so I'll just post a link for those who don't know a whole lot about the game yet. (In case you don't know what is meant by the "MILD LANGUAGE" mentioned in the rating, I'll warn you that the word "d--n" is said a lot of times in the game, even though it's rated E-10+.)

So far I've gotten to three of the multiple endings.

(SPOILERS)
I got to one where Shadow defeats Eggman and becomes the ruler of the Space Colony ARK,
one where Shadow kills (yes, kills) Eggman and becomes the ruler of the Eggman Empire,
and one where Shadow defeats Sonic and the G.U.N. Commander and uses the Eclipse Cannon to destroy the Earth (that's when you complete only Dark Missions).

Don't worry, though; none of those endings really are supposed to "happen" in the Sonic universe. In fact, the entire game might not be in the same canon as the rest of the series.

So, do you have this game? What do you think of it? Any questions about it?

EDIT: I'm AWFULLY sorry to anyone who may have seen the temporarily supersized spoilers. It was a mistake with font sizing; I meant to make them tiny text, like they are now.

General Chat / Hilarious captions in Revenge of the Sith
« on: September 04, 2005, 11:24:49 AM »
A friend of mine posted this link on the KRR message board. This is a bit old, but it was new to me and to some others. I was wondering if you all saw it before. It basically concerns captions in Star Wars Ep. 3 that were translated into Chinese and then back into English.

Link

Swear warning.

Video Game Chat / Priceless Moments
« on: May 13, 2005, 11:08:15 PM »
Post here to talk about any funny things that happened to take place in a video game.

I'll start. I once was playing Donkey Kong Country 2 with my brother in Co-op Mode. I was controlling Dixie and he was controlling Diddy. By then I had pretty well mastered the game, but my brother was still getting the hang of it. Anyway, we got to the fifth boss, the ghost (you know who I mean), and after a number of deaths, we, or more specifically I, had brought him down to the last hit. Then, when Dixie, controlled by me, was about to hit him with a barrel, she got hit and ran away. But the barrel still hit the boss, and killed him. Diddy was left, so he stole all the glory, and began to play his boom box as he collected the coin. Then Diddy's face appeared on the whole level, even though he didn't really beat the boss! My brother and I thought this was hilarious.

Forum Games / Mario Elimination Round 2: Double Time!
« on: April 05, 2005, 09:00:07 PM »
Rules:
In this elimination round, you can vote for TWO characters and boot TWO characters on each turn. Each vote gives a character 1 point, and each boot takes away 2 points (VOTE = +1, BOOT + -2). You cannot vote for the same character twice or boot the same character twice on one turn.

Right:

Vote: Mario, Luigi
Boot: Lemmy Koopa, Gooper Blooper

If you want to vote for (or boot) only one character on a particular turn, you can give that character one vote (or boot) and no more.

Game Help / N64 Help
« on: March 18, 2005, 09:59:35 PM »
I just purchased a used N64. It came without a manual and without games; I'm going to get a game (SM64) soon. Anyway, since there is no manual I'd like to ask some questions about how to use the N64; I have never owned one before.

How do you use memory cards? Is there a way to erase previous data saved on them, which was there before you got them?

I saw in the SM64 manual text on this site something about the control stick, a certain "hand configuration", and the "right position". What does this stuff mean? Is there something special I need to know about the controller?

Do any of the Mario-related N64 games need the Expansion Pack? Do any of them support the Rumble Pak?

If there's anything else you think I ought to know about the N64, please tell me. Thanks.

Video Game Chat / Kirby games.
« on: March 07, 2005, 09:27:11 PM »
How many people here are Kirby fans? Besides Mario-related games, Kirby games are my favorites. Those of you who like them, what Kirby games you have and which ones are your favorites?

I have:

Kirby's Dream Land (GB)
Kirby's Adventure (NES)
Kirby's Dream Land 2 (GB)
Kirby Super Star (SNES)
Kirby's Dream Land 3 (SNES)
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land (GBA)
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (GBA)
Kirby Air Ride (GCN) - Just got this one!

I especially like Kirby's Adventure (my first) and Kirby Super Star, and Kirby Air Ride is great so far!

Mario Chat / Wario World
« on: January 29, 2005, 09:24:00 PM »
So, what do you think about this game? I got it not too long ago, and just finished it completely tonight. It's AWESOME from start to finish! I can't believe this game is so obscure and underrated; it seems that a lot of people think the game stinks. But some, like myself, think it is a game far above average quality.

If you like this game, post here. Discuss whatever you want about it. What's your favorite enemy/boss? What's your favorite downloadable microgame? Does its instruction booklet, in your opinion, rank among the most humorous instruction booklets in existence? I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

The White Mushroom House / Wal-mart Exclusive SMA4 e-Reader cards
« on: December 20, 2004, 08:19:37 AM »
Is anybody willing to sell these cards? I missed out on them and I'm desperate to get them. The five Wal-mart Exclusive cards are: "Airship's Revenge" (Level Card), Mushroom, Flower, and 1-UP Power-up Cards, and the 4-6 Demo card (5 in all).

I'm willing to spend twenty dollars ($20) just to get these 5 cards. Please give me a reply if you are interested. I live in the U.S.

Thanks.

Forum Games / Things a Mario character would never say
« on: December 14, 2004, 03:07:37 PM »
I saw this done on the official Nintendo forum, and I thought maybe we could do it here too. What you do is think of some thing that a particular Mario character would never say. Humor, of course, is the object. But let's keep it clean, OK?

I'll start:

MARIO: Mushrooms!! YUCK!!!

Mario Chat / Petey the Piranha
« on: December 13, 2004, 04:03:52 PM »
I heard someone say once (I'm pretty sure it was on this board) that Petey the Piranha wears a bikini. Is this true?? I'd like to find out because I'm going to get a GameCube and MK:DD soon. (I heard he's in that game.)

Video Game Chat / Help!!!!! My NES stopped working!!!
« on: September 03, 2004, 02:13:55 PM »
Today my NES, which I bought a while back off Half.com by Ebay, stopped working. It had been getting worse and worse over a period of days; it could have just worn out (it's obviously old), or it could be because of a certain game or because of something I did to the system. One thing I did was turn the system on and off 3 times the other day with no game in it. (There was a reason, but it would take a while to explain.) I didn't really think this would do any harm to it, and when I put a game in afterward, it worked.
Anyway, now whenever I put a game in, even one that used to consistently work, the screen either is blank (this happens most of the time), has random glitchy graphics on it, or once in a while has the game playing on it with completely messed up graphics. Could someone please give me some advice, and tell me if turning a system on and off without a game in it usually causes it to mess up?
