Who knows what it's going to be called!  All that matters is that it's most likely going to have amazing games and it's going to become the best system around.  I wouldn't expect it to be out for a long time, because Gamecube hasn't been out that long and they usually keep their systems out for 3 or 4 years before making a new system, even if they have the ability to before then.
I can just amagine how great it will be though............

Super GAMECUBE is a good bet for the next Nintendo system. But I read at a Nintendo fan-site that Shigeru Miyamoto has predicted the GAMECUBE will be around for at least 7 to 8 years! PS2 won't even last that long!

------------------------------
"Bwa ha ha! Guess who it is, loyal Mario fans...

It is I, King Bowser... ruler of all Koopas, big and small. I have come to take over the Mushroom Kingdom (no, not the place...I mean the WEB SITE!)! Deezer, you will surrender your troops to me, or else you will never see your precious Mario again! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
People who like video games should also like Nintendo. People who don't like Nintendo obviously don't like video games.

nintendo has said Gamecube will be around seven or eight years. so they will probably begin the next Nintendo about the sixth year of GCN.

Some people have been telling me that the next system will either be called Nintendo 255(Where in the Mushroom Kingdom did they get this??), or simply, the GameCube 2.

I really don't believe either of it. Personally, I prefer Super GameCube, because it reminds me of the awesome Super Nintendo.

Oh, and to all the people who talk about the release date of the next Nintendo system. Didn't Shigeru Miyamoto said that he wanted to support the GameCube for eight years?

No one saw the DSi, New 3DS or 2DS coming. Especially the New 2DS. Anything could happen, but very unlikely. (But not impossible.)

Adding also the Wii mini.

Yeah. I agree that it probably won't look like that.

I still say a Switch Mini would keep the joycons. I don't think they'd save enough on manufacturing to make it worth leaving out the central selling point of the console. Move the Home and Capture buttons a bit and you can cut the bottom off the joycons to make the tablet about the size of a smartphone, and it'd be about as comfortable as a non-XL DS/3DS. Maybe figure out some way to make clickable circle pads instead of sticks to make it more pocketable.

But I mean it's probably going to be a while before the Switch's architecture can be miniaturized that much and still have a decent battery life, so who knows where things'll go by then?

Also on topic, I remember hearing that the console after the Gamecube would be called the Nintendo Magma or the Nintendo Go (which would have been pretty neat since it was the fifth Nintendo console and go means five).

True, but 3D was a much less substantial gimmick than hybridness, and never really caught on the way that using the Switch as both a console and handheld has so far. And it also required changing the name of the console in a way that was rather confusing to average consumers, which I'd like to think they'll try to avoid in the future.

True but if they did do a mini, the joy-cons would be too easy to lose. They'd probably keep them attached. They wouldn't need to change the name either.

If we consider the screen to be the most important for a portable console, I see three ways Nintendo could go:

1. Shrink the whole system down to the current screen size or smaller.  In other words, a Switch mini.

2. Keep the system the same size, but increase the size of the screen to remove the large black bezels.  Maybe this could be a Switch+ with a few other minor enhancements.

3.  Make a bigger XL system in proportion to the the current system screen and console size.

Assuming that you grant me the above three options:

1.  The mini would shrink the joycons so small that they would be unusable by most adults and it would go the way of the GBA micro.

2.  This seems the best bet for me, but without "a few other minor enhancements" I don't see it happening.

3.  Maybe, but I feel skipping to the next nvidia chip set would be a logical goal as it would increase performance while also increasing battery life.

1 and 3 would not work and 2 would be pointless.
