Title: <3 Valentine's Day Thread <3
Post by: Lizard Dude on February 12, 2007, 02:13:33 AM
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.play-nintendo.com%2Fimages%2Fvalentines%2FValentine-17.jpg&hash=19988a1d33bbf4b08c8b10ecdf0b0b9f)

So anyone got any good plans for Valentine's Day? Feel like wishing that special someone on the forums a happy V-Day? Here's a thread for it, created by the Lizard of Love himself.

------------

Me personally, I accidentally scheduled a "hang out" on the 14th with a girl. We've been meaning to play Magic and DDR for a while and the day happened to work with our schedules. Then this other person heard us talking and said, "Ooo, you guys have a date on Valentine's Day?" And we were like, "lol who cares?" Sorry mine wasn't very romantic. :P

Our student council thingy is selling Crush cans in friendship orange, crush grape, and love strawberry. Not only that, but the buyers can pay an extra quarter to make it a secret who it's from, and the recipients can then pay a quarter to remove that protection. In other words, the student council is making a buck-fifty off of every can with a secret. Also, I'm going to a Valentine's Day banquet with my girlfriend after school on Wednesday.

In my school, they sell roses which are sent to the classroom of whoever you sent it to. I sent one to a friend of mine whom I think actually likes me, and I think I've fallen for her as well. X3

I recently organized a small Valentine's Day Halo 2 LAN party via my friend (ironically, I organized it and I'm the only one without an Xbox). One of the teams will be pink, of course.

I'm getting a girl some roses, and writing 3 essays for my American History class.  And as if that wasn't romantic enough, I'm going to have a meeting with my old teacher for the science competition I do.  Oh, and eat about 12 pounds of "I wuv u" heart candies.  None of the other sayings though.  Only "I wuv u".

I enjoy Valentine's Day.  I think it creates very interesting scenarios.  Also, the anti-Valentine's Day thread is much bigger than this one, and I feel this one needs our support.  All those people who claim to hate Valentine's day would probably miss it if it were cancelled for the rest of time.  We'd have to tell our grandchildren about how when we were little, there was a day celebrating love.  And everyone got chocolate.  Happy times, indeed.

Just die, man.

Seeing as I don't plan on dating for awhile, and that school will most likely be closed tomorrow, I will most likely be spending Valentine's Day at home, sitting on my butt, eating Hot Pockets and drinking Rock-n-Rye Faygo, and playing Wii. Not very exciting, but satisfying enough for me.

Tomorrow, I plan on watching the TV Land Love Boat marathon all day, as the school day's been cancelled due to snow (finally! SNOOOWW!!!) That is, assuming there's a Love Boat marathon, which there should be; if not, I'll watch the Sci-Fi Channel Valentine's Day Twilight Zone Sooh-per Mare-uh-thawn, as they have one of those for every holiday.

What's wrong with liking school?

Oh, and whatever, Valentine's Day is pretty okay, but since I don't have a girlfriend, I feel like a Jew on Christmas. I don't really like holidays like this anyway, it's not so much a celebration as it is a competition to give the best present to your significant other, not caring about the fact that all of the money you spent on that stupid teddy bear could feed like, 20 people in some Third-World nation. That seems to be a better gift of love to me. But yeah, I say we just stop giving stuff on Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, etc.. It just robs the meaning of the Holiday (Unless it was originally a holiday of giving) and makes people feel bad when they don't give/get an impressive gift. Birthdays, maybe, but any other time, no. I also say we get rid of Santa and the Easter Bunny. They're stupid and pointless and make me want to harm an innocent rat.

With all your guys' schools getting canceled, I'd hate to be an elementary schooler getting his Valentine's Party canceled. Somebody think of the children!
Title: Re: <3 Valentine's Day Thread <3
Post by: Glorb on February 13, 2007, 03:23:07 PM
SS, I can't believe you hate gifts. If all everyone did on Christmas was contemplate Jesus's birth or whatever, then a whole lot of people would be left out. Same deal with Halloween, since that started out as a Pagan religious ritual called Sanhaim, then become All Saints' Day, which had little to do with the original. If it didn't become Costumes and Candy and AMC Monsterfest Day, then everyone except Pagans would be left out.

Besides, seriously, getting gifts rocks. If it's a lousy gift, it's not like you paid for it, so it's a win/win situation, sort of.

He never said he hated gifts. And how dare you get on his case for not being selfish, for caring more about other people than about getting something. You go, Solid! If only more people had that outlook.
Title: Re: <3 Valentine's Day Thread <3
Post by: CoconutMikeNIke on February 13, 2007, 03:51:47 PM
Having school canceled on Valentine's is kinda useful if someone wants to buy something for that special someone in school.  School is canceled and then the person can go late that night to get a bunch of cheap things, show up to school the next day and make it seem like they went all out for them.

Hey, what's wrong with Santa?  All he ever wanted was to give good little boys and girls gifts.  Granted, we all know that the Easter Bunny is an egg-laying mutant, but Santa is innocent!

Meh... I never really cared about Valentine's day. I used to really like it when I was a kid because the teachers made everyone give everyone else candy. Now Its just one of those other holidays that I don't really notice.

...Something else thats weird is that a whole bunch of girls are talking to me and I'm just sitting there going "uh-huh" =.

I used to really like it when I was a kid because the teachers made everyone give everyone else candy.
I always thought that was stupid. Was it meant to not hurt the feelings of a kid who might not get something otherwise?

They're stupid and pointless and make me want to harm an inocent rat.

My fiancee and I will be working tomorrow, so we had ours today (since we were both off)..

We went to lunch at a place called Colton's (we've eaten there before, very good food), and then we went back to our apartment and I gave her a card (store bought) and a DVD (The Last Unicorn, anybody heard of it/remember it?), and she gave me a Wii points card and a big kiss on the lips *blush*.

After that, we sat around and I played Wii while she figured out how to do landscape drawings (she's a very talented artist).

It's a normal Wednesday for me in that I'll be working in the early evening, but a friend of mine invited me to a Valentine's day party/gathering of sorts, so I'll be there after work, hanging out with a bunch of friends. I love those guys! Whee! Excitement! Exclaimation points! ^_^

How am I a flip-flopper? I never said I hated V-day; I expressed ANGST over the fact that so many people whine and complain and get all desperate and needy over this holiday.

That last one was Star Fox-related, not LoZ. Anyway, just look at image properties to see where LD got them.

Rather than defend love, since it's been around longer, and will still be around, longer than any of us, I'm instead going to point out the problem with the thread statement.  Other than just being wrong, as that doesn't prove anything, it's also because niether topic has stuck to the initial idea.  This thread wandered off onto a discussion of LoZ helpers, while the <X3 thread turned into a conversation about February and racism.  That, and the general of being wrong about the entire statement.

I haven't seen anybody in here yet to exhibit any kind of behavior close to that end of the love spectrum, maybe in the middle, or off towards that spectrum.  I hope people understand I'm not saying that all love sucks, and you hopeless if you think it doesn't.  Because I'm not trying to say that.

I've had an epiphone today.  No, no longer am I the pessimistic superstarMASIAH you have once know.  For I went to the mall today.  As I was walking through the mall gazing at all the pretty girls and flashy merchandise, I was walking behind a girlfriend+boyfriend couple.  I couldn't help but overhear their conversation.  The girl was complaining to the boy about how he walked and that he drags his feet everywhere they go.  Then it struck me, a moment of clarity, like when adam realized he was naked( except in a more fortunate situation).  It is a lot better to be lonely than to be in a relationship that sucks, or in more extreme cases an abusive relationship.  So I now say horray for lonliness, because it could be a lot worse than that.

Excuse me, but do you even know what the heck you're talking about?  It makes perfect sense, its so obvious that it has to make sense.  I never really noticed it untill now, I guess thats why I was awestruck when I thought of it.  If there is anything foolish about anything in here right now it is that you don't agree with it.  I mean sure it still sucks that you aren't with anyone, but when you see stuff like that, it kinda makes me glad I'm not with somebody.  It puts everything in balance.   And seriously, who are you?

So, earlier in the week I finally realised that I have much bigger fish to fry than looking for love (especially in my early 20s). Granted, this is about the third time I realised that in the last 4 or 5 months, but it felt good to not beat myself up (often literally) over something like that. I think my hangup was my relative inexperience compared to most people I know. I don't know.

Last Friday, I kissed a girl for the first time. Irony pops up in the strangest places.

PS: Ya, this thread's getting kind of bleh with the direction it's going. Keep it civil, please. Thanks.

OHNODON'TDOTHAT you'll make him complain about how he has never had a girlfriend again.

Though I do not know from experience, I'm sure being in a relationship is nice. But not being in one is just fine as well.

I don't want a girlfriend. I get all the love I need from my parents, teachers, and friends (the ones who are mature enough to not find platonic love weird, which is pretty much all of them).

SSM, I KNOW you have people who love you. Really, everyone has to be loved. Of course maybe not in a romantic sense, but there are people who care for you. Why do you think we make these long posts for you, because we hate you? We do care, somewhat. (Well, it might not seem that way to you, The Chef seems to enjoy arguing...) Why are you looking for love when it's been there all along?

"Romantic love might be nice, but platonic love can be equally meaningful and fulfilling, and romantic love is incomplete if there's no platonic love to supplement it."

Whee time for me to post about love.
"Romantic love might be nice, but platonic love can be equally meaningful and fulfilling, and romantic love is incomplete if there's no platonic love to supplement it."
Who is this quoted from, it's a very clever piece of advice.

Now for my opinion on romantic love: it's nice and it's natural, but it's not required. Everyone has the right to go through life without a partner. Of course I am not one of those people who wish to have no significant other.

I saw this one documentary about love, and I recall it saying something about love being an emotion that exists solely to assist reproduction and the commitment that follows when raising a human child, as human children are born very defenseless and need parental guidance. I dunno it went something like that, and it does make sense/

As for my current situation with romantic love, it's not really that big. I don't have a girlfriend, nor do I want one at the present time.

"The Encyclopedia Galactica's article on love says that it is much too complex and intricate to explain. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to offer on the subject of love: Avoid, if at all possible."

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy sells rather better than the Encyclopedia Galactica.

(Yes, I know that I may have misquoted the Encyclopedia Galactica. It's been a while, man.)

Love is not bad, and shouldn't be avoided. In fact, it's the best thing you could ever give or receive, and leads to other amazing (and needed) things, like care, forgiveness, and personal growth. People just distort what love is supposed to be, sullying it and causing others to feel jaded. Love isn't what hurts us; the actions and attitudes of broken people (including ourselves) is what hurts us.

Who is this quoted from, it's a very clever piece of advice.
Thanks! :)  To continue with the thought...

Platonic love is complete by itself. Romantic love might be a nice bonus, an addition to the fullness of platonic love, but it's never complete by itself; alone it will always leave you empty and unfulfilled.
Another way to look at it is this: a romantic relationship is doomed to fail if there's not already a strong, deep friendship already there, because when the romance dies down, there's nothing left to the relationship.

In fact, I would say that if a person finds him or herself deeply longing, pining for a romantic relationship (or loathing them, for that matter), there's probably some sort of discord and disconnection in his or her friendships and other non-romantic relationships, either real or perceived. If perceived, it's likely due to one's own insecurities, which need to be realized and worked through. A romantic relationship won't solve these insecurities or feelings of disconnection, and it's probably a bad idea until you can feel deeply connected to others (platonically).

Note that this is different from thinking a romantic relationship would be nice or not being interested in one at the time.

A couple weeks ago, I wrote down some thoughts of mine regarding love and relationships (of any kind), some things I'm learning, and what kind of person I'm striving to be. It's directly related to my faith, which I understand not all of you believe, and I respect that.  I thought I'd share it with you guys. You can find it here (http://kontek.net/starhaven/love.html).

Erm, being unattractive (or thinking you're unattractive) = lower self-esteem = greater likelihood of thinking people are "out of your league" and not developing feelings for them when in actuality that's just a misperception.

Also, love would be a lot easier if Saph's view on love were the norm and not the exception among most women my age.

I don't actually consider myself unattractive; in fact, I'm so attractive that...uh, I don't know. My sense of fashion, I'm told, is lacking in, shall we say, uncrappiness. My fashion sense is the same as Glorb's, only replace the StH shirt with a bunch of wrestling T-shirts and bold single colored shirts.

I'd get some of those awesome novelty T-shirts they sell at Hot Topic but I refuse to go near that store full of goth/emo kids. Yeah, I still dislike them, though I'd rather be stuck in a room full of goths rather than one with emo kids. Partially due to the fact that goth girls can be pretty hot when they're not acne ridden and faking a british accent, and also because they know how to take a joke.

Here's how alledgedly bad my fashion sense is: I often wear pajama shirts when I can't wear any other shirt (i.e., it's on fire). In fact, I just reach into the shirt drawer and yank something out, which often turns out to be a pair of underwear or even a skirt. Thankfully, I usually retain enough consciousness im the morning to avoid wearing underwear in place of a shirt.

If they're judging  based on looks, they need to grow up a little bit. Only kids want something after seeing it. My 2 1/2 year old future niece does that. She sees some toy on tv that she wants and she'll say "Mom, can you buy that for me?"

Now, I'm saying I'm more mature or anything, but when I first saw my fiancee, I thought she was beautiful, and the first thing I remember thinking about her was "Hey she's cute! I could marry her." I know that sounds really shallow, but I somehow knew when I first saw her that I wanted her to be by my side forever, even though she barely knew I existed.

I spent several years getting to know her, and we even dated off and on for a couple of years. I spent a couple of years getting to know her, and found that we had many things in common (love of video games, for one). I found out that she's shy like I am (unless she really knows a person), she knows a lot about plants and animals, and she has a very pretty smile.

Er.. anyway, I'm trying to say that I am proud to have a found a girl with brains. It's a lot more fun to be with somebody smart. :)

You go Toad!

I'm sure you aren't her fiance right now solely because of her looks. ^_^

Hanging out with people who actually know something is much more fun than hanging out with airheads, in my opinion. What if you want to talk about something seriously? That person will NOT know how to get serious because those people are usually all fun and games. What if all of the sudden you don't want to play anymore? That person will not know how to stop. Then he/she will be useless in the matter.

Why are we still talking about Valentine's Day when it's March?
[/offtopic]

Because this is the "Let's talk about whatever we bring up" topic.

Yeah, you don't just "hook up" with someone because you find them hot.  You get to know the person, then you can know whether or not you could put up with him/her in a long relationship.  But...that's not what some of our music tells us today, is it?  Hollywood is a fine example of "hooking up for headlines."  I hope I can find a girl who I can get to know and find out she's even more beautiful on the inside than the outside.  Not just someone who's a "hawt one nighter."  I know God has someone out there specially picked for me.

Anyway, sorry about that rant.  I just get so tired of people saying "Whoa, dat girl is (explicit) hawt!  I want to (explicit) her without any commitment!"  Or not saying anything if a girl is less than desirable to them.
I tell ya, sometimes, I think hotness is a curse.

Well, I do, but I'd rather spend my time online entertaining you guys than some girl who would probably not get half the jokes and references I make. Title: Re: <3 Valentine's Day Thread <3
Post by: Koopaslaya on February 14, 2008, 06:31:14 PM
I don't celebrate this holiday outside of its religious purpose (the celebration of a saint's feast day). I usually only celebrate holidays with a small group of people if the said holiday carried some important significance. For instance, I will celebrate the 4th of July, but not with fireworks and other sillyness. I will celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday, and I downplay the giving of gift as much as humanly possible. I celebrate Easter because, again, of its religious significance. I know a lot of people here will have a mouthful to say about my celebrating religious holidays, but that is not the reason for this post.

I do not like to be duped by the silly media and industries that fabricate holidays for profit. Furthermore, I find the interpretation of romance found on this day to be rather sickening. "Show your love by buying things" is not really accurate. That reduces love to a feeling, something which it is not.

I have the same problem with mother's day and father's day. They both are built around the premise that you show your love by buying things for ma or pop. I would rather (and so would they) me spend time with them then spend money on them.

Does not apply to me. I've never been in a relationship and this day has yet to bring down my spirits. Mainly because I'm very self centered and greedy.

I also find it pretty worthless to spend this day hating the holiday and trying to rebel against it by arguing about its commercialization and wearing custom shirts. It only makes you look like your bitter that you can't get laid. instead, I just swipe all the free candy I can get and spend my time existing like always. Then I go online to read about the latest school shooter who happened to fail worse than Cho if only because his total count was incredibly low.

sup.

I need a shirt like that... And what's "stoplight day"? Sounds like something that'd make my blood boil...

Stoplight day is a day where you wear a different traffic light color depending on relationship staus.

Red = taken

Yellow = friendship/complicated

Green = single

and of course...my alternative (my t-shirt.)

I would quit school if they had that. It's just stupid. I don't care about some stupid love holiday anyway. If you love someone, show it to them every day, instead of celebrating some stupid holiday to do it.

Actually, to be honest, this is the first time I'm not spending this holiday by myself (though I probably wouldn't care much if I was, this day is pretty much just another day for me).

I've kept it from most people, but for a month or so now I've been speaking with a guy who is really nice, and has a lot in common with me. He used to live in my area, but now lives in the city, yet comes back here periodically to visit his old friends here, and I'll be meeting him tomorrow to do stuff. =D

(Mainly, going out to eat something like Burger King, returning to my house for some Wii playing, and then a movie, possibly.)

I've got a feeling most couples are spending the holiday tomorrow rather than today, being a Thursday and not a Friday/weekend.

this being the first time I've been in a relationship on February 14th...

Valentine's Day still sucks and is a pathetic excuse for a holiday.

As for "tag team brainwashing", I think Sweetest Day is hilariously worse than today only because it has no shame at all admitting it's a ruse to sell cards/candy and there's STILL people who get mad if their boyfri s/os don't buy them things.

Still no one's really answered my question of: if Valentine's Day sucks so much, for instance, which holidays are legit and why?

In my humble opinion, any holiday, no matter what its deal is, is cool because it's still an excuse for the day to be different and an excuse for stuff to get interesting. Heck, I wish every day had some random theme with maybe one generic day off per week to rest.

They're all truly dumb reasons if you dig down enough.

Yay we stole a continent from the American Indians?

Yay a guy supposedly rose from the dead (zombie)?

Yay give each other gifts because we're in the middle of freezing winter and have no crops and would commit suicide otherwise?

Yay let's celebrate labor by not working?

Come on people. Stop whining every single holiday because you have to buy crap for greedy people. It's just how it works. Like taxes for your social life.

I plan to go out to Target with the g/f for more candy.

That reminds me about the scene at Target Wed. night.  I found the Valentine's section.  One side of the shelves had been stripped completely clean.  In the other aisle was a crazy mob of all ages ransacking the remaining candy.

Oh, the g/f and I went on a post-Valentine's Day candy buying road trip to every Walgreens' we can find.

Final haul:

8 24-pack boxes of Fun Dip
12 large bags of candy conversation hearts
7 24-pack boxes of candy necklaces
3 rather larger chocolate assortments
1 really, really cheesy looking DVD of Mario cartoons made in 1990

overall cost: ~$70. only $45 without the chocolate and the DVD

Title: Re: <3 Valentine's Day Thread <3
Post by: Koopaslaya on February 19, 2008, 02:21:37 PM
To defend my statement about love, I would like to examine what it means to love. I said that love it not a feeling. Love may make you feel good, it may make you happy and all giddy inside, and that is good. But love also can make you feel like crap, love is tough. If love can cause any number of feelings, how can it itself be a feeling? Simply put, it cannot be a feeling. Love is a state that is permanent and lasting. It cannot be ephemeral. If you think that you're in love, but you get your jollies from another person and it lasts a week, then that undermines the true power of love.

Love is not always easy: a lot of times, it hurts and it feels awful. Feeling "good" (by the modern understanding of "good," not "Good") is always. It's much easier to leave the person you if they mess up than to stay with them. It hurts sometimes to tell someone that you love that they might not accept. But in order to truly love, both parties must be in a state of complete trust and faith in the other person. If love were only a feeling that is the same as "feeling good," then people could eat, drink, or do any number of other activities to reach that same "feeling good."

Furthermore, you don't say to your loved one "I feel like I love you." You tell her or him "I love you." There, no feeling is involved. You are saying that you trust that person and wish to spend time with him or her and that you are willing to live your life for that other person. You are not telling him or her that you get butterflies in your stomach whenever you see him or her (while, that very well might be a side-affect of love). To limit love to a feeling is to really undermine love
s true meaning and power.

Also, I as I figured, I would get a mouthful from somebody about my remarks concerning Easter. We wouldn’t have Valentine’s day today as we know it if it were not for a Catholic Saint who died professing his love for Jesus, the “zombie” of whom you spoke. I was not attacking any religious points of view (or lack thereof) that you may hold, and I certainly would appreciate it if you did not attack mine on this friendly board.

Come on people. Stop whining every single holiday because you have to buy crap for greedy people. It's just how it works. Like taxes for your social life.

I am afraid that this is an extremely shallow and cynical view of the human person and society. Shouldn’t friendship be something freely given, and not bought? Gifts are great, they are a sign of friendship and fraternal love (the Greeks called this Philos). Gifts, however, are not “taxes” as you suggest. You seem to say that all holidays are the same as tax day. Most people, including myself, loathe tax time. Using simple Aristotelian logic, we can be sure that you, too, hate all holidays.

Taxes are expected, as part of a social contract of sorts between man and his government. Gifts do not act in the same way at all. “I am your friend only if I get x, y, and z for Christmas (or should I say the holiday that falls on December 25?).” I desire no friendships that involve my bank account as its main source. To reduce gifts to “social taxes” is to suggest that we have no true friends, just partners in business. While gifts may be symbols of our affection toward our friends, they cannot BE our friendships. Friendship must be based on a open, free choice to stand by another person through all times, regardless of gifts.

I can honestly that my best friend since 4th grade has still never purchased for me one gift. I have returned the favor. We remain best friends, and no “social taxes” are involved.

I am sorry that I wrote so much. I certainly hope that this does not evolve into a theological debate or a flame war. I am sincerely hoping to simply share thoughts. Please, if you will, be respectful in your responses.

Thank you.

I definitely agree with this. As an example, our very own Bird Person has talked about his dilemmas in gift-giving among his friends. He seems to think that he needs to reciprocate the value of a gift given to him in the form of a gift given to the original giver. In this manner, gifts become nothing more than trades. Gifts are just that. Gifts. No obligations should come with a gift; just feelings.

my Gravis Gamepad Pro seems to be having trouble with accepting 236 inputs.

That's the best euphemism I've ever heard.

Our school promoted these dorky "Valentine's Week" activities including "Wear Pink/White/Red Day", a Jello-eating contest, and a Newlywed Game rip-off.

That can't even really be taken as a euphemism. Maybe if I had been talking about an arcade stick rather than a gamepad, but as it is now, no.

And you only think those activities are dorky because you don't have a girlfriend, and your boyfriend was banned from the forums.

Didn't you learn about the basic human anatomy in ninth-grade biology?
Eleventh grade, actually. Our school was fairly puritanical.

And yeah, it's her.

Good for you Cross. Don't disappoint us now.

Congrats. :)

I gave a female friend of mine a box of Krispy Kremes for the day because she likes them a lot. Surely enough, she made a strange happy yelping noise and hugged me in front of a large percentage of the school, it was nice though.

I suppose it's all relative, but my sex ed pretty much consisted of friends on the playground and the internet. I mean, we got the basics in elementary school, but it wasn't much I didn't already know about after a long shower.

This should come as a surprise to probably... no-one.

I've never received "the Talk" from my parents.

TMI, buddy. TMI.

Me either.  It really is good to know the basics, but as for the rest.  You just find out on the internet, either that or it really does come naturally.  Just kind of Trial and Error, or fill in the blanks.

So, when are your parents going to explain to you how to put your own socks on?

I was this close to starting a new V-Day topic, because I forgot about this one at first, the search engine was being its usual unhelpful self, and there was a "Valentines Day!" thread back in '04 (with some very upbeat posts, I might add!).

So then, anybody here doing someonething special for this February 14?

Nope.  Just going to scarf down chocolate, as usual.

I go to a community college for four classes in the morning, so the odds are smaller than ever that I'll have a chance to acknowledge the holiday, even if I want to. I'll probably just get nauseous off candy from elderly relatives and pet my cats. Maybe glance at the punk girl who works at the library for a little longer than ususal, but nothing beyond that.

I made him a little something that's just sickeningly cute (and corny). I'll share if anyone is interested in seeing it. In all honesty, i'm patiently awaiting Tuesday so the candy sales can begin!

Why is this crossed out? Day After Valentine's Day Drug Store Raid For 50% Off Candy Day >>>>> Valentine's Day

Also my Valentine's Day will probably involve my g/f and I's traditional "pound of bacon" for dinner Valentine's Day meal. And a lot of stats homework :(

I, for one, am quite curious about Pt's Valentine offering.

Also my Valentine's Day will probably involve my g/f and I's traditional "pound of bacon" for dinner Valentine's Day meal.

That's the best euphemism I've ever heard.

This would be the perfect opportunity to redirect you to that comic about pretend but I can't find it at all. All I get is more Advice Dog spin-offs.

The day has arrived! It's time to... what? Is that the sound of a melodramatic half-comic hitting xkcd? Away I go!

EDIT: Oh, it's an old joke about microscopes. False alarm.
