There's more than two groups, you forgot Revolutionaries, Moderates, and Reactionaries.

I'd consider myself a moderate, though I really don't care, as I detest politics.

Left (Liberal)
Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

Right (Conservative)
Conservatives tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates "traditional values." They oppose excessive government control of business, while endorsing government action to defend morality and the traditional family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong military, oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market economy, and endorse strong law enforcement.

Libertarian
Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

Statist (Big Government)
Statists want government to have a great deal of power over the economy and individual behavior. They frequently doubt whether economic liberty and individual freedom are practical options in today's world. Statists tend to distrust the free market, support high taxes and centralized planning of the economy, oppose diverse lifestyles, and question the importance of civil liberties.

Centrist
Centrists espouse a "middle ground" regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice. Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind, tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.

I'm a Centrist.  I lean right, left, libertarian, or statist depending on the issue and/or test.  Speaking of test, there are many online that you can take if you are not sure where you fall.  If you want a real short one try http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html  There are many more indepth tests, but that's a good place to start.

I'm not left wing, or right wing.  I prefer to remain on the ground and watch birds run into each other.  So, I be closest to the central guys.

Of those, liberal is closer to my stance, but I'm most closely libertarian.

I think I was 90% personal, 80% economic.

I feel this is fairly accurate. I believe in very conservative ideas. I don't like the government getting too involved in everything. I think more power should be given to the local communities. Taxes and spendings should be cut. Social Security needs a reform (Age up to 70 or 75). Welfare should be imporved to force people to get jobs. Although, I do have a problem with medicare-- It is merely Sickcare. We need a reform to that so that it covers people regardless if they are sick.

I figured I'd be in or near Centrist.  According to the quiz, I wasn't far off the dot.  Libertarian, but the dot pretty is placed close to Centrist.  So I think I would fall between Libertarian and Centrist.  I don't know that much about politics, so I don't show much concern for it.

Makes sense. I'd consider myself more conservative than liberal, but pretty well balanced--right in between, like my score shows. It depends on the issue for me. I tend to be mostly conservative with "moral issues." Other issues vary.

Seriously I have no idea what these groups are for or about, I admit that I hear them all the time, but as for their foundations, I know nothing.  So I just go with what I believe is right, wether it is considered Libertarian, Statist, or Centrist.  And I refuse to be catagorized in such ways, the only catagorization that I might consider being catagorized in is the Free Thinkers catagory.

If you're referring to the fact that the point is in the direction of Statist/Conservative, that doesn't mean anything. I just put it at a random point outside the diagram. :P

I looked at the quiz, but I wasn't able to answer some of those questions due to their generalness and other factors, so I'd just be placed somewhere around Conservative and Centrist based on the "results".

(Then again, if you're referring to the fact that Hitler would've considered himself "above" the politcal spectrum, I wouldn't consider myself above it-just outside it.)

It's already been proven that that "Worl'd Smallest Political Quiz" is oudated and too confined. Hence why the vast majority of people who take it end up with Libertarian or Centrist.

However while I'm here, I've got to say that based on my own experiences, I find it a little ridiculous when people under the age of 16 have strong political views. It's teenager syndrome. People of that age tend to have this idea that they know a lot more than they actually do. Back when I was groing up, from the age of 10-14, I blindly regurgitated my father's political views without thought. After that I randomly began to get that sort of rebellious streak in me at which point my political views leaned more to the left side. Now that I'm a full fledged adult, my politics have shifted back towards the right, however now I have my own views rather than simply rehearsing what I hear my father say. I suppose it all goes back to the old saying "If you're young and conservative, you have no heart. If you're old and liberal, you have no brain."

And no, that little rant wasn't aimed at anyone in this thread. Just a brief reflection. As a political science major, I find the process of developing one's beliefs, as well as their reasoning, pretty neat.

I admire the Libertarian Party's extreme pro-civil rights view. They say that the government's only responsibility is to protect its citizens, but I wonder how much power the corporations would get under the lack of regulation that is favored by the Libertarians.

Honestly, I'd rather see the republicans go more conservative in 2012. I like Palin. Part of the reason I didn't like McCain much was becaues he kept trying too hard to be the nice guy. The moderate. What did it get him? Alienation from his core voter base and the Obama campaign was still able to portray him as the big, bad, Bush buddy.

Really, the republicans are going to need to go Palin/Jindal in 2012. Bobby Jindal is their secret weapon right now. He's 37 I think now, so in 4 ears he'll be the prime age for running, so until then he can train in secrecy to prepare for the upcoming battle against the evil emperor. He's Luke Skywalker in a way.
But yeah. If that's not the ticket, I'll probably vote for Bob Barr should he run.

I believe the government should be divvied up more amongst the people and the states on non-major issues such as drinking age, death penalties, drugs, smoking laws, sex rights and Animal rights. I believe in the protection of personal freedoms rather then sacrificing them for public safety. That's all I really care about because I loathe politics.

Back when I was in Space Camp, they were planning on Mars in 2020. Too bad they fired NASA people so they could use their paychecks to make DTV converters for the mindless masses.

No way! Space expansion FTW!

Although experimenting with resonance cascades would likely yield more results.
