Hot dog! I haven't been here for a while, but I thought of a game. I think of a weapon, and the next person has to think of a stronger one to trump mine, and so on:

A stone.

As far as 3-D Mario platformers go, Mario has secured a royal castle, a tropical island, and even outer space -- the final frontier. Now what comes after the final frontier? Street lamps, of course. My next-gen game concept, entitled Super Mario Street Lamps for Legs, follows a disgruntled Mario right after a plumbing accident in which both of his legs were ripped off. In the absence of artificial limbs, Mushroom Kingdom surgeons replace Mario's legs with some street lamps. Mario is now capable of a number of new techniques, such as shining the light from his feet into enemy's eyes. Admittedly, that maneuver only works at night. Also admittedly, that's probably the only new technique. Still, Super Mario Street Lamps for Legs will result in a new twist in our favorite franchise! Feel free to post ideas for this explosive new game.

General Chat / Classical music
« on: June 25, 2008, 10:09:12 PM »
I've noted before that I am not very keen on the idea of a musical genre -- it limits expression. But if I had to choose a zenith to all music, it would be classical. It is impossible to find music with more intelligence or emotion, in this way it exposes the shocking tastelessness of today's pop music. What irks me is when I ask young people my age if they like classical. Most say that it's too boring, which is an indication of their lack of musicality. I've also been told it doesn't have enough anger. Listen to some Rachmaninov and you will find more ferocity than any screamo band out there. And classical composers all have incredibly interesting lives, Beethoven being probably the best example. For such beautiful music to come from a deaf man is truly a notable human achievement. Let's all give some love to classical.

Oh, and if you appreciate classical, what are your favorite composers? I'm mainly into Brahms, Chopin, Beethoven, and Handel.

Not at the Dinner Table / Abortion
« on: June 19, 2008, 01:48:42 PM »
Now this is a tricky question. I think that the choice should remain. I can see why one would value not only life but potential life as well,  but I can also see when a young woman would need an abortion at an inconvenient time in her life, like high school. It just bothers me when the hard-headed pro-life population views someone who aborts their baby as heartless and sadistic. I've even heard words like "immature" being thrown at those that are pro-choice. You would have to be very emotionally mature to abort your own child. The fact is nobody wants to abort, it just seems necessary sometimes. Anyway, I'd say I'm pro-choice, but I can sympathize with at least the intelligent ones for pro-life. Alas, there are buffoons on both sides, but that's true for any argument.

What do you guys think?

Mario Chat / The Big Band of Rogues
« on: June 07, 2008, 10:33:12 PM »
Many of you probably already know about The Big Band of Rogues, but the word must be spread. They're a Japanese big band that plays kick butt covers of Mario and Zelda songs. I heard these recordings for the first time a few weeks ago and I was awestruck. My personal favorite is the SM64 Opening Theme/Overworld.

Game Help / Blasted heart pillars

How do I find the heart pillar after Chapter 4 in Super Paper Mario? I'll admit I haven't looked around much, but I just get tired of searching for these gosh-darned things.

Not at the Dinner Table / The homeless

Got any in your town? We got some and if you spend enough time downtown you know their names too. Theres...

Crazy Jim - Rumored Vietnam vet who sits outside the Tobacco Bowl and mutters to himself.
Dollah Bill - Guy in a orange and green coat and a backpack who walks around all the time and turns up in random places.
Titanic extra - There's a hobo who claims that he was an extra in Titanic and they screwed him over.
Valentine - Sits in various places in the ped mall with a cardboard sign.
??? - Scary dude who wears a wrestling singlet and seems to store things in it. He also wraps pantyhose around his head and walks around with a dazed expression.

Anyway, I always try to lend some change. I've had a few discussions with some of the hobos and some are actually pretty intelligent. I recommend striking up a conversation with one of the sometime. They have many experiences and lots to say.

Video Game Chat / What to say?
« on: May 26, 2008, 04:37:55 PM »
My mom might buy me a wireless router, in order for me to have Wi-Fi Wii. But right now, being nervous and estranged to anything technological, she is convinced that said wireless router will have terrible security and corrupt our home computer. What should I say to change her mind? Any good arguments?

If this is too difficult of a question for you to answer, then I recommend sleeping on it. I don't blame you; all of the toilet seat threads are great in their own ways.

Are blue, red, special, and Bowser spaces truly enough for the next Mario Party? The answer is obviously no. I feel that we could all make some pretty neat new spaces. Let your creativity soar and make some humorous or practical Mario Party spaces. Here is mine:

General Chat / Official Michael Jordan Appreciation Society
« on: May 15, 2008, 06:02:14 PM »
Never will I forget the golden morning of November 1st, 2003, when a man entered our midst. He has been regarded as the greatest NBA player of all time, and I'm sure he was unaware that he would soon be regarded as the greatest TMK member as well. I am, of course, speaking of Michael Jordan. Whether he is the actual basketball star, we will never know, but we have been graced by the presence of a gentle, gentle man either way. Who could forget such favorites as:

Let's just say they're Hanes.

...or...

No, I'm Michael Jordan.

Folks, we can pretend to ignore his modesty, devilish looks, and enormous influence on our comparatively uncool lives, but he is truly too spectacular to do such a thing. Post all Michael Jordan appraisal and fan fiction here.
