Not at the Dinner Table / May 25
« on: May 16, 2009, 03:35:17 PM »
On May 25, the United States government is "supposed" to give a disclosure on all known information on the subject of UFOs and extraterrestrial life.

Discuss.

EDIT: Just a little fun, fellas. How many of you have seen that silly History Channel ad?

Mario Chat / Should Waluigi just lie?
« on: April 28, 2009, 01:20:25 AM »
I mean...he's the President, and we caught him having sexual relations with that woman. Some say he should just lie about it to avoid trouble.

We haven't found WMPR (Weapons of Mass Price Reduction) in Iraq. Should Waluigi lie about our intentions for invading Iraq or should he tell the truth? He hasn't exactly been truthful about our torture policy either.

During the last election, Waluigi's advisors apparently broke into the Democratic Local Committee headquarters at the Motel 6 complex in Paris, Texas. He kind of lied about that too. Let's not forget about the controversial Bay of Even-Toed Ungulate's invasion funded by the WFA (Waluigi Fanboy Association).

Seriously, I'm sick of Waluigi always lying. Out of the 53 presidents, he is (without a doubt) the worst.

Please shoot me for creating this topic.

Not at the Dinner Table / Somali pirate being tried in the US
« on: April 21, 2009, 12:09:33 PM »
The sole-surviving Somali pirate from the hostage-taking of an American tanker is being tried in the United States. His mother, however, appealed to President Obama for his release.

What do you think Obama should do? I personally think the kid should be pardoned. We should show him a little mercy and let him go.

Not at the Dinner Table / Evolution in school and whatnot
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:08:51 AM »
So...I'm gonna be the devil's advocate and say that evolution should be regarded as a fact. I don't think intelligent design should be taught in school because we can't test it scientifically. That doesn't mean I don't believe in God...I just don't think intelligent design/creationism should be taught in school.

Not at the Dinner Table / Nuclear Weapons
« on: April 09, 2009, 11:29:27 PM »
What is your opinion on nuclear weapons? Some argue that we should do away with them for the safety of mankind, but others argue that they keep us out of WWIII (see mutually assured destruction).

I personally think we should get rid of them, but I don't see it happening...ever. So what do you think?

General Chat / Feats of Strength
« on: March 11, 2009, 12:34:47 AM »
Have you guys ever done something outrageously tough/strong before?

My friend and I, a few years back, wanted to see how long a human could go without a full night's sleep. "I think we oughta go an entire week without sleep," said my friend. "Let's go for two weeks if we can. Just...let's do it. It'll be awesome." So on Saturday, we didn't go to bed. In order to keep our energy up, we drank a lot of soda. For the first few nights, it was actually kind of easy. Sure, I was tired, but it was bearable.

After about a week however, I started hallucinating. It was really weird and almost surreal to say the least. At one point, I though my dog was coming out of my ceiling (I know, go ahead and laugh). On the 9th day of the experiment, I collapsed and woke up a few hours later. My friend had called it quits about a day before that. I was a little bummed that I couldn't go a little longer, but...it was fun.

So...have any of you guys done something similar to this? It doesn't have to be physically daunting, btw.

Not at the Dinner Table / New Presidential Poll
« on: February 16, 2009, 01:57:06 PM »
Here is the new/most recent presidential poll. Scroll down the page and take a look at the CSPAN poll. They do a new poll every 4 years or so. So how did your favorite president fare?

The two most recent presidents, Bush and Clinton, dropped and rose big, respectively. Bush is ranked 36 and Clinton is 15. My favorite president, Ronald Reagan, is ranked 10th.

General Chat / Interesting fact(s) about you
« on: February 15, 2009, 04:11:33 AM »
Here's a topic where you can post an interesting fact about yourself. Just a little breath of fresh air to start interesting conversation.

I am related to Sir Henry Morgan (better known as Captain Morgan) the notorious Welsh privateer/pirate who made his name in the Caribbean. My great-great-great grandfather was Welsh and was distantly related to Morgan all the way back to his great-great-great uncle. The difference between me and Morgan is about 7 or 8 generations.

Evidentially, we also share the same last name, and my father shares his father's full name (Robert Morgan). No, I haven't killed 300 men in the Colon Province and I don't know a thing about pirating in general. I am not proud of what my ancestor did.

EDIT: Oh yeah, before anyone asks, I hate rum. They should've picked a different pirate as the logo/mascot, 'cause no one actually remembers him for who he was or what he did (not that what he did was worth remembering, but whatever).

EDIT2: Hm...it would appear as if I had forgotten about SJ's "10 facts about you" topic from a year or so ago. How about in this one, you must post only one interesting topic about yourself and elaborate on it. Sound fair enough?

Where's the thread where I say how much of a nutjob you're being right now?

You asked for it.

Video Game Chat / Ghostbusters: The Video Game
« on: January 23, 2009, 10:04:01 PM »
Are there any Ghostbuster geeks on this site? If so, are you eagerly awaiting the new game coming out in June of this year? I know I am. I can't wait to get my virtual hands on a proton pack and start busting some inter dimensional skulls (wait, do ghosts even have skulls?).

I have high hopes for this game, mainly because they actually got the original four voice actors (Bill, Dan, Harold, and Ernie) to reprise their roles. That alone says that Atari is putting some effort into it. The action looks promising and by the looks of it, anything your proton beam hits explodes in an exhilarating fashion (the fan boy inside me is squealing with joy). Maybe I'm a bit biased because Ghostbusters is my all time favorite movie, but I think I'm still gonna buy it (even if the reviews are negative). Anyone else psyched about it?

Here's the trailer if you're interested or haven't seen it yet.
