How many names have you thought of that were puns on the Lakitu name?

Cop-itu: Lakitu cop

Wok-itu: Lakitu cook

Shock-itu: Lakitu in a thunder cloud (like the one in New SMB)

Chalk-itu: Lakitu teacher

Mock-itu: Not a Lakitu. Mabey a Shyguy in a cloud?

Mach-itu: Lakitu race driver

Knock-itu: Lakitu door-to-door salesperson

Talk-itu: Lakitu telemarkter

Lakitu-tu: Lakitu Ballerina (I am well aware that someone has posted a picture of this particular Lakitu..)

Edit: Me and a friend made "Demented Lakitu" its when you use the Mario modifiers (gameshark) on SM64 and you're Lakitu.

I've always been under the impression that the "a" in Lakitu is pronounced as it is in "Jack", although I could be wrong. Huh. Regardless,

That's the way I've always said it, although I kind of have a thing for the "luh-KEE-too" pronunciation.
