Positive Reenforcement has to be done after something positive is done. Trust me, my sister took a Child Psychology course and told me a bunch of stuff in it. Small kids must be first shown kindness so they see you as an ally, then negativie reenforcement is used to show them what they can and can't do. After the child knows right and wrong, you bust out the positive renforcement. After the newbies do something correctly and stop being annoying, then I reenforce them positively.

That's child pshycology, not sociology.  Child pshycology is dealing with a child.  Newbies are a group of teens and preteens.  There's a difference.  And what looks bad to you might not look bad to others.  I learned that a long time ago... *stares off into space with regrettful memories*
