Bodies too elongated, would not buy.

But really, I'm not sure if I'll bother this time. Both WW and CF are gathering dust (and weeds) at the moment.

But I thought Nintendo only recognises PM:TTYD as a game that nothing should ever be similar to ever.

I didn't like Wild World because the framerate was horrible. I didn't like City Folk because, like SM64DS, its idea of adding new things was mostly taking the things you already had and putting them in a more inconvenient place. New Leaf fixes all of that, and will be the first time I've really gotten into an Animal Crossing game since the Gamecube one, which I played the hell out of when I was thirteen.

I just checked in on my Gamecube town for the first time in three years. It's a three-level town, which was apparently kind of rare. Tortimer never built a bridge in the one place we needed one, though, so it's a little inconvenient to get around. Not that much, though, since it still feels so familiar. All my favorite villagers are still there. I'm pretty sure I have all the NES games except for Mario Bros, including Super Mario Bros and Zelda. Still have embarrassing stuff about the girl I had a crush on in the diary there. The lost and found at the police station is still filled with oranges. Still have some but not all of the super-secret Mario items.

I had been saving a couple bugs for the Bug-Off last week, and then I ended up winning with a 114-point birdwing butterfly that I caught right next to Nat's tent.

Also, guys can wear dresses now.

Oh, and when you're buying paintings and statues from Redd now, you can actually tell whether they're genuine if you're familiar enough with the real-life one. That's pretty cool.

Yeah. I have to say I was almost disappointed by City Folk, since it felt like WW+.

I say almost because it was nice to play on the tv again, so my wife could get more into it. She hated playing WW because of the DS's small screen.

I guess I could trade-in WW for NL..  I don't know what the point would be though, if Nintendo is just going to turn around and make NL+ on the Wii U. Eventually.

When Animal Crossing: City Folk came out I really wasn't impressed. I decided from here on out that I'd skip every other Animal Crossing so that the overall new-ness from game to game would increase. It also lets the hunger build up. I'm pretty pleased with New Leaf. I think I prefer them on handhelds now.

How does character customization work in thie game? Do your facial features still depend on your answers to the questionnaire at the beginning?

I haven't played Animal crossing before, but that sounds a little racist to me.

EX: Question: What food do you like?
Answer: Chicken
Computer Thinks: lets make this guy black

The most difficult part I'm having with this game is that shops are mostly only open during daytime hours, when I'm almost always only awake during the night. Not even the ordinances help out with this.

Otherwise, I'm definitely having a lot better time with this version of Animal Crossing than I did with the GameCube version. Never played City Folk or Wild World.

How does one amass Play Coins? I don't have a single one at the moment, so I mustn't be doing it right.

EDIT: I managed to get a few by shaking it vigorously for a couple minutes, but it's odd that I didn't have a single one until now.

By walking. If you don't have one you aren't walking with it. And when I mean walking I mean like walking around the block not to the refrigerator.

Fun! It was my first time actually using the wi-fi for the game, but overall, it was very successful, with very small lag issues. My one complaint is that I never had enough room in the chat logs; I'm terrible at short statements.

Apparently; everyone in my town says that too. I think I visit them a lot.

Also, one time I accidentally whacked Bluebear with a net (?) and she was mad at me. Since I didn't want to leave her mad, I paced around with her until she calmed down. When I talked to her again she acted like nothing happened.

If all else fails, use fire

Your town will start out with just one fruit. To get more fruit, collect a bunch of your native fruit. Then, write a letter to one of the animals as the addressee and write "How are you?". Put the fruit into the letter and send it off from the post office.

Often, when the animals answer, they send forgein fruits back. That's the way it went in the Gamecube and Wii games, anyway.

If it's your first time getting music, he won't ask for requests.  He'll just play you a song and give it to you.  After that you can make requests and such again.  This is how it worked in City Folk at least, and I think Wild World, too.  It helps so that people who don't know what K.K.'s deal is won't request some useless song, get nothing worthwhile out of it, and wander off without knowing you can get music.

Which actually happened to me way back when the first game came out.

For every day in an Animal Crossing town, 3 weeds grow. There are 365 days in a year, and you've been away for 7.5 years, which translates to about 2738 days.

With this in mind you would theoretically have to pick about 8212 weeds to restore the town to its original weedless state.

I had a similar experience, except my villagers instead mentioned times between 50~70 months. Except Bob. Bob is the best villager.

He's a sort of flirty squirrel.  He's been a good neighbor so far, but he's moving out on the 3rd of next month.  I'd want to hang on to him... but his house happens to be right in the way of my perfect bridge plan, and I've just been waiting for him to leave.
But I would rather he go to a good home than be cast into the void.  Any takers?

I'd like to, but I'm not sure if Diva will be out in time.

You wouldn't believe how much he sells for on GameFAQs... Not that I'd want to get rid of him. He's easily the most adorabru squirrel villager.

EDIT: Diva says she's moving "in 3 days". Not sure whether or not that includes today, or whether she'll be gone or simply packed up in boxes by then.

Sounds good to me, CrossEyed.  We'll have to find some way to coordinate on the day-of.

I'd like to, but I'm not sure if Diva will be out in time.

You're battling against Diva?  You have my condolences.  I can't tell if she'd be out in time, but it would be close.

And I wouldn't dream of profiting off of Marshal's departure.  I just want him to have a nice home...  Oh, if only I could just move his house a little...

Diva's in boxes today, meaning she'll be gone tomorrow, but if you're already set on giving Marshal to CE, that's fine.

Marshal's also in boxes today.  I guess leaving on the 3rd means gone on the 3rd.  Unless you can accept another villager while your 10th is in boxes, it looks like the timing won't work.

CrossEyed, I'll try to leave my gates open today.

Marshal still hasn't shown up in my town. Does it normally take this long, or did something maybe get messed up when I lost connection? I remember you save after I talked to him and before I lost power, but maybe it doesn't finalize until the train save?

I'm gonna hang out in your dream town for a while and talk to Marshal there and hope that helps (he remembers me, so it seems like it should have taken).

Well dang!

I suppose he could have been lost when you got Resetti'd out of my town?  I've only had one experience taking a moving villager, and she showed up within a day or two... but then my friend took a campsite villager in, and he took nearly a week to show up...  So maybe there's still hope?

Title: Re: Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Fifth saved after I talked to Marshal, and when I talked to Marshal in Fifth's dream town last night, he recognized me, so my file did register the fact that I've met Marshal (I'm 98% sure I hadn't seen him anywhere before). So the question is whether moving villager data gets registered immediately, or if you have to get back to the train for it to count (or if losing connection even after a save can somehow make you lose moving villager data). Has anyone out there figured out the mechanics of New Leaf's save system yet?
