Buy a thumbstick if you have to; hard drive space is cheap.

Several SNES roms can take up quite a bit of space, yes. N64 roms, they can suck up space fast. But an emulator alone, that takes up very little space.
You didn't say wot wot.

Alright; fine. Aside from a handful of otherwise-unplayable SNES gems, there's little reason for an emulator to be hogging data or memory or whatever on our decade-old computer.

I've got several emulators and games to go with them (including a few N64 ones), and they don't even take up half of my 1GB SD Card.

Also, suppose you want to play Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, or Yoshi's Island; SNES9x GX's button-mapping ability means I don't have to spend a ton of cash on a classic controller, never mind the games themselves.

Well, at any rate, having an emulator and 200+ roms sucking up ten megabytes or millebytes or metrobytes or whatever of space just collecting dust didn't seem worthwhile.

That's right, I forgot, you guys are on the metric system, so a megabyte is like twenty acres or something.

Back in my day we didn't have bytes! Or bits! We worked with krumbs and liked it that way! 640 krumbs were enough for anybody!

Let's see...

-I have Windows set to not display any graphical effects to improve system performance. This includes making the taskbar the plain one seen in Windows versions prior to XP.
-I have my Quick Launch bar set up so that I see three large icons and then have to click the arrow to see everything else.

Why the large icons?
That was a joke.

Perhaps so he can pretend he has Windows 7 and a wider screen!

EDIT: After checking back, I feel ashamed of myself for not having done my research beforehand. Of course an old Quick Launch bar wouldn't look like that...
