Clinkity-clank, clinkity-clank, clinkity-clank... "Aaaaaaaaaaahhh!" Don't you just love that sound?  The sound of little kids screaming their heads off on fast and freaky roller coasters.  Man, I do.  Roller coasters are like one of the greatest inventions of all time!  I just love them to death.

This topic is about roller coasters and people's favorites, but it's also about the super addictive theme-park building game known as Roller Coaster Tycoon that's so fun and such a blast that it isn't funny.
The first time I played it took me awhile to get the hang of it but when I did I couldn't stop.  I would play for 3 hours at a time and then I'd look at the clock and realise how much time I wasted.  Those were fun times.

What kind of roller coasters do you like?  Which ones do you think are the best?  Do you have any great/funny memories from going to theme parks?

And how about Roller Coaster Tycoon?  Do you play that?  If so, tell us about your interesting/funny experiences playing the game.  Show us pictures of your sweet rides.  Prove to us all that you really are the greatest tycoon of building ultimate theme parks!  Unless you're chicken that is.

I thought this would be a great topic to talk about.  Even though I don't know how to put up pictures, I do have an interesting story.  The first time I tried to beat RCT1, our computer had to be rebooted so I lost everyithing in the game.  My files, my parks, my rides... everything.  And I only had a few more parks left to finish.  I was so upset I wanted to break a window.  But then one day I decided to try it again.  I got close again and then the computer had to be rebooted again and so, yes, I lost it all a second time.  After that I didn't play the game for a very long time but then I just couldn't stop thinking of what the last level-- Mega Park-- would be like and couldn't bear the thought of never getting to it.  So I tried a final time and finally beat the game!  That was such an incredible feeling to reach the last level, but I felt so ribbed obb from playing the game for so long that I haven't played it or any sequels for a long time.  What about you?

I have RollerCoaster Tycoon (1) with all of the expansion packs. I enjoy shooting cars off the rollercoaster. Hehehe, explosions!

Man, I loved that game! I was really good at it-- I beat the whole first game, and tried to beat Loopy Landscapes.

Now I have RCT3, and I must say, I'm severely disappointed. It really lacks some of the fun the originals had. Some of the problem is from the simulation of people. They really don't do what you want them to do. Instead of taking rides and earning you income, they stand around and talk. And talk. And keep on talking. It's infuriating! I haven't played RCT3 for quite a while. The "sandbox" mode of that is like Arid Heights, becuase there are no financial limits. A really neat ride I made in that mode was called "Metroid Prime." It was a enormous theme ride.

EDIT: I forgot-- Mega Park was awesome. There wasn't any goal, but the place was enormous and great for designing fantastic roller coasters. The loan could be taken up to 50000, which gives plenty of money to be creative. If you want a screenshot of those things, I might be able to find my old Loopy Landscapes CD.

Boomstix: I guess that might be part of the reason why your name is boomstix!  Yeah, I used to do that a lot too when I got bored.  The first time I saw a coaster blow up it freaked me out, but then I started to get evil and purposefully shoot the cars of the tracks and watch them crash into hills, laughing like a madman.  I even tried stuff like making the coaster drop into water, slide across side walks, and build two that went right towards each other and tried to make them crash at the same time.  I was a maniac and I didn’t care!  Hahaha!

Oh, I have to tell this one story really quick and then I’ll try to let everyone else talk.  When I did finally unlock Mega Park, I built every single ride and food stall that was available in the game and decorated it really nice.  Then I got an cool idea and decided to build a huge roller coaster.  So I saved my file, and then saved it again with a different name (Explosion Park, I think).  I switched over to the identical park and quickly went to work shutting down the park and all the rides and then destroying them all so I could get tons of money.

With a ginormous amount of cash on hand I decided to build the biggest and scariest roller coaster that money could buy.  I chose the inverted coaster and made it go as high as it could, and then dropped it straight into the ground as low as it could go.  I added lots of twists, loops, vertical drops, and everything to make it the most disgusting coaster ever.  When I was done the ride was incredibly long and had like 12 drops to it and moved faster than anything you’d ever see in a theme park.  Then I opened the park again, opened the ride and charged lots of money, and watched the little suckers take the bait.  I won’t go into detail but let’s just say that when the ride was over, the park cleaners suddenly had a lot more work to do around that area!

Suffix: I hope you can find what you’re looking for.  I’d love to see everyone’s unique ride designs.

Hey, it can be if you want it to.  You can talk about RCT, other RC games, AND real roller coasters and stuff if you want.  Just go nuts, people and have fun! (I edited my first post a little late ^_^;)

I've played Roller Coaster Tycoon before and it's a fun game series. I haven't played the third one yet.

I made a ride called Space Race on RCT2. It reached 400 ft high and was 150 mph. It WAS fast. The throw up made many new colors, green, brown, pink, yellow.

I have RCT1 and expansions. Very, very fun, but I haven't played it nearly enough and perhaps never will. :(

My most successful roller coaster from RCT1 (with Loopy Landscapes) was built in Arid Heights. The name was "Transwarp Tours," which visited every theme in the park (8). Some quick stats:

Excitement: Very High (8.89, I think)
Intensity: Medium-high
Nausea: Medium-low

I remember the top speed being 98 mph, exactly. Needless to say, it was a big hit.

Hey, let's swtich "gears" a little here and talk about real roller coasters.  What are your favorites?  My favorite that I've rode is this big one called the Wild Thing at Valley Fair.  I forget what it was like exactly but I remember that it goes pretty high up, has a huge drops, some really sharp dips and turns, and a camera that takes your picture at the end in a dark tunnel.  I've only gone on it once unfortunately and never got another chance.

I really shouldn't do this... BUMP!  Sorry, but I want to hear more of what people have to say about this, and I just think that any topic about something as cool as roller coasters should never be neglected this long.  And it is my birthday today so I get ultimate bumping power! (not really)

I’ve got another little story I want to tell.  This isn’t that exciting and it isn’t really related to roller coasters but it kind of is.  Anyway, last Tuesday I went on a fun field trip with my school to an amusement park in our state (I don’t want to say which park because it ain’t that great).  There I hung out with three of my friends (since my other friends were working or at college, or way younger) and we had a great time going on most of the rides.  One of my absolute favorite parts of the day actually happened not on a ride but in an arcade.  As the four of us walked down the sidewalk to the next ride we soon spotted an arcade.  Something immediately caught my eye and I noticed some toys that were hanging in the window.  They weren’t just any toys... they were Sonic plush toys!  Immediately I screamed and ran inside to try and win one, and my friends came with me (thinking I was a loser XD).

When I got in the building I also spotted several Sonic dolls on the wall and some really big Sonic and Knuckles dolls from the ceiling.  But when I saw what game I had to play to win one I completely freaked out.  It was that horrible bowling game!  You have to roll a ball up a ramp made of two steel bars and try to get it to stay between the first ramp and the second without it rolling back to you.  But I had to try, and try I did.  I tried it again and again and again, but I lost each time.  My friends tried to help me win too but eventually they got tired and tried some other games.  I decided to do the same and try again later but something kept pulling me back there and once again I was at it, like some kind of crazed gambler.  I fed that machine quarters like I was fueling a truck and refused to give up.  I tried to roll the ball at different speeds and closer to the ramp.  And then... I finally did it.  At close to the $5 mark I pushed the ball again and it just barely went over the top of the first ramp.  Then it went to the second and quickly rolled back to the top of the first, and... went the other way again!  I knew I had did it when the alarm went off, I pounded my fist on the machine in triumph, the game dude tossed me a doll, and some kid gave me a high-five.  Yeah!  It was so great.  Even though I already had a Sonic doll, this one was much better and much cooler looking.  So, that’s my story.  Oh, and before we left the park I decided to buy a caricature of myself and it turned out pretty good.  Even though I don’t surf and I don’t have huge biceps, the face was pretty close.  Maybe sometime I can host it on someone’s site and then show it to you all here.

Okay, now I’ll get back on topic.  In my Breakaway magazine that I got not long ago, Relient K talks about their top three roller coasters and all of them are at Cedar Point.  They look really sweet.  Here’s what they are and what they said about them:

#3,  Magnum XL-200.  Highlights: 205 feet high.  72 mph.  Nearly a mile long.
#2, The Raptor.  Highlights: Six upside-down turns: one vertical loop, two inverted corkscrews, a zero-gravity roll and a cobra roll that turns riders upside-down twice - all while your feet dangle beneath you.
#1, Millenium Force.  Highlights: 310 feet high.  93 mph.  First hill drops at 80-degree angle.

Just hearing that makes me really want to go to that park.  I‘m getting a little tired of the rides at my park.  So what are your favorite coasters?

Hey, is it possible for me to be able to change the name of this thread?  At first it was just going to be about RCT, but then Vid reminded me about real RCs and I decided to add that too.  I just want to change it so people can know it's not just about a computer game.

Okay, I'll just ask this one more time.  Is there some way that someone could let me change the name of my topic now?  I really regret the name I have now.

If this post is edited, as it probably is, you may be wondering why.  Well let me tell you.  Each of YR’s posts are carefully revised and polished over and over to give you, the reader, the most enjoyable and entertaining material possible.  With his posts you have his own personal guarantee that they are of high quality, contain well-thought out wording, and most likely have a bit of humorous content to keep you interested.  That, my friend, is the Yoshisaurus difference.

Yeah, I have RCT3. The best thing to do is open an unfinished ride and make watch people fly off of the edge and blow up. But the thing is they still survive. Another great thing to do is to make a giant pool and a huge mountain beside it then drop people down the mountain like a slide!

And sometimes if your ride is a certain distance from the ground the car will flip to the underside of the tracks. This happened on my ride. It was a pretty glitchy park. The space style lights went wonky. the light was on the floor and the pole it sits on was 200ft in the sky.

There is no way to change the name of a thread. But the current name is fine. People who constantly talk about roller coasters are roller coaster tycoons...sort of.

I usually name the bathrooms on Rollercoaster Tycoon "Wario Ware Inc.", just to insult Wario. I name all of the Go-Kart Tracks "Super Mario Kart". I have a perfectly timed screenshot of a roller coaster crashing. I did this on Leafy Lake.

On the first game, if you build a steel RC, put a station and about five pieces of track, and then put a long, straight footpath from the end of the track, and put the roller coaster on powered launch, the train will continue going on the path as though it were a track.

FMC: I've also done that before and I found it pretty funny.  If you make the sidewalk long enough the cars will actually start to explode before the whole thing crashes.  Kind of like Centipede!  Ha ha.

KS: Really?  That is absolutely nuts!  How coincidental that is I mean.  I also like Relient K but they're not my favorite bands.  I don't even know what my favorite band is right now but someday I will.  Queen is pretty sweet.  And I want to buy the Newsboys Shine the Hits CD or get that for Christmas.  Shine!  Make 'em wonder what ya got!

Sorry I took so long to do this but...

Here it is!  I finally got that picture of the Sonic doll I won and the charaicature of me (my lips actually are kind of big not THAT big).  And you get to see a little bit of my room too.  First time!  I wish that I had took a better picture though.

I would love to put up pictures of my roller coasters but like Deezer I'm so busy with college that I don't have much time.  And if I did try to play just a little RCT... I would get hooked bad.

I have all three Roller Coaster Tycoons, and I have this sort of wierd tradition: with every game, I make this roller coaster called "Atomic Revenge of the PhobiaCoaster", and it kills everyone who rides it. Really. It is HORRIFIC: it takes up almost half the park, inludes twenty-two loops, goes at about 300mph (usually) and, at one point, goes UNDERWATER. I was only able to get it to do that in the first game, however, and at least two people get caught each time and eventually drown. If a real park had designed a coaster like that, it would instantly be shut down.
