Title: Deezer (Games)
Post by: Peblo on February 27, 2002, 07:35:48 PM
Hello! I have noticed that your game section in downloads is short, and since I make games (Yoshi/Mario), could you add my games to your game section? Everthing in it is Mario Related, and my games have just been looked over for months.

I am also working on a Mario game. It's a Mario Bros. clone based on the SMB3 Battle game, and it's being written in BASIC. It's going slow though, as school cuts deeply into my free time.

I have a SMB1 hack, will you take that?  It is in IPS format which is legal for distribution because it doesn't include the original ROM.

Anyone who wants the latest test program of my game should email me. You can't kill the two Spinys yet, and they usually kill you in one hit, but you can pick up the other player and POW Block and throw them. I am still in need of a good battle music that can loop and doesn't fade at the end.

Golden Yoshi, my hack is at Challenge Games (www.cg-games.net) If that address doesn't work, try without the www. I forgot if it is in there or not.  It is called SMB-NEXT by The Millionaire.  My next hack will be SMB-NEXT2 by comm128 (I changed my username at the site).  It is a levels-only hack of SMB1 and requires a SMB1 ROM, NES emulator, and SNEStool or a similar tool.  I do NOT distribute ROM's.  To find a ROM, use a search engine and search for "suber mario bros rom".

Oh yeah, I also have a hack of Zelda where you play as Luigi in a new overworld with some familiar enemies. It's as close to being done as it ever will be, all I need to do is fix the title screen(I accidentally messed it up when I was in a hex editor).

I like Yoshi RPG!

But, when you beat the pond, you are sent to a new island, then back to the pond island, and it repeats forever! You got any passwords for that game?

Another bug: When you level up to 5, you FP goes from 50 to 30, you have to battle some one else to get 50 and got to a recharge station. What gives?

How to beat a Goomba:

Egg throw twice, and do a lick.
Don't forget to use spacebar to shield youself. What I don't get is that Goombas do more damage than you do.

Here's how to beat the pond:

From the starting point, go to areas up. You'll see a screen of Goombas and a Recovery station. Battle a Goomba, goto the Recharge station, repeat until level 5. or 4. you should have 100 HP and 50 FP. If not go battle 1 more Goomba. and recharge.
Now battle the pond.
Use egg throws all the time! They do 6 damage. Don forget to try and guard against his spikes! You should be done in 6 turns and walk away at level 104 or 105 with 4-30 HP.
Now goto the present. goto the dock, Grab all the berries on this island, battle Silver Goomba, and go west. You're back at Island #1!
Ask Peblo.

This is sad. Nobody has downloaded my Mario Bros. clone since I put it up for download 3 weeks ago. I even told about in posts that weren't related to Mario computer games. Oh well, I'm starting to lose interest in it myself anyway, so maybe it's not really that interesting. I WAS gonna put the HAMMER SUIT in it, BY THE WAY! Time to start a new project.....SMB2 Battle!

Don't think my games are nothing but screwed up just because I'm 13. I'm good enough at math to create and rotate a full 3D object with only 2D BASIC commands like LINE. Seriously. I did it on my graphing calculator.

Mario:Hey, where''s Luigi?
Toad:I think he''s on that new adult site.
Mario:Daisy''s gonna be furious!
Luigi:Oooh, yeah!!
Mario:Luigi, stop being a dirty b*stard and get your a*s over here!
Luigi:Hey, that picture stopped downloading. D*mn server!
Mario:I did that! If you don''t stop looking up naked b*tches online, I''ll....
Peach:Don''t worry kids. When Mario and Luigi stop swearing, we''ll continue the adventure.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but:

The Mario Bros. Games doesn't work on my PC! It says some junk about 3D hardware!
I have a 366Mhz Pc, 4 MB of 3D power, the lastest(?) drivers, 256 MB RAM, and a 20GB harddrive! What's up with it?!

Say, Peblo, Is that Island Warp thing a bug? or do you have to defeat the Pond a lot to win? It's weird. Great Music too! Where'd you get it? I'd like it!

The program I'm using to make these games uses Directx 7, so you need that, and it has 3D commands in it. I didn't use any of them, but it may still need a 3D acceleration card. D*mn program!

At least now I know there are a few people who both like my game and can actually run it from my topic "MB clone ready for download".

I don't think I'll make it to where to can bump into opponents because on 4 player mode, that could be disaterous.

I had a game speed problem for a while until I realized I needed to control the refresh rate instead of letting it go as fast as it cloud. D'oh!

You need Direct 7.0 or higher(available at www.microsoft.com), but some people still have problems. I REALLY wish those people who made my programming utility would have TOLD me that only about 1 out of every 4 people can even play the SIMPLEST 2D games made with it, d*mn it!

Mario:Hey I''ve-a been working here for-a 20 years a-now, and I''m still a-getting paid 8 a-bucks an hour. What the f***''s up with that!?
Miyamoto:You get free board anyway. You don''t see Luigi or Wario complaining, now do you?
Mario:They a-just don''t care. Luigi justs spends a-it all on a-doin'' hookers, but a-now Wario might a-want more since he rediscovered-a the wonderful world of-a marijuana yesterday!
Miyamoto:Not again! He only managed to quit a year ago!

Ahhh, I'm making it into the Fangame Scene!
I'm Making Yoshi's Winter!!! It's like a sequel to Yoshi's Island.
You see, Baby Bowser stole Baby Luigi again and Yoshi and Baby Mario must find him. Yada-yada... But this is where it gets interesting: You must find the 6 trapped Star Spirits to give you a power that over comes Baby Bowser's Final Match (ala Paper Mario).

The Bosses will be like an RPG Battle
Bosses are... (All giant Kamek-inized versions of course)
World 1- The Blizzard: Shy Squad
World 2- Avalanche!: Dr. Freezegood
World 3- Cloud World: Lakitu
World 4- Ice Valley: Bumpty
World 5-Mt. Koopa: Hookbill Koopa
World 6- Iceberg: Kamek
World 7- Baby Bowser's Castle: Baby Bowser (2 parts, kinda like Yoshi's Island)

I will have world 1 and MAYBE 2 done in about a month or less for BETA Testing. You just might get a spot in the final version's credits...

Peblo, can i get a copy of your RPG Battle engine in Yoshi out of time? Just put it in .CCA or.GAM and i can use it in The Games Factory. I'll be sure to put you in the credits

I have a good Mario movement engine if anyone wants it. I use the blocks that Mario can be blocked by as sprites, though. The only problem is if he falls too far, the downward velocity will get so great that it will pass the height of blocks and he could fall through them. I didn't fix it because it's not needed in my game. It's written in BASIC, but it wouldn't be that hard to translate to C. It also has accounts for Mario's power(he's taller as Super Mario). The sprite positioning is based upon the upper-left hand corner of the sprite, and it was done with 640x480 resolution.
