They did? Well, what should you expect from a silly stupid world. I could see banning the viewing of the elephant man but banning porn is just ridiculous.

I forget, is simulated child porn (the kind where no actual children were involved) illegal in America or not? If it is, that's stupid. And tantamount to thoughtcrime. As is that Australian thing. And that Law and Order episode with the woman who had some congenital defect that made her look 12 even though she was in her 20s where the whole point of the episode was that anyone who would want to sleep with that woman is evil and should be locked up. What all of it says is "There are people who are just born evil, and even when they do perfectly legal things, it's for evil reasons and we should lock them up because of the thoughts they have that they can never stop." Whether that's true or not from a personal moral perspective, it's certainly not the government's job to put people in jail because they may or may not have weird icky thoughts.

Arguably a side effect of over-reliance on the "it's not a choice, you're born that way" defense against religious claims that homosexuality is immoral: The ultimate conclusion then is that some people are born destined to sleep with people of their own gender, some people are born destined to sleep with people of the opposite gender, and some people are born destined to sleep with kids, and nothing any of us do can change our natures. Yes, genetics and mental states and other stuff plays a big factor, and I would never claim that sexuality is a pure unaffected choice in the sense that you just wake up one day and say "You know what, I really wanna **** off God and my parents and society and everyone; I'm going to start sleeping with dudes/chicks/little kids/whatever"; however, if we completely remove agency and personal responsibility from the equation and just resign ourselves to genetic determinism, we could be headed for Minority Report territory, not to mention living much less fulfilling lives.

I'm not saying ignore the way you were born and raised and act like you're completely impartial on every decision you make and have equal chances of making any possible choice at any junction. In fact, I don't think free will can meaningfully exist without some determinism -- if I can't point to a reason I chose one thing over another, did I really make the choice, or was it just completely arbitrary? But make your choices and then stand by them. Don't write them off as the inevitable result of factors out of your control. Take charge of your life, make choices you can be proud of, and then be proud of them. And remember that you can always change something.

...Okay, is it just me, or was that a little too soaringly inspirational and melodramatic for a post triggered by a mention of Australian porn on a Mario fan forum? I'm gonna go back to making those award certificates now. Don't mind me.

Right, so, I'm going to post something happy here instead of responding to that:

I just tried out the stage select (read: stage practice) mode in Space Invaders Extreme 2. Playing through stage one, I earned 9,901,930 points. My previous best was somewhere in the seven million-to-eight million range. With some more practice of this sort across my ideal stage route I don't see any reason why I'd be unable to top Icarus's world record score. Without buying a Taito DS Paddle Controller, even.

Also, Crimzon Clover demo is out.

As you know already I like to keep things simple "keep it simple, stupid" is what I live by... anyway so I'll respond simply to what I agree with you on and disagree with you on.

I agree; You are not evil for sleeping with a 12 year old, for sleeping with a hot teacher, etc, etc. The government should not be the one to enforce morals nor even lock you up for your thoughts, even if they are icky. Homosexuality is not immoral whether it be by choice or genetics. Free will is what makes us arbitrary so live your life. Maybe I oversimplified.

AAAANYWAY...

So I bought Psychonauts on Steam for $2.00. This being my first time playing that game, I must say that I am quite impressed.

Um... that's all.

I don't see why we can't have links or images in this.
Avatars would be nice too.

You are not evil for sleeping with a hot teacher.

Yeah, if the teacher is female. If its a male teacher, then prepare for a barrage of media coverage, riots and lots of forced therapy.
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

More HOPEFULness here.

My friends and I make it a routine to hang out at one of our houses every Friday after school, and this evening's hang-out was One of the coolest. Typically we just pick a random anime and watch it (So far I've seen the whole first seasons of Haruhi Suzumiya and Gurren Lagann, the first four episodes of Clannad and Fullmetal Alchemist, and a couple episodes of Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan, one of the most utterly disturbing and yet entertaining things I've ever seen) but we didn't do that today, although we had planned to watch more Clannad. What we ended up doing was playing Shadow Complex for about two hours (my first time playing that game, and I've decided that I am definitely buying it whenever the opportunity arises) and then downloading a bunch of Stack Smash skins and playing random Brawl matches for the rest of the night, in addition to eating pizza.

Funny thing about these Friday get-togethers is that they started as a D&D campaign about nine months ago, but we kind of abandoned it after a month or so. We still play (very) occasionally, but even then it's only ever for about a half-hour at a time. I'm just wondering if we'll ever finish the campaign before we all graduate.

Well, I picked this stick up at my local GameStop (same one I bought my SFIV stick from), but they sell them at Capcom's online store as well.

It's made by Madcatz, but don't let that deter you; someone at SRK dismantled the stick and found it's just slightly lower quality than a Sanwa, and I personally think it's a really good stick.
