Does "The Toad" even exist anymore? I think once they started referring to all the mushroom people as Toads was when "Toad" lost his identity. Sure, there's a Toad in the recent Mario Kart games and stuff, but there's also a Koopa Troopa. Who's to say that Toad isn't as equally generic?

I don't like either of those. "The True History of Mario" is just trying to be funny, and "Inconstancy in the Mario World" is just trying to say that the games are a metaphor for art, or something.

Hmm, there is still something in Mega Man 9 that no one has yet discovered.

From reading that page and some of s-kill's comments on the other page that's linked to, my guess is that it probably has something to do with logging a certain amount of hours on the game.

When I first heard about this game (yesterday) I knew I had to buy it. It's really cool. It came out last September but it was made to look like an NES game. And it's just as hard as an NES game, too. I played for an hour and a half and couldn't clear any of the stages.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that. I don't know, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to take complex semi-realistic backgrounds and replace them with 8-bit-style ones.

Ah, what the heck. Everyone else is doing it and this is one variety which I particularly enjoy.

I wish that was nostalgia. The first time that happened to me was this January, and now it happens ALL THE TIME!! ARHGHRHGHRGH

Also I just noticed in this thread that the clouds and the bushes were the same thing.

I don't know, it doesn't really strike me as that impressive. I mean, I can't do it, but that's because I know nothing about technology or hacking games. But it seems pretty easy to change the wallpaper and stuff. The 8-bit coin was kind of cool, and I liked that one of the signs said "LOL SIGN", but that's about it.

Mario's look in Melee is my favorite. Denim. I was so pumped when I saw the first promotional photos for Melee. I thought to myself, "Wow, videogame graphics are getting so realistic. Eight years later, I've still never seen any Mario design that hasn't let me down, besides maybe the one in Brawl. The graphical updates in this decade have let me down so much.
