Ever notice that sewer water is oddly clean in the Mario games? I mean, there's even freaking FISH swimming around in the sewer in Mario RPG. The Mushroom Kingdom must use outhouses or something instead, maybe they didn't like all the newfangled plumbing.

Well, the movie's OK if you don't mind that it's completely different than the games. If you're expecting to see a movie-length clip of video game, then yeah, you'll think the movie sucks. They were probably trying to make a movie that non-gamers could still understand. I don't think it was that bad. Well, it was bad, but an amusing and cheesy sort of bad, like those old Godzilla movies.

If hardcore gamers ran the Mario empire, I think the characters would get more and better character development. I just realised the other day that Mario, despite being Nintendo's mascot and starring in tons of games, has very little established character. He rarely speaks and doesn't do much other than be a generic hero. Most of the time you could swap him with Link and there'd be no difference at all. Well, 'cept that Link has a big sword and stuff, but you get my point.

I say his finest moment was when he defeated Mario at the beginning of Paper Mario and threw the little dude out the window to his supposed doom. I mean, Bowser made it look so EASY.
