They probably gave Luigi at least a cameo appearance. People sure did whine a lot over his absence from M64.

Kudos for the helpful review, I'm extremely tempted to buy the game now, but I think I should rent it first and see if I like it. I'm sure I will, but still...It's not in my nature to buy games, I'm a rental gal at heart. I beat Paper Mario in more or less one sitting, and I rented Mario RPG about 20 times when I was 12 before I beat it.

However, I'm concerned about Mario and Luigi's voices, they seem to be getting squeakier and squeakier. I was playing SSBM with some non-gamer girlfriends the other day and they thought Mario sounded like a pansy. Is Nintendo trying to get their main men beaten up and crammed into a locker or something?

One of my favourite parts of SSBM is how great Bowser looks. Previous games tended to make him all fat and stupid-looking, but in SSBM he's a fearsome muscular beast. I mean, I was so amazed when I first played the game that I spent about an hour in Training, just making Bowser jump around and crouch and roar cuz he's so cool-looking. No, I'm not a Bowser fan, why do you ask? :D But SSBM pays an impressive amount of attention to detail, the textures alone are great. And the music, gotta love the music. And Jigglypuff is NOT a Kirby ripoff...! Just because they're both fluffy and pink and inflatable doesn't mean anything.

I just voted, and Mario's at 50.04%. And I'm tickled pink that Samus beat Sonic! By about 40 votes, no less! Woohoo!

Goodness, you folks have irresponsible drinking habits! *opens up another can of Coke* I pity your poor, scarred virtual livers! Hmm, I'm not familiar with SML2, is that the one with Wario in it?

One time I was fighting Giga Bowser and he grabbed a Parasol. It was soooo cute, he did the same slow downward drift as all the other characters despite the Parasol being way too small for him.

Kirby rocks! My favourite moment is during the Beginner Show in Kirby Super Star, when the game refers to Kirby as "a jolly little fellow", and Kirby has this sour look on his face like he wants to consume whoever said that. :D

Yeah, Nintendo does like to swap colours like that. They might have even had trouble with parents who thought that he was devil-like, you know, the kind of parents who insist that Pokémon teaches kids to worship the dark arts.

Well, Frostbite may be a little...blunt at times, but I don't think he should be kicked out or anything. It's not like he's some kind of rabid flamer.

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Allusions in Zelda Games...
« on: July 30, 2002, 01:12:40 AM »
I think the Mario references in Zelda games are just kind of an inside joke. Like how Mario was the referee in that one boxing game.

In Ocarina of Time, Talon and Ingo look remarkably like Mario and Luigi. Also, Malon and Talon wear Bowser-head pendants. I think Romani and Cremia from Majora's Mask wear the Bowser pendants too.

Mario Chat / Re: Fans want Mario RPG for GBA
« on: July 30, 2002, 01:07:01 AM »
Obviously one of the main reasons for porting a game is for older players to replay their favourites. But another good reason is to give younger players a chance to play games they'd otherwise miss out on. And then there's the beefing up that comes with getting ported. Mario RPG would probably get voice clips, and they could always add or expand on bonus areas for more replay value, and maybe toughen up bosses or something. I'd consider buying a GBA if there were an SMRPG port, just out of curiosity over the voices. I wanna know what Mallow and Geno sound like!

Eating weird things? Don't get me started on eating weird things! I entered my school's Mystery Eating Contest and beat the pants off 4 guys! To win, I had to eat sardines in mustard sauce, mincemeat, headcheese, cat food, dog food and pig tail, and the final round was all the previously mentioned things combined in a no-hands speed-eating contest! Hehe, raw potato, that's cute...:p

Yeah, Paper Mario's kewl, I'm just very much unhappy with how dumb and one-dimensional Bowser's character was in that game. The partners were mostly interesting though, I favour Bow.

Yeah, that'd rock for Bowser to star in a game! If nothing else, maybe something like Sonic Adventure 2: Battle where you can play the good or the bad character.

Mario Chat / Re: NINTENDO. making another toad playable RPG??
« on: July 29, 2002, 05:48:55 AM »
I can't see Toad getting a leading role in a game anytime soon. Let's face it, he's pretty useless. Unless he followed through on his SMRPG comment and got a bazooka, that'd kick. :D Peachie will probably get another game or two, she's pretty kewl when she's not busy being a Damsel In Distress.
