This ad on Photobucket reminded me of a Captain Falcon texture hack that was recently done for a project on the Project M boards:

I tend to organize a lot of tasks by color mentally without really recognizing it.  Always feels really stupid when all I can remember is something to the effect of "dangit, I needed to do something... yellow, I think?"  I used to associate numbers with colors as well, actually, pretty similarly to Markio.

Mario Chat / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Zero-DEF Glitch
« on: December 03, 2012, 07:15:16 PM »

Found out about this while changing things around for v1.3 of my Superstar Saga hack.  Basically, if you land any action commands at all in Thunder Bros., the chance of giving DEF- (or POW-) Down is the same, dependent on the enemy.  However, the multiplier by the status is actually LOWER if you land fewer commands; in particular, if you hit only the first "B" of the attack, the attack will make the enemy's DEF go to 0.

Thought this was worth posting here.  I was ticked to find this out; what a waste of 10,000 points.

I guess he's just got incredibly good fine-tuning skills with that ridiculous power, then.  I suppose you could also hand-wave the initial observation with the "SMB3's a play" theory, but then again, Mario picks up similar ice blocks and throws them at comparable speed in NSMBW.

There's no Mario (American) football game because...
Mario himself has the power to kick a football into outer space.

Think about it; from a standstill, in SMB3, Mario could kick a presumably solid block of ice hard enough to get it moving at 3 pixels per frame.  Assuming Mario's about 5'8" and 28 pixels tall (roughly), that makes a 16-pixel block about 1 meter on a side.  Since ice has a density of roughly 917 kg/m3, that means the ice block would weigh about 917 kg, and converting units makes 3px/frame = about 11.25 m/s.  If Mario were to kick a football, which weighs about 430 grams tops, with the same force, it would end up going about 24,000 m/s (~Mach 70), or twice Earth's escape velocity.  Then again, gravity in Mario's world can be calculated to be about 10 times Earth's, but either way, that's a heck of a powerful kick.

Don't know if anyone's seen this yet:

A lot of interesting new features here; seems like they've taken a cue from the latest Kirby games in the challenge modes.

Another massive project similar to Super Mario 64: an Eight-Star Suite; this is a ten-minute video of Super Mario Bros. 3 gameplay with both music and SFX done almost entirely with piano!

Pac-Man himself in B is my favorite... but I prefer the ghosts in C.
^ This.
I hate Pac-Man's big blue irises in A, especially, but I guess his appearance in C's not bad either.  D would be interesting, as well.

Yes, on exactly one other planet.

How many binary sequences are there with no consecutive pairs of 1's for arbitrary length n?

Well, we know who didn't read the game manual (or watch the cartoons).
Granted, this is coming from someone who only started being familiar with the series since ~2002
Which I guess just means Nintendo's done a better job of keeping the "canon" straight the last decade or so.

Granted, this is coming from someone who only started being familiar with the series since ~2002, but those revelations weren't all that shocking to me.  The Koopalings always have seemed like the standard-intentionally-vague relations of Bowser.  The Dr. Mario bit was pretty funny, though.
