Mario doesn't invite Bowser over to karting/sporting events--the Koopa King just invites himself over.
Well, that's how it's shown in the beginning of Mario Tennis.

Luigi has to break out of the shadows to save Mario's life.  How is that an "incredibly stupid idea?"  Do you just hate Luigi's Mansion?  And I don't see why some people condemn parodies in Mario cartoons while worshipping The Simpsons.  I also don't see what's so wrong about using parodies as vehicles to tell stories when the only two Super Mario Bros. games at the time were so scarce on story.

I'm sorry, we're derailing this conversation, huh?  Let's just agree to disagree.  As for the calendar, I found a reference in Partners in Time where E. Gadd says something about "toast on Sunday morning."  Confirmation of multiple calendars, or just an idiom?

I don't defend them to the core.  The shows have some flaws and bad episodes, just like every other series.  But I don't see how the classical "prison escape" trope or Luigi's crowning moment of awesome are "incredibly stupid ideas."  To each his or her own, I guess.

Anyways, I may be confabulating, but wasn't there a moment in Sticker Star when a character mentions a day in our calendar?  Or was that one of the Mario & Luigi RPGs?  If so, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mushroom Kingdom had multiple calendar systems.

At least you admit the cartoons are stupid.
What's so stupid about this?  Or this?
Seriously, what's so stupid about storytelling?

Video Game Chat / Question About Data Transfer from Wii to Wii U
« on: November 18, 2012, 07:03:28 PM »
Would someone who did the data transfer from Wii to Wii U please answer this question?  Can the following games have their data moved from the Wii to the Wii U, or do they just stay in the old Wii?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Mario Kart Wii
Animal Crossing: City Folk

Thanks!

From CrossEye7's link:

Kamek is an unique character in the west, for sure, but in his home country, he’s known as Kamekku, but so are all the generic, non-talking, quickly stomped Magikoopas. In short, the Japanese make no distinction.
That's exactly why I started this thread.  I know that in the English translation of Super Mario RPG there is a Toad named Toad, since the game's text boxes reveal names.  So if I'm reading this correctly, the Japanese Super Mario RPG does indeed make a distinction, with a Kinopio named Kinopio.

Mario Chat / A Question about Toad
« on: November 13, 2012, 02:12:14 PM »
I was just reviewing the from Japanese to English comparison of Super Mario RPG and wanted to ask for clarification.  In the English translation, Toads were referred to as Mushroom People/Mushroom Retainers with one specific individual named Toad.  In Japan, all the Mushroom People/Mushroom Retainers were always known as Kinopios (the Japanese name for Toad), right?  It wasn't until Paper Mario when the English translation more closely followed the Japanese naming convention.

So if I'm reading this correctly, Super Mario RPG has one Kinopio specifically named Kinopio, right?  Because Raz ("Kino") and Rani ("Nanshi") are other Kinopios that have their own names.

What are the selected engine size/items for those communities?  And may we also share our own personalized communities on this forum?

Game Help / Super Mario Land 2 All Levels
« on: November 04, 2011, 12:21:04 PM »
I'm playing through Super Mario Land 2 for the first time through the Virtual Console.  I've managed to clear 31 levels according to the file select screen, but I heard that there are 32 levels.  Am I missing a level, or am I at the maximum?  Could the last level (Wario Castle) be the 32nd level, but the game doesn't save to count it?

After so many years of neglecting his Doomship Airships, Bowser finally realizes how awesome they are and now uses them constantly!

Actually, those aren't Tanoombas, just Goombas with tails.  Another example of Nintendo blatantly going out of their way to not acknowledge the Mario RPGs.

Wart no longer exists.
After being kicked out of Subcon, he moved to Koholint Island and, well...you know...

Bowser's wife is either named Lena or Clawdia.
Do we have anything else to go with?

Cheatsy, Big Mouth, Kootie Pie, Hop, Bully, Hip, and Kooky all exist.
But they're just nicknames.

In the fortress behind every flagpole, there's a lasagna in the oven.
This would explain why Mario dies in old side-scrollers if he runs out of time--he dies out of disappointment of an overcooked lasagna.

Game Help / DS Wi-Fi Transfer
« on: August 20, 2011, 09:06:11 AM »
I have a question regarding transferring your DS Wi-Fi account to a 3DS.  If you transfer, do all your records and friend codes move to the new system intact, or are they lost or altered?  For example, would my Mario Kart DS friend code and win/loss record be reset if I sent them to a 3DS, or is the information simply moved?  I'm guessing the data is moved, but I wanted to check with someone to be sure before I decide if I wanted to try it.

So, Mario Kart 7.  Who'd-a thunk?
