Title: NES Mario game audio played by real instruments in (almost) realtime
Post by: MEGAߥTE on August 20, 2013, 10:19:00 PM
What if Mario had a robotic band to accompany his travels? Musician David Thompson hooked up an NES to a Raspberry Pi computer, Yamaha Disklavier player piano, and a set of drums driven by solenoids. The Raspberry Pi reads in the sounds generated by the NES, converts them into MIDI piano notes and percussion signals, and triggers the robotic instruments to play along with the game - sound effects and all. Watch the impressive result at the link below!
