Following a storyline or theme of Super Mario Brothers 2 for NES. It would be cool to see some of the boses like Wart and Mouser return. Also neat to see the potions and vases, etc.
-
That would be nice, actually.
-
wow i just thought of somthing that nintendo could do. You know how smb 2 was all part of Mario's dream? Well what if they make it so that was a prediction Mario was seeing and the Mushroom Kingdom is attacked by Wart and stuff.
But since most of this was a part of Mario's dream i dont think anyone from the game would be back.
But that leaves somthing wrong. Shyguys and Birdo are in the Mario games when they were also just part of Mario's dream. Weird huh?
-
Because you can never integrate reality with dreams *roll-eyes*
-
It would be cool if we could (basically) stop complaining about how today's Mario games are terrible compared to the Mario games of the 80s and early 90s.
-
No one is saying that you Negative Nancy.
It's totally true that Mouser and Wart get the shaft.
-

-
And don't forget the pokeys and bob-ombs
and sparkys.

Not "saying", no, but I get the vibe that it's being implied, which is why I put basically in parentheses, and considering his posts in the past that always DID say that and his yearning for Mario games to be like yesteryear's, it's obvious why I think that way.
-
Yeah that wasn't implied in any way in this thread. At all.
-
but I get the vibe that it's being implied
!=
but it's being implied
Yeah, never said it was, I just thought it was.
-
And I told you it wasn't. Where's the problem here?
-
Mario 2 USA sucks noodles.
-
Well, noodles are good, and so is SMB2USA.
-
Super Mario Galaxy rocks (so much for modern mario games stink).
However, I would love to see a new storyline besides Bowser and many of the SMB2 characters deserve a return.
And PLEASE for the love of God put the koopalings back in the next major Mario Game. I don't care if Bower Jr. is with them or not but they deserve a return and it doesn't make much sense in the storyline unless Mario killed them all in SMW.
-
There is no storyline.
-
No, but there should be.
-
Where's your proof?
-
Because things that have actual storylines are usually more interesting.
-
I dunno, I think Mario has done fine so far not trying to be "interesting" and just being fun to play.
-
Well, the Mario RPGs had more of a storyline and ended up being more fun (in my opinion). So I think extending that into a big continuous story might be even better. Maybe its just me, but story-lacking games just seem less fun.
-
I just get annoyed by Nintendo making all these villians: 7 koopalings, Wart, Mouser, Tryclyde, Taratanga, Wario, DK, DK Jr., and Waluigi but then we never see them again after their platform series.
I would love to see them come back as allies of Bowser or as totally new enemies in their own right.
-
It's Tatanga. There is no such thing as "Taratanga".
Old enemies cannot come back as "totally new enemies".
-
Why is Wario up there? He had his own, and very good, platforming franchises that went on to be absorbed back into the main Mario series.
Yes, I know, I'm probably the only Wario fan that absolutely despises the existence of Waluigi.
-
I was hoping for Nintendo to make a Wario Land 5 for the Wii. It would have the same level look like in Wario World but with his powers to transform into diffrent things. I mean what the heck happend to that they all of asuden just vanish that idea and start doing other things to make it dumb.
Like Wario Master of Disguise I thogutht they were bringing back the tranfroming thing but NO! We got this game that made Wario look like he cant do a good game for crap. I liked WMOD but it just dident make it feel like a REAL Wario game. (I love the Wario Ware games though. Thier awsome)

I like that idea. I enjoyed Wario World quite a bit. It was just way too short, and a little too easy.
-
It would be great to see a Wario platformer rendered in 3D
-
Wario World?
-
I mean a Platformer, like what they did with NSMB.
-
Wario needs to be in a game with Mario again as a villian or anti-hero.
-
I think they should make a game where Mario and Wario fight side-by-side.

I could be sarcastic and see Super Smash Brothers Brawl like people have done with me about multiplayer games but I know what you mean.
I think a storyline different from the usually Bowser stealing Peach would be great. Even though that storyline is classic and is Mario. I think Wario could team up as an anti-hero like Knuckles does with Sonic later in Sonic and Knuckles for Genesis or the way Shadow does in Sonic Adventure 2.
However, Wario still needs to be a greedy selfish egotistical ******* like he always is. That makes Wario.
-
how bout' a new mario game where Mario turns evil and Luigi must try to save him
-
I'd love to see a game where you can play as mario or wario, each defeating bowser for a different goal. Just sayin'.
-
Darn kids with your necrobumping! *waves cane*
-
Wario was on Mario's side in Super Mario 64 DS and Hudson seems to love portraying him amongst the good guys in their Mario Party series (seriously, I think the only time they ever actually acted in-character was Mario Party 3).
I think Mario vs. Donkey Kong 3: Wario vs. Donkey Kong would be quite pwnsome.
-

How about a new Mario game where you have to go around random forums and stop members from bumping old threads?
-
Would you have preferred them to make another thread of the exact same subject?
-
Yeah, I really would like to know which of those two is preferable.
-
The self-appointed forum police will yell at you for both, so basically don't post. And especially don't double post.
-
They really hate that.
-
/me shrugs
I ruined his joke, then brought it back. I hate to be inconsistent, you see, especially in the sub-forum I'm most responsible for. That being said, you can push any angst related to the subject to the Newly Opened "Why?" thread.

Wow, quite the change in topic. Nintendo should make a new Wario Land game for the DS in the vain of Wario Land 1, 2, or 3. Wario Land 4 was good but it was way too short.
And yes a new SMB2-style game would be awesome! "New Super Mario Bros. 2" perhaps?
I also don't get how enemies from SMB2 are in newer Mario games. SMB2 was originally a non-Mario game called Doki Doki Panic (as most of us are aware), so for those enemies and items to reappear in newer Mario games (SM64, Yoshi's Island, Mario Galaxy, etc.) is kind of strange.
-
? They started putting Bob-ombs in other games starting with SMB3. They put Ninjis and Bob-ombs (and Pidgits) in SMW. Putting Shy Guys into Yoshi's Island is only natural. After that, you have Birdo and numerous Shy Guys in SMRPG, and it just kept going. Did you not play any games?
-
It's kinda hard to believe that all those enemies became Mario characters after being in a game that didn't have anyhting to do with Mario in the first place. (Doki Doki Panic, for those who don't know what game I'm talking about.)
-
Well, believe it.
They put Ninjis and Bob-ombs (and Pidgits) in SMW.
You forgot Pokey! </GWBush>

Now, if they'd bring Wart back for something, that'd be awesome.
-
They should have put Wart in as a background object on the SMB2 stage in Melee. Actually, they could have put him in Brawl. Then you could have a four way battle: Bowser vs Wart vs Wario vs Donkey Kong. That's a lot of villain mass right there.
-
I know... where's Wart these days? Was he even a trophy in Melee? I can't remember...
-
Once again megamush used his mighty powers to bump another thread! But anyways I heard something about copy right issues so Nintendo cant use Wart in their games but could use the other characters. But it probably not true since they used him in Super Mario Advance.

I have the power of bumping!

That seems very unlikely. If they created the character, they can do whatever they want with it.
-
Yeah, it would be pretty hard to be unable to use a character due to owning the copyright on it.
-
I'd like to see enemies of SMB2(US) return.
Esp. Mouser, he was rad.
-

Most of them have returned at least once.
-
I mean, the ones that have not returned.
And the ones that hardly returned, like maybe once or twice, it'd be nice to see them again. Such as Birdo in a non-spinoff.
Naturally, Shy Guys have returned multiple times, as have others.
-

I don't think so...I know for a fact that Birdo was. Then once you get that trophy, Mushroom Kingdom II stage is unlocked.
-
Nope, Wart isn't a trophy. He needs to return, he was a cool boss.
-
Wart returned briefly in Link's Awakening.
Wart seems to only exist in dreams.

Oh, yeah, that one "Mamu" dude, or whatever... but, I mean, a new Mario game appearance, of course.

Superstar Saga is a spinoff?
-
No, it's not.
-
Superstar Saga is a spinoff?
I mean, in a platformer.
-
Kojinka forgot SMRPG.
-
Well, in some senses, the RPG's are a spinoff. Or rather, I'd put them into their own category.
-
Kojinka forgot SMRPG.
I'm not surprised. I never got very far on the ROM I have. I'm still waiting for Square to get their act together and re-release the game on either VC or DS.
-
I'm waiting for you to get your act together and buy the game on SNES.
-
I hope to one day find a copy of SMRPG, that isn't outrageously expensive.
-

Maybe he doesn't have the an SNES.

What constitutes a spin-off, anway? A game in a series that isn't the same genre as the first one? Wouldn't that make Super Mario Bros. a spin-off of Mario Bros.? Just thinking aloud, here.
-
Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. are both 2D platformers.
-
And isn't Hotel Mario a 2D platformer? But this site calls it a puzzle. I don't understand.
-
Maybe he doesn't have the an SNES.
You're half right. I don't have a SNES.
-
Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. are both 2D platformers.
...What genre is Mario Bros., anyway? Because it definitely doesn't seem like a 2D platformer. Maybe a fixed-camera low-level co-op fighter, if such a thing exists...
-
Sorry. "Maybe SHE doesn't have an SNES."

It's the generally same scheme, though.
If you weren't in the same region the whole time, Mario Bros. would be a platformer.
-
But it has platforms, so it is a platformer. It's just not a sidescroller, because the sides don't scroll.

Can't argue with that logic. :3
-
Actually, Subcon is a world that can only be accessed through dreams, so it really happened. At least, I'm pretty sure.
-
^ Are you responding to the first post of the topic, or what?

Yeah, it's like Imaginationland.
-
IMAGINAAAAATIOOON IMAGINAAGINAAAAATIOON IMAGINAAATION lol
-
A dream can be a dream come true, with just that spark in me and you!
-
It even has Mario and Wario!
-
Imaginationland had a Bowser knockoff too.
