Title: Mario Changes Professions (Again)
Post by: Super-Jesse on April 22, 2008, 03:05:33 PM
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fthemushroomkingdom.net%2Fimages%2Fblog%2Fmariocab.jpg&hash=0677e157c88a376b7da03b238c42ac98)

WHAT: Video game icon Mario™ treats unsuspecting New Yorkers to a free cab ride. Mario is in New York to promote Mario Kart Wii (http://themushroomkingdom.net/games/mkwii), the new Nintendo racing game that features Mario and all of his Mushroom Kingdom buddies. He’s helping commuters race through the city before they get racing with Mario Kart Wii (http://themushroomkingdom.net/games/mkwii).

Mario Kart Wii (http://themushroomkingdom.net/games/mkwii) launches April 27 and will be packaged with the Wii Wheel accessory, which lets players control the action on the screen just like they were steering a real car. The game also introduces a host of new courses, vehicles and eye-popping battle arenas, plus the ability to compete online with drivers from around the world using Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection.

WHO: Mario, everyone’s favorite Italian plumber, and excited (and grateful) New York commuters

    WHEN: Thursday, April 24/8-10 a.m. and 12-2 p.m.

    WHERE: Sheraton Hotel

    NEWS/VISUALS:

* Mario hailing down cabs for New York commuters
* New Yorkers queuing up for a free cab ride
 * Mario costumed character

I'm sure people will welcome the change from the stereotypical cab driver. At least, I hope they do!

I knew what this thread was about before I read your explanation, but isn't that title going a bit too far? Or rather, isn't it lacking detail?

There, now it's perfect just like you Suffix.

It may just be because Super-Jesse is around, but Mario Kart Wii seems waaaaaaaaay over-hyped.

I may sound uppity at times, but don't spite me. Especially not by obscuring the news further!

I'm trying to avoid as many MKWii posts as possible, but I can't help it if it's the talk of the town.

New idea: Next Mario Kart needs to be a Crazy Taxi-style game.

I just visited this thread for the Robot Chicken reference.

I think that they figure publicity stunts nab the non-gamer better, or something... But, yeah, that game really isn't that much of a leap forward to be publicized as much as it is (I'm getting it and I still think I'll enjoy it, though).

Mario should be a guest host for Cash Cab.

I think you might need to cut down on the extravagant amount of news posts in general. Half the time it seems like you're grasping at straws for decent news coverage.

Seems to me like Jesse's just trying to make the Game Blog everyone's one-stop place for Mario related news. It's not really a bad thing, as it provides everyone a place to discuss news on the Fungi Forums-- which is an important function of real forums.

As it turns out, there's a lot of news out there, especially for fan creations. My position on yellow titles stands, however!

Mario news is all good and well, but there has been an influx of pretty insignificant front-page stuff in the last while. It used to be site updates and the releases of certain games... now everytime someone draws a mushroom on something, we get a topic dedicated to it.

That's the reason why Latest News and Game Blog are seperate.

I'm glad no one here has ever visited a blog (http://www.gonintendo.com). They all seem to think what I'm doing (http://www.joystiq.com) has never been done before (http://kotaku.com).

Seriously, you should see the post I don't post. For example, kotaku posted about a guy that got Mario tattoo'd on his butt. Hrm, maybe I should have posted that....

Anyway, my point is that this is how blogs are, and if you don't feel like reading what's posted, you don't have to. I do appreciate if you do read it, and comment on it, and enjoy what I post. If you don't, that's cool too.

I'll post what I post until I'm told differently (hey, and I know a lot of you out there find stories about Mario online, why not send me something you feel relevant rather than complain about what's not, to you?)

I hope I don't come off offended, because quite frankly I could be doing other things that are more fun (playing GTA IV, or any game I have now, comes to mind), but I decide to post on here because I want to help out. If you all feel I am not helping your opinion of the site, I'll back off. I'm happy either way, and just want the best from TMK just like you.

Well, Coin Heaven did the same thing, and with that out of commission, this will have to do. Still, I miss being able to read insightful posts that dig really deep into Mario lore or reach heavily into philosophy using Mario as a hook.

The blog has certainly been useful to me in the past. Would I have known to preorder Galaxy and Brawl as early as I did if not for Super-Jesse? Nope. Would I have known that a commemorative Super Mario Galaxy coin had my name on it because I preordered if not for Super-Jesse? Nope. The kind I skip are like, "Mario Kart Wii was delayed in New Zealand." I'm not in New Zealand, so... you can understand why that one doesn't particularly interest me.

Exactly, that's perfectly understandable. That stuff is posted for that small percent of visitors from that area (when Deezer shows the stats for the sites, you'd be surprised what's there).

I'll try to cut back on"OMG THIS GUY DREW MARIO...ON THE FLOOR WHOA!", I can see where it can get ridiculous, of course. The problem is there is a fine line, and crossing it sometimes happens.

Except Weekend Movie and a (delayed, due to stomach virus, ugh...) Game Cakes entry soon. <---- (Just like BirdPerson avoids New Zealand posts like the plague, if this is too pointless/irrelevant for you, just do the same :-P)
