I highly support Terranigma for VC release.

That's kind of a weird list for the NP staff.

Although Rocket Knight Adventures is a great game.

I agree that Wily Wars is a pretty weird choice. The Genesis versions of MM1-3 might have had somewhat of a graphical edge (not much), but the control and physics were all messed up.

Reader results are amazing, though I find the lack of Star Fox 2 disturbing, but you can't win them all I guess. EarthBound in 1st, that's awesome.

But yeah, the NP staff's choices are strange. Although Terranigma might be good (third in the Soul Blazer trilogy. Illusion of Gaia was the second), and at least they included Super Mario RPG on that list.

Post by: Chupperson Weird on April 29, 2008, 11:53:53 AM
Terranigma is supposed to be excellent, and I would like to be able to play it in English without emulating it on a computer.
Star Fox 2 needs to come out too, although that might require better emulation than they have right now. But it might not.

I'm still waiting for the first Star Fox.

Wait...did they completely finish Star Fox 2 before canning it?

Pretty much.
Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results
Post by: CrossEyed7 on April 29, 2008, 02:34:37 PM
From what I hear, Star Fox is still pretty tough for us to emulate accurately, so there's a good chance Nintendo is running into problems with it, too. If they're actually trying, that is.
Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results
Post by: Chupperson Weird on April 29, 2008, 05:34:27 PM
Star Fox emulation was reasonably perfected a long time ago. Granted, Star Fox 2 uses the Super FX 2 rather than just Super FX, but still.
And yeah, Star Fox 2 was finished. I would argue that it's more fun and has better music than the original. Too bad they decided to shelf it in favor of Star Fox 64.

Random observation. All of the games on that list except for Majora's Mask are RPGs. ...Oh well! *has recently started playing Chrono Trigger and runs off to play more*

Edit: Well, I feel silly. NP basically said the same thing. Guess I should've waited until I had the issue before posting.

4. Mother (Japan only/NES)

Release it [in] America as well.

Release it ****ing America as well.
What is up with all this starred out cussing lately? It's not that hard to just use a more decent word to get your point across.

I wish they'd have included six through ten.  I beat we'd have seen some platform games and maybe some nonRPG imports if they did.

BTW, my votes were for:
1. Duck Tales (NES)
2. Megaman 2 (NES)
3. Tetris Attack (SNES)
4. Mario & Wario (import)
5. Earthbound/Mother (import)

I wish  Nintendo would release Majora's Mask. I would buy it in a heartbeat (well a pretty long heartbeat because I'd have to go to target and buy a wii points card first)

Holy moley, it's about time. Then they should honor the others on the top three, Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger, at some later time.

Well, now that that accomplishment's out of the way... I'd like to argue for Star Fox 2 next, even if any technical hurdles exist that need to be overcome.

Perhaps they'll make it a WiiWare game, since it was never actually released.

BTW, apparently this is going to be a monthly thing for NP from now on, so keep voting. This time I voted for EarthBound, Mother, Plok, Mario RPG, and Banjo-Tooie. And I also told them this:

Quote from: CrossEyed7
Yeah, I'm another of those crazy EB fans that you guys are so used to by now. I shouldn't have to explain why this game deserves to be on the VC, I'll just say this: you've ESRB'd it, don't let us down now. How about a Mother's Day present? Please? I'll actually be away from my internet connection on Mother's Day, and throughout the summer, but if EB comes out, I will sneak my Wii into the library and use their internet to download it. Yeah, I'm that hardcore.

I haven't got the new issue yet.  Are they still using vcpoll@futureus.com ?  Should we resubmit ones that already made the top five?

Now that PPL is coming out I guess I can remove TA from my list.

Edit:  I'll vote for the following next time.

Duck Tales - NES
Megaman 2 - NES
Mario & Wario - Super Famicom w/ mouse
Kirby Super Star - SNES
Shadowgate - NES

Same address, and requesting games that already got in the top 5 should be fine. In fact, you should probably keep voting for some of the same ones to keep them in the top 5, so NoA knows it's not just a fluke.

Is Duck Tales really that good?  In my experience, any games based on TV/Movies have stunk (especially Disney).  But I've never played it, so I could be wrong.

Wily Wars?

They could just release all of the seven Mega Man games for Nintendo systems and would probably sell more instead of a compilation.

Here's what I think would be awesome (i'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to mention something like this, but Br26 just made me think of it): Make it cost, like, $200, but release a game that is a compilation of Link to the Past and all the GB(C) Link games... in 3-D. I know this is massively impossible, but I can dream, right?
Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results

Sure you can.  But if it's massively impossible, why torture yourself with the idea?  But then again, they did remake Chain of Memories in 3D (for japan... *grumbles*).

*thinks for a second* Oh yeah. Too bad I didn't see a videoclip or screenshot of that. But Banjo and Kazooie now look so deformed and ugly, and the game mechanic so out there and unusual for the series, that a part of me died inside when I saw it in action. This is not the bear-and-bird team I know and love. Maybe they should slap Star Fox across that game too.

... The article in NP that showed these results had the little line of text by it saying "Are you gonna take that Mario and Chrono fans?" It's like they are taunting the people voting for SMRPG and Chrono Trigger, two other great RPGs that weren't very popular in America. I'm personally wanting Earthbound and Mother on there but I would also like Chrono Trigger and SMRPG, it's not like I'm competitive for it.

I'm probably taking this statement in too drastically, but still, I find it sort of odd/annoying that they are taunting people over the VC poll.

Remember that Japan's Super Mario Bros. 2 was deemed "too hard" for American players? Well, then, why do Japanese players have an easier Challenge mode in SMBDX?
I think I've got it: It's not that Nintendo thinks one country's gamers are better than another's; it's just that Nintendo listens to people who whine about games being too hard and therefore makes every re-release slightly easier than its predecessor.  Just think: First they let Mario power down only one step, then they let him power up two steps at once.  I'm sure that after a couple more remakes of Super Mario Bros. 3, it'll be like playing in God Mode... but it'll look very pretty.

(By the way, that Super Mario Bros. Deluxe page claims that 942000 points fills the total score bar, but I found it to be much higher than that.  Like, over a million and a quarter.  Does anyone care to find the exact number?)

If my copy still saved games right, I would... but I really don't want to get that high of a score in one sitting.

Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results
Post by: ShadowBrain on June 01, 2008, 10:32:45 PM
Heck yes! All Nintendo games should, in fact. I've been looking for a time to say this actually... but I think that would really solve a lot of problems. They could have "Everyone" mode and "Gamer" mode (the Metroid Prime games had the right idea).
Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results
Post by: penguinwizard on June 02, 2008, 11:04:13 AM
There should also be "Newbie" mode. Even though I completed Metroid Prime 1, Metroid Prime 2 was a kick in the gut right from the get-go. That game's too hard for me.

Super Mario Land 2 had an Easy mode.
But Resident Evil GC had Easy, which meant Hard, and Hard, which meant Frickin' Impossible. Yes, I know RE's from Capcom. Maybe I've become so used to Nintendo's easy games that actual hard games comes as a shocker. It took me years before I beat Star Fox SNES path 1 (easy path), then I realized "hey, that wasn't too bad". Then I got destroyed on Sector Y and Fortuna.

Metroid Prime 2 was a kick in the gut right from the get-go. That game's too hard for me.
I've said it before, but... I feel like more of a man for beating that game (not that you aren't--I'm just saying).

Overcoming the great challenge of MP2 makes us feel more accomplished. The longer I go without playing that game, the more I like it. I need to go back and remind myself how bad the level design was.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it seems like the Virtual Console was probably targeted at people who didn't like the Game Boy Advance updates and just want straight emulation of the originals.  But I like the idea that the old games are still evolving...

It'd be ironic if the Virtual Console games were better than the actual Wii games. Seriously, there needs to be more options, more legal ways, of playing old games. Don't let them die. And don't upgrade them too much. The thought of Yoshi's voice for SMW2 changing to his modern Yoshi voice makes me queasy. But if the Baby Mario cry becomes less annoying, then I guess it's not all bad.

I think the VC is also good because it's given Nintendo a venue for all their beloved remakes. I mean, the GBA was loaded with those things (but, hey, they were still pretty fun)!
Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results

Remakes are always fun if they're done right, with only graphics changes, if any.

Level design change = bad
Censorship for modern politically correct reasons = bad

You are right that NOA doesn't do the mag anymore, but I think it's better now than it has been in years.  My only big complaint is the lack of order bonuses.  The only offered a smaller version of a guide I already own and even that hasn't arrived yet.  I also subscribed to ONM (Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK) until they changed publishers.  They did some pretty sloppy reporting and didn't have the order bonuses that NOA used to, but ONM came with some nifty bonuses in almost every magazine.

Thing is, I loved it until they did the whole "new look" thing. Then, for whatever reason, they were making all kinds of typos and factual errors, they used a grand total of four fonts, the posters were printed on cheaper paper, and they could never seem to settle on a consistent series of columns. Now, they got rid of the posters and sold out to Future US (that, and they can't seem to realize that the internet is getting people info these days. Translation: Stop doing those stupid teasers at the end of every month for games we already know about). I like GamesRadar, but I'm not resubscribing.

Updated!

NP's Comments:

Earthbound remains steady as a rock in the reader's top spot as their most-wanted Virtual Console game. Their sub-sequent picks remained predictable as well, except for fifth place, which saw The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask overtake Chrono Trigger. Both the readers and editors have remained loyal to their picks for the last several months, so to shake things up, next issue we're going to focus on the most-wanted titles for only one system. First up: the Sega Genesis. What games do you want from the house that Sonic built?

Pthhhh! They're just angry that Earthbound's winning.

I agree, and you bet your teeth I want a real cart. But I mean, playing it in SNES9x GX is cool until I have seventy dollars and absolutely nothing else I want more. That is currently not the situation at all. And if and when the game is released on the Virtual Console, maybe all the people who only won't play it through emulation 'cause pirates go to Hell will be like, "Well why spend $70 instead of $6," and in response the people selling them will be like, "Well if nobody's buying it for $70 I should sell it for less than that." You know how supply and demand works...

I wouldn't be so broke if I didn't give my friends money for food all the time. Oh well.

Well, we sell loose copies at work for about $55. The manual/guide is a lot more rare but it still only goes for about $15... Okay, I guess $70 sounds about right if you have at least those.
Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results
Post by: penguinwizard on November 16, 2008, 11:27:15 AM
I never saved my game boxes, and the manuals were always all over the place (I usually didn't think they were important). The one manual I truly thought was special was for Uniracers (or Unirally as it's known elsewhere).

Was EarthBound always in that huge box? If so, I wouldn't be surprised if it's rare (other than the game's obscurity). That's a good-looking box cover, too. I ended up getting EarthBound from one of the Funcoland shops, just the game, no manual or guide. There's a place where you can download a PDF of the guide, and despite the inaccuracies in it, I'd gladly pay for the thing. Stylish, every page is packed with information, humor throughout, and it's always amazing to see full maps of each area. At least the guide admits that Peaceful Rest Valley is tough to get through in one piece.

I'm still kicking myself for not having bought the real Secret of Mana game when I had the chance, though.

...wonder if Super Mario RPG is selling for $70 or so by now. Probably not now that it's available on VC.
That reminds me, why can't I find the U.S. commercial anywhere? I've seen the Japanese version with the singing piranhas, but the U.S. version had this old guy speaking of Mario's adventure as a legend. And it was.

Nintendo seriously needs to make a new Earthbound/Mother game someday. I find it appaling that one of the most unique Nintendo series has gotten so little attention. Three games - two of which haven't even been released in the US - do not do Ninten, Ness, and Lucas justice. Who cares if Earthbound is currently just a cult classic and not a mainstream game? A modern day revival could be just what the series needs - provided they make it a quality one.

Of course, there's no saying he could never change his mind.. but, play MOTHER 3. It really is just... the finale.

I'd like remakes. MOTHER needs a graphically enhanced one that doesn't play so slowly, and both MOTHER and EarthBound need remakes that have at least half as much detail as MOTHER 3 does. I was really surprised when the sequel to a game where most characters had four sprites total had so much detail that you could play through a good bit of it without even being able to read the text.

Now that I've played them all in English (and am almost done with the first one) I think it's safe to say that EarthBound is my favorite of the three.

Well, if Chef is right, than that stinks. I don't get it though - why do they have to end the franchise, or any good franchise for the matter? There's always room for new games, even if they are just prequels or spin-offs. I don't see what's the point of ending it and wasting any further potential, especially considering it's very original.

Actually, hey, he does say "for now." But he sounded pretty firm... and then tired when he says "for now."

But I do not believe that the Mario Sports or Parties have really been good for the series. Sometimes it's best to just leave it alone. I seriously don't want a thousand crappy games with EarthBound characters that only get moaning and groaning from fans. And if you want some MOTHER 3 spoilers to back me up...

MOTHER 3's plot begins in the world we know, with it being destroyed. It was the fault of humans, of course. A few people left the destroyed world to the Nowhere Islands, the only place that was not destroyed. Removing their memories of the old world, they built a small utopian community--low-tech, yes, but it was perfect in terms of society. Pokey shows up with technology, money, greed, and the islands slip into the same fate as the old world, but Lucas pulls those needles to wake up the colossal dragon who destroys the islands and makes a new, fresh world in its place. But everyone survives. What happens then? Well... I don't see a lot of room for continuation. That is, if MOTHER 4 were to have any relation to the rest of the games at all. Everything from each game has been taken care of... MOTHER 3 didn't leave any villains escaping to other time periods or anything.

Super Mario RPG has never been a $70 game because it is nowhere near as rare or obscure as EarthBound. It goes for about $35.

DS, very yes.  DSi, no.  I have my reasons. Unfortunately, those resons would only encourage Nintendo to do it DSi exclusive (if they ever plan on rereleasing the Mother series at all).

Spinoffs don't always have to mean party games, you know. Take the Paper Mario series - it's technically a spinoff, but it's also a very good series. Actually, the Wario and Donkey Kong series could be considered spinoffs too, as the staring characters originated in Mario games.

Also, I see your point Kojinka, but didn't Nintendo say somewhere that the new DSi games would be backward compatible? Correct me if I'm wrong - I can't remember.

You could consider Mario a "spinoff" of Donkey Kong.

Kojinka, there's no such thing as DSi exclusive. Some games might contain DSi-exclusive features, but will play on all DSes as far as I know.

The difference... Paper Mario is an RPG series that uses characters and the style from an adventure game series. EarthBound's already an RPG, so the backward would be to make a platformer based on it? But EarthBound is all in the writing... I can only imagine a modern platformer with EarthBound's style being like a new StarTropics game (which I would love to see). Or do you propose more RPGs be made centering around other characters? Mmmmmggghhhhhhh....

I think that the series is better off as just a trilogy. Quality is better than quantity, am I right? It'd suck if Itoi tried milking his brain and ran out of good material just for the sake of putting out more games. I mean, not that he isn't Superman, but his job with the series is done. They're masterpieces and they don't have to be turned into halfhearted money machines, even if (like the Mario series) a masterpiece comes 'round every few games. I feel the same way about Harry Potter. All is said and done.

I'm sorry so many of my recent posts have been so long.

No, but there's a good chance it's what Nintendo would go with. Otherwise they'd have to spend money on it and would be expected to make at least a minimal effort to make people aware of it, neither of which they've seemed to be interested in lately when it comes to the Mother series.

I see your point about quantity over quality, but it doesn't always have to be one or the other. I can think of at least one Nintendo series that keeps getting new games and continues to rock (Hint, it begins with M and ends with a troid).

Actually, I though MP3 was the best of the Prime trilogy, because it had a more defined storyline, actual voice acting, and a far better control scheme. Wii remote > analog stick for playing first person games.

UPDATED

NP's Comments:

It's unanimous-the readers and editors agree that the highly acclaimed entry in the Castlevania series, Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, is the TurboGrafx game most in need of a Virtual Console debut. It's out in Japan, so what's Konami waiting for? The readers and editors were in surprising agreement on the remainder of their lists as well, which include some of the biggest cult classics in the TurboGrafx library. The TurboGrafx has a pretty big prescence on Virtual Console, but there's clearly room for more.

(Earthbound-What's NINTENDO waiting for?)

JANUARY ISSUE:
Reader's Most Wanted (TurboGrafx Only):
1. Dracula X: Rondo of Blood
2. Ys IV: Dawn of Ys
3. Snatcher
4. Legendary Axe
5. Final Lap Twin

UPDATE!

NP's Comments:

Mother, the NES predescssor of the Super NES RPG Earthbound was shown in North America many years ago but never released. The readers want the game to finally get its due and come to the West, as evidenced by Mother's place atop thier most wanted NES Virtual Console games list.

Vote for NeoGeo games this month!

And the month after that, Nintendo 64 games will be featured.

Sorry, but when they say "Vote for ___ games this month!", it sounds like "We know you all want Mother. So let's change the topic!" Even though it sounds like they can't influence or speculate on a future Mother release, I just wish they'd push it a bit more. Maybe say "We agree with our readers and eagerly anticipate the day when we can return to Eagleland. Our frothing demand for Mother increases."

By the way, I bought Secret of Mana from the Virtual Console, but haven't had time to play it because of classes and so forth. That's probably worse than not owning it, because it's always there, tempting you. Oh sure, sit down for a spell... then it's 3 AM the next morning and you haven't studied for that exam.

Wonder if Snake Rattle N Roll has any chance of being on the Virtual Console, despite being a Rare title.

MARCH ISSUE:

Reader's Most Wanted (NeoGeo Only):
1. Metal Slug 3
2. Mutation Nation
3. Nam-1975
4. The Super Spy
5. The Last Blade 2

NP Staff's Most Wanted:
1. Pulstar
2. Garou: Mark of the Wolves
3. Nam-1975
4. The Last Blade 2
5. Twinkle Star Sprites

NP's Comments:

When it comes to NeoGeo games on Virtual Console, the readers went with the safe choice- the thrid installment of the venerable Metal Slug series. The NP staff pick is anything but safe; Pulstar is slick but brutally hard. Both groups, however, agreed that classic shooter Nam-1975 and fighting game The Last Blade 2 are musts for Virtual Console.

Anyway, vote for Nintendo 64 games now, and after that, it'll be another All-Out Vote (Vote for ANY system game!) (Cough, Earthbound, Cough)

Heh.  That was the top of my most wanted from N64:

Banjo-Kazooie
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Pilotwings 64
Excitebike 64

Conker's is at least as unlikely.  I already have Rayman 1 & 2 on PSN so I don't need it, but it'd be good to see some classic Rayman on VC.  I really want to, but have never played Pilotwings.

Pilotwings is pretty cool for a launch SNES title.
Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results
Post by: penguinwizard on February 21, 2009, 03:42:36 AM
Took me years before I found most of Pilotwings 64 to be a cakewalk (I consider the "rite of passage" moment being getting a perfect score on Chicken Dive). And Wave Race 64 extremely easy too for that matter. Wonder if having played Wave Race: Blue Storm helped with that.

That said, my top 5 N64 games (Rayman 2's not on the list because, as beautiful as it is, I'm bad at the game):

1. Banjo-Kazooie (best adventure game ever)
2. Tetrisphere (The N64 version of crack. Sure, half the game is the amazing music, but I also enjoy how easy it is to get points such that it feels rewarding to score 50 million)
3. Blast Corps (destroying buildings is fun!)
4. Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (for some reason, I still think the original's the best of the series)
5. Road Rash 64 (it's stupid fun, but I never get tired of whacking guys with a 2x4 and seeing bikes fly through the air. And the soundtrack rocks)

That means I'm waiting for Tetrisphere, Turok, and Road Rash 64 to show up.

Pilotwings is awful. If Nintendo does for some reason put Pilotwings on the VC, I won't buy it. Blast Corps is an explosive title. Tetrisphere is pretty fun if you know how to play! I never uh... played Banjo-Kazooie.

APRIL ISSUE:

2. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
3. Donkey Kong 64
4. GoldenEye 007
5. Banjo-Kazooie

NP Staff's Most Wanted:
1. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
2. WWF No Mercy
3. Rayman 2: The Great Escape
4. Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber
5. Rocket: Robot on Wheels

NP's Comments:

One vote. One measly vote. That was all that kept The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask from tying for first place on the readers' most-wanted Nintendo 64 Virtual Console games list. Though the original Super Smash Bros. won over readers in the end, the NP crew stuck with Link's trippy solo adventure.

This month, vote on OVERALL GAME again. cough-earthbound-cough. After that, it will be the five most wanted RPG's. cough-earthbound-cough.

(To explain, EarthBound will never be released again in the US in its current form because it will require editing due to copyrights, which, while not being a problem in the '90s, are one now because of how sue-happy so many copyright owners are. No one at NoA will (can?) edit the game, so no EarthBound.)

Looks like we'll never get EarthBound on VC (http://earthboundcentral.com/2009/02/earthbound-legal-issues/). Apparently it contains so much stuff that could be sued over (not likely, but knowing the wackos out there today, it's probably safe not to take the chance) that it might be a legal nightmare to release as-is. I don't see how anything in EarthBound could reduce sales or hurt the image of anything else, and EarthBound certainly doesn't seem to take itself seriously.

Starmen.net has an article which also mentions the legal issues along with other depressing news. (http://starmen.net/ebvc/) They end it with saying the ESRB rating EarthBound was a fluke all along.

...so anyway, I guess there's something to be said for wanting a physical copy of EarthBound and the strategy guide. A PDF exists of the guide, but I'd understand if you wanted a hardcopy. It'd be pretty unwieldy to flip through the online version. It's not the same unless you're playing the real game on a real SNES with a SNES controller (or turbo or whatever). And the box art is cool too. I still envy anyone who has a Secret of Mana cartridge, it just looks good standing there. EarthBound was the last SNES game I bought and played on the real thing. The only drawback is that considering the amount of level grinding you have to do (or at least the amount I had to do since I'm not great at RPGs), hours of my day would go into battling slugs in the Deep Darkness or Fobbys in that one place. That's one thing I'd be willing to skip.

If that's the case, forking over 70 bucks for the game on eBay might be the only legal option.

Which is copyright bullhonky. The game is not and will never again be in production--at least not the English version. By "legally" obtaining it, all you're doing is blowing your money away to keep the old cartridges in circulation. As they break or meet owners who will never part with them, they become rare and the price goes up.

Better is good. Play it on the Wii with a SNES emulator.

I just remembered the Tonzuras, as they appeared in the Japanese version, were seen for a split second in Melee's intro.  How did NoA's 2001 legal team not catch them when the 1995 team was concerned that they resembled the Blues Brothers?  My guess is that since the Tonzuras only appear for a split second, and that they don't have the band with them, their attire could be seen as a harmless coincidence.

You can correct me if I'm wrong.  I know so little about EB.
Title: Re: Nintendo Power VC Poll Results
Post by: BP on March 19, 2009, 01:03:45 AM
For such a short time it wouldn't have mattered. It wasn't even implied they were from a band right there.

I actually liked that they changed the appearances of the Tonzura Bros. for EarthBound's Runaway Five. Gorgeous and Lucky remind me of Mario and Luigi in their red and green clothes. Especially Lucky, what with the Stalin mustache.

Anyway, it doesn't matter that most of the lawsuits against EB would be failures. It's the lawyers' job to avoid lawsuits. They're still expensive to have even if you don't lose. Lawyers want the changes, NoA won't have them (and I'd hate audio changes, too), so nothing. Go find a ROM.

UPDATED!

Since I have tragically lost my May issue of NP, and I was too lazy to update this when I was supposed to, could somebody please PM me the results?

JUNE ISSUE:
Reader's Most Wanted (RPGs Only):
1. Earthbound (Super NES)
2. Mother (NES/Japan Only)
3. Final Fantasy VI (Super NES)
4. Terranima (Super NES/Europe & Japan only)
5. Final Fantasy IV (Super NES)
NP Staff's Most Wanted:
1. Terranigma (Super NES/Europe & Japan Only)
2. Final Fantasy IV (Super NES)
3. Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Calibur (N64)
4. Earthbound (Super NES)
5. Soul Blazer (Super NES)

NP Comments:

Action-RPGs, strategy-RPGs, traditional RPGs-all were valid entries in this issue's most-wanted Virtual Console poll. Perennial favorite Earthbound took the reader's top spot, while the editors are hopeful for a long-overdue North American release of action-RPG Terranigma, the sequel to Soul Balazer and Illusion of Gaia.

This month, vote for most wanted Arcade games on the Virtual Console.
