For one thing, Nintendo has had a very good history of making great games that are actually fun!
Bill Gates (and Microsoft) are only in the videogame business for the money!
Nintendo is in it for the fans...
Sony is in it for the millions of 3rd party companies that are supporting them!
Xbox hardly has any 3rd party support. The logical explanation is this: Nintendo GameCube is more popular and has better games! Also, PlayStation is still Nintendo's lead competitor, and why would Microsoft want to steal away the competion just so they can make a few more million dollars selling a system that doesn't even have 2 good games?
Enough said.

Excuse me, aren't all companies doing what they do for the money? I'm not saying I like the X-Box, but I'd sure get one if they made Mario games on it.

and i hate to say this, but x-box is more popular and the better system, if silly billy studied sega's history a little bit carfully he would relise the extra's would wait and concentrate on gameplay and not the grapihics and other dumb stuff. which binds people right now thinking x-box will live forever, us nintendo fans look in the futter which we go for the around 100 year old company (you heard me right, nintendo is 100 years old, before games came out they sold game cards, does anybody know where i can find a pic of one of those cards?)

I thought PlayStation 2 was always the most popular... But I guess now that Xbox is here, Microsoft will take the lead and beat out Sony (I hope...).

Read this... It's about my theory of the upcoming videogame wars:
Nintendo GameCube will be the sellout system of the year. This is mainly because of the enourmous 3rd party support that it has recieved in the last few months. Also, Nintendo has had a very good history of making good, fun games; and why would they ever quit doing that?
Microsoft hardly has any experience in the videogame market. Sure they've made a few controllers and games for the computer, but a computer is far more complex than a simple videogame machine. Also, the Xbox is designed like a computer, and who would want to buy a new computer when you can play the same types of games on a Dell or Compaq?
Sony has been in the videogame business for about 7 years. Their PlayStation 1 was an enormous sucess in 1995 when it was released. Sony has made plenty of good games and their library includes some of the best 3rd party games out there! PlayStation 2 revolutionized the market with the introduction of a built-in DVD player, and Microsoft is simply copying what Sony did...
Also, Microsoft and Sony have not made a handheld game system to rival the Game Boy yet (the Game Boy has been Nintendo's biggest success). Although I read at an Xbox web site that Microsoft was considering creating a "X-Boy" or some other type of handheld system to rival the Game Boy some time in the future...

That is why I think Sony will take the lead along with Nintendo, because they have more 3rd party support and they have a bigger game library than the Xbox!
The only way Microsoft can survive is if they make more games that are aimed towards the entire family (children, teenagers, adults). That's what Sony is doing, and look at how successful they are!

Sega died... they are a 3rd party now. It kinda makes me sad. They were so good for so long, but then these big corporations came in to take over the market, and knocked a long-standing competitor out. That's not too good.

A few years ago if anybody asked we probably would have had to admit that Sega was Nintendo's most werthy competitor. But now after having there system fall they seem like there basicaly out of making consoles. I think Nintendo is the best. Of corse. But now there most worthy competitor would be Sonny. The X-Box may be new, but that's just it. It hasn't had time to make alot of good fans. Nintendo has ben here for years. It's had time to make fans. But so has Sonny. But I have had Nintendo since I was a kid. I'm most likely not going to change systems just because a new one comes out. It's called loyalty to your system. Usualy you don't change a system you've been with for years just because a new system comes out. After all the exitment of the X-Box being new fades away it may or may not survive. But right now Sonny is still Nintendo's mosr worth competitor. Why did Sega's system fall? Sorry I forgot to put on my signature. So here it is.
(My two favorite worlds in Super Mario Brothers 3 are PipeLand and DarkLand. PipeLand is chalenging. It''s for experinced players. DarkLand is the final world. There is two Tanks, one LavaShip, and one DoomShip to go through before you get to Bowser''s Castle. Them two worlds are the most changing.) (Please join Mario Survivor in the Story Board)

See, I agree with all of you. That is why I think Sony's PlayStation-2 will be Nintendo's biggest competitor, because it has the biggest game library and it has the most 3rd Part support. Plus it has recieved more fans than the Xbox...
The Xbox is still too new, and no one really knows if it will recieve the support that Bill Gates was hoping for... It only has about 2 3rd party companies supporting it right now. And that's not really good, considering the fact that Sony and Nintendo have the big companies supporting their systems (Capcom, Namco, Sega, Atari, Midway)!

Sega died because the Dreamcast wasn't a powerful enough system to get it through the race. It was only 64-bit, first of all (two 64-bit processors, they said it was 128-bit, but they lied), and secondly, it was a lot slower than the other systems (200 MHz compared to GCN's 455 and PS2's 300).

But it had the best games next to Nintendo
plus it was the first system to rip pc games to play on it like
doom
wolf 3d
quake
working on quake2
Not quake3 it was really made for dreamcast.

I will now rate some game systems from 1 to 10(ten is the best).
XBox- 1 and two thirds
PlayStation-3
Sega (all)-4
PlayStation2-5
NES-9
GameCube-8
GBA-10 (for remakes of old games that I like)

You're wrong about the reason Sega DreamCast died.
Sega DreamCast came out in 1998, Nintendo 64 was still around and no one had known about the GameCube or Xbox yet. The DreamCast was doing extremely well, it had a ton of support from 3rd party companies and had some of the best graphics ever!
Fastforward to 2000, PlayStation 2 was released in October, immediately selling out within 24 hours. Sega DreamCast had sold out when it was released, but there were not enough systems shipped at that time. Sony had shipped twice as many PS2's so they obviously sold more... PS2 also came with a built in DVD player, DreamCast did not.
DreamCast did have an Internet connection (it was the first console to use the Internet)! Called SEGAnet, the service allowed gamers to play DreamCast games over the Internet!
The only reason DreamCast died was because of the PS2 being launched... If Sony had never made a PS2, then Sega would still be in the competition!
