Title: Haiku
Post by: Glorb on June 14, 2006, 09:03:38 AM
When I'm bored, I do haiku.

I ate an old shrimp
Later, I used the toilet
Old shrimp is quite bad

Once there was a guy
And then he got in his car
But was pulled over

Princess, oh, Princess.
The great dangerous perils,
Which I face for you.

Inspired by the Mario games and the Zelda games.

In shcool we were made to do 3 Haikus, one traditional/of a season, one about something beautiful, and one irregular. I ended up writing PILES of them, seemingly on command.
Season (I did one of each and settled for spring's):

Spring is almost here.
Poisonous plants sprout from dirt.
Run for your short lives!

(Summer)
No more listening!
I can't wait to sleep al day!
Up till 3 A.M.

Leaves fall off of trees.
Islanders run from palm trees.
They might get flattened.

Fog makes the cars crash.
Cold makes the children complain.
Christmas brings me joy.

Others:

This is a haiku.
You really shouldn't read this.
Well, too late, you're done...

I hate these poems.
They are aggravating.
I just wrote one more.

Paper is so flat
though it wasm once a thick tree.
Flimsy as can be.

So many school thing.
They're driving us all insane!
I just blew a fuse...

My room is dirty.
I wish it would clean itself.
I'll do it later.

(Upon completing my science fair oard the night before its due date)
This board really sucks...
but at least I got it done.
No more worrying.

I know I had more somewhere... The "Beautiful" one had to do with a DS... I'll do some, right now, off the top of my head.

Nintendo is cool.
Go get yourself a DS.
You'll thank me later.

This is TMK.
All Mario, all the time.
Isn't that awesome?

Welcome to the board.
Deezer is feeding me bread!
Here, have some Febreze.

Oh, yeah. Ummm... See, Hitler liked to kill "deformed" people, right? I think it's true that Hitler had only one.... well, just read t3h haiku.

Hitler was deformed.
Did he ever kill himself?
50% man.

Off the top of my head...

Writing haikus can
Be very entertaining
But it gets boring.

Super Mario
Brothers is a [darn] good game
I'll go play some now!

Saint Francis once said
"Pineapples go with pizza"
He was a wise man.

Don't you hate it when
People don't type properly
On boards and IMs?

Two plus two is four
See? I listen during Math
That makes me clever!

Now I am going
To bed to earn some good sleep
Snore snore snore snore snore...

The sheets are crumpled,
spread hopelessly across me,
while I dream of sleep.

I stare at the screen;
loudly the computer hums,
but silent am I.

Clouds lie so softly,
nestled on a hidden ground,
up above us all.

Run through Bowser's feet.
Then, um, jump on the big axe.
Darn it, it's just Toad.

Nintendo is cool.
Sony is very evil.
Get a Wii insted.

That's all I could think of.

I shouldn't assume. As usual, I am wrong. But being not wrong...

Well, it results in... being fed that stuff of doom. Wouldn't want that, no...

This song is pretty.
It's performed by The Sundays;
the singer's British.

At least she has an accent.

Haikus have three lines
They don't have to rhyme
Some are irregular
Just like this one

I know this doesn't really count, but, eh, whatever.

Like the moon over
the day, my genius and brawn
are lost on these fools.

Bowser wrote that one and he recites it in SMRPG after you beat the Factory's Manager.

It's pretty good, but but M&L and PM were a bit better, in my opinion. SMRPG was too much Square, and not enough Nintendo. It was also made at a time when the stuff that made a Mario game were very specific and the story and characters weren't important, which is why Square had to fill that void on their own. Thus, it wasn't as refined as the stuff in PM and M&L, which came from Nintendo themselves, in a time where the personality of the characters and plot elements are already determined, making it easier to produce a spot-on, Mario-based game.

Many haikus that have something to do with your computer crashing.

Your file was so big.
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.

The Web site you seek
Cannot be located, but
Countless more exist.

Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Program aborting:
Close all that you have worked on.
You ask far too much.

Windows NT crashed.
I am the Blue Screen of Death.
No one hears your screams.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

First snow, then silence.
This thousand-dollar screen dies
So beautifully.

With searching comes loss
And the presence of absence:
"My Novel" not found.

The Tao that is seen
Is not the true Tao-until
You bring fresh toner.

Stay the patient course.
Of little worth is your ire.
The network is down.

A crash reduces
Your expensive computer
To a simple stone.

Three things are certain:
Death, taxes and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.

You step in the stream,
But the water has moved on.
This page is not here.

Out of memory.
We wish to hold the whole sky,
But we never will.

Having been erased,
The document you're seeking
Must now be retyped.

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

That's the part of SMRPG that amazes me most. For 1996, the plot and story were thought out so well. Square was risking Mario's reputation by giving him the personality that has stuck with him since then--the strong, silent type. Yes, PM:TTYD has the best story EVER, but PM's story is just BLAND compared to SMRPG.

CTOAN: Those are great. Had those been posted while I was still in shool, I'd tack them to the computer room wall at school.

I still think the plot was a bit too Square-ish. And I thought Nintendo based Mario and Luigi's personalities on their cartoon incarnations.

CTOAN: XD  Sad but funny.

Okay... now that I think of it, I think "loser" was a bit harsh. "Buddy" is much nicer.  I love SMRPG but I also love Paper Mario 2 and there are some aspects of the game that I think are better than RPG.  And I bet that the other ones are great too. (However I still like the 3 person battles and the special attacks)  I hope that will be a game you can download on the Wii.  I bet it could be rated E10+ because of the innuendo. :(

Wii will, Wii will rock
you.  Rock you.  Wii will, Wii will
rock you.  Rock you.  Uh!

It is hard to think
when the loudest thing in here
IS THIS COMPUTER!

It's like a bazillion decibels of droning, it makes listening to music hard!

It isn't all that easy
to create haikus...

Off the top of my head...

Once upon a time
There was a guy named Knifey
He sure liked his knife

Ow, it really hurts
When I type this haiku. Why?
I broke my finger

I really did break my finger the other day. Someone threw a baby doll at me.
