Resident Evil or House of The Dead?

So I'm going to get a rail shooter for Wii, and I can't decide between Resident Evil and House of the Dead.

-Resident Evil was made for Wii.
-I've never played it before.
-I'd like to look into REs storyline.
-I've always wanted to play a RE game.

-House of the dead is $10 cheaper.
-HOTD has two games instead of one.
-HOTD is not made for wii, only a port
-I've played HOTD2, but not HOTD3.

So which one should I get?

I can tell you from personal experience that Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is a dynamite game. But I can't see you going wrong with the other one, either.

Well, UC is a better value; expect to get a much longer playtime with it than with both HOTDs combined. The graphics and overall production values are higher, and in all it's really really awesome. However, I wouldn't recommend it as a starting point for those new to RE; if possible, try getting RE4 for Wii first (it's cheaper than either game) and then Umbrella Chronicles (not for storyline reasons, but because it just seems to flow better that way). If you can get all three of them really cheap, that'd obviously be the best route.
