My mom might buy me a wireless router, in order for me to have Wi-Fi Wii. But right now, being nervous and estranged to anything technological, she is convinced that said wireless router will have terrible security and corrupt our home computer. What should I say to change her mind? Any good arguments?

As long as you have a WEP key, nobody's going to access your network locally (except for those that know it). Remotely... most routers serve as firewalls, so you'll be safer in that sense.

There's no way the router will by itself corrupt a computer.
