I've had my PSP for about 2 weeks now. At first I was really enjoying it, but when I walked into GameStop to check out the game selection, I realized it is severely limited compared to the DS. Also, most PSP games are simply dumbed-down PS2 ports.

So now I have decided to trade in my PSP for a new DS Lite.

I already have an idea of the games I want:
New SMB
Super Mario 64 DS
Metroid Prime Hunters
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Mario Kart DS
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

A few GBA games, including:
All the Super Mario Advance games
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission
Zelda: A Link to the Past

Any other suggesstions?

People who like video games should also like Nintendo. People who don't like Nintendo obviously don't like video games.

Star Fox Command
Kirby Squeak Squad
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time

These are just a few good titles.

Thanks. It seems Nintendo has a lot more "pick up and play" titles for the DS. The reason I bought a PSP was to experience console-style games on a handheld, but handhelds aren't meant for that. That is why I want a DS now.

Does the DS have any EA Sports games? Games like NBA Live or Tiger Woods?

Wait, I thought you wanted to play good games.
That was a joke.

Thats too bad that you traded in your PSP.  There are alot of good PSP games out there.  Here are a few:

Ape Escape
Ape Escape Acadamy
Medievil: Ressurection
Wipeout Pure
Daxter
Star Wars BattleFront 2
Star Wars Lethal Alliance

Now I'm not saying the DS is bad.  But there are alot of cool games for the PSP.  And also the DS lite is really cheap and breaks easily.  I'm speaking from experience.
Probably likes Sonic games better than anyone else on the fungi forums.

If you like turn-based strategy, go with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA) and Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (DS).

Also I would heavily suggest NOT getting any sports games.

You should definitely buy Meteos, the two games bobman37 suggested (and, if you can find it, Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis), and SPAC3 INVADERS EXTR3ME. You might also enjoy Mario Hoops 3 on 3, Namco Museum (or Namco Museum DS, since it has Pac-Man VS and some awesome games the GBA version is lacking), Arcade Advanced (a Konami collection for the GBA containing Frogger, Rush 'n' Attack, Gyruss, Scramble, Time Pilot, and Yie Ar Kung Fu; a larger collection also exists for the DS, and contains some of the aforementioned games, plus Twinbee, Gradius, Contra, and a few others), the Mega Man Zero and ZX games (avoid all other Mega Man games on the GBA and the DS, unless you want to spend a bit of money on one of the versions of Mega Man Battle Network 3, which was the only really good game in that series), Astro Boy: Omega Factor, and Gunstar Super Heroes.

I agree with that statement. The DS phat is very sturdy and lasts a long time.

Pretty much the only thing you've got to worry about is scratching the touch screen if you're an abusive psycho.

I'd suggest the following:

Geometry Wars Galaxies
The World Ends With You
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Tetris DS
Contra 4
FFTA2 (I have yet to play it, but it looks positively radicalawesome)
Touch the Dead (it's actually surprisingly good, but an acquired taste; rent it maybe)
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence

Well, you could look at Nintendo Power's Best of the Best

1. Elite Beat Agents
2. New Super Mario Bros.
3. Mario Kart DS
4. The World Ends With You
5. Tetris DS
6. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
7. Contra 4
8. Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
9. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice For All
10. Sonic Rush Adventure
11. Trauma Center: Under the Knife
12. Professor Layton
13. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
14. Advance Wars: Dual Strike
15. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
16. Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword
17. WarioWare: Touched
18. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
19. Animal Crossing: World World
20. Cooking Mama

They put Advance Wars: Dual Strike, but the more recent Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is a superior game. They must be suckers for the old universe and nearly-game-breaking Dual Strikes.

Kirby Canvas Curse and Elite Beat Agents are really the two best games on DS out there if you want to see the DS do what no other platform can.

GBA games:
Namco Museum.
WarioWare: Mega Microgame$.
WarioWare: Twisted.
DS games:
Tetris DS.
If you like multiplayer shooters, Metroid Prime Hunters.
What's your problem, Cambodian?

To be honest, Dual Strike did have a lot more features than Days of Ruin, but that's about it's only advantage it has, as DoR does have the better storyline, characters, music, balance, and best of all, online play.

Also, no one has suggested Izuna, so I'll be the first. it's what you'd call a "hardcore" game, and the sequel is due out this month. Amazon has the superior pre order poster btw.
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

Kirby: Squeak Squad is fun, both easy and challenging, and has great replay value.
Diamond/Pearl are both massive games with lots of Pokemon to catch.

As for the GBA, I would recommend Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
