Deezer decides.

I think Minecraft: Wii U Edition should be the same category as what Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is. They both have some Mario environments, characters and music, but aren't Mario games overall.
Smash is currently in the "Crossovers" section. So, I agree with you.

Another oddity I noticed while looking at that page: why is NES Remix Pack in a different category than NES Remix and NES Remix 2?
(I think "Other" is the better choice for those since Mario games are a large portion of the gameplay. They're not cameos.)

I can't believe StarTropics made the list.  XD XD

I wonder about the possibilities of modding a cartridge slot in there. A NES with an HDMI port is something I've wanted for a while, and this might just be the way to get it.
No. It won't have any of the guts of an NES. This is just like a pre-loaded Virtual Console machine. But several companies do make machines that play NES cartridges through HDMI (RetroN 5, Analogue Nt) or more complicated HDMI mods to original NES consoles (Hi-Def NES).

I wonder if these things will be able to connect to the internet to buy DLC or even access the full VC store. It's possible, but I'm guessing NOT to keep both their manufacturing costs and complexity down. Anyone who would care that much probably long ago bought into the Wii/Wii U VC. This is an impulse buy product for total n00bs. But maybe they'll want to lure those in and then sell them DLC. I dunno.

The real gem here is the Wii-compatible NES controllers. I have no use for the full product but will insta-buy two controllers.

I considered both gameplay and plot reboots in my list.  (Star Fox, Star Fox 64, and Star Fox Zero are all versions of the same Lylat Wars)

I was not trying to define "reboot". Quite the opposite, I was just wondering what 4 Game Freak actually wanted, because Nintendo constantly resets both their series' plots and gameplay.

Does he want something drastic like Bomberman: Act Zero?

It's Wikipedia. Either of you could give it a page if you wanted.

Zip Lash wasn't great-tier, but it wasn't disagreeable. I wouldn't recommend someone go buy it but I also wouldn't feel bad for them if they received it as a gift.
You can't hold the slow-pacedness against it; that's kind of Chibi-Robo's thing. It was a game about scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush. The platformer is actually a nonstop thrillride in comparison.

The important part about Zip Lash was actually the amiibo. It's my favorite one!

What do you mean by that? Because they already "Reboot" constantly:

Super Mario 64 was a reboot
New Super Mario Bros. was a reboot
Super Mario 3D Land was a reboot
Almost every Zelda is a sort of reboot, with Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild being HUGE reboots
Star Fox 64 was a reboot
Star Fox Zero was a reboot
Metroid Prime was a reboot
The Paper Mario series has at least repeatedly changed styles, if not totally rebooted
Donkey Kong '94 was a reboot
Donkey Kong Country was a reboot
Kid Icarus Uprising was a reboot

Trouble is, Nintendo is in the process of making crappy sequels. Everything feels like it's already been done before.
No, they aren't. Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 are not the equivalent of Aladdin and the King of Thieves and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. They are A-grade, S-rank, 10/10 quality efforts that rival/surpass the best the series have ever been.

I can understand if you crave more new IP but Nintendo ain't "making crappy sequels". Kirby, Yoshi, Fire Emblem, (upcoming) Zelda, they're all suuuper good right now.

P.S. Splatoon is Nintendo's Frozen

Mario Chat / 1992 Super Mario Kart interview translated

Freshly translated interview from the Japanese strategy guide

Quote from: Miyamoto
That’s why, during the development, it was decided that no one would be allowed to testplay the game in 2-player mode. That was something the whole staff agreed on actually. In a 2-player race, it’s the competition itself that is fun—overtaking your opponent with skillful cornerning, for instance. That’s why, when we were making Super Mario Kart, we were very careful not to lead ourselves astray in understanding what makes the game fun. We focused our efforts on the 1-player experience: if that was fun, then 2 players would automatically be fun, too.

I just realized: we're never getting any of the fabled two-GamePad games are we.

...You mean there are people who didn't use the Gentleman's Strap?
Well then if you were using it, you should have been able to travel in more than eight directions.

Yes.

If you're including stuff like SSX on Tour, NBA Street V3, and Skylanders: SuperChargers, this should definitely count. It has an entire Mario world, which is definitely on par with characters in games like those. It also has sixteen Mario songs and over forty Mario skins. That's way beyond cameo-level.

From another line of rationale, if you have a Mario collection -that- inclusive and you have -that- much agony over whether to include a game, always include it. Otherwise you'll never sleep well for the rest of your life.

He meant it won't be a Galaxy or a 3D.
