With the release of Meet the Sniper, we have 3 classes left. Which do you look forward to the most: Medic, Spy, or Pyro?
My vote goes to the Pyro. Medic and Spy do have great comedic potential, but the potential reveal of the Pyro's true face makes it my most anticipated. Heck, I bet they'll save it for last. And Spy second-to-last.
-
Yeah, I'd enjoy Meet The Pyro, but it'll probably be last. I really hope the Meet the Spy video starts off like one of the other videos, but then it's revealed that it's actually the Spy.
-
Well, since I can't hear a word the Pyro says... yeah, that's probably the one I'd look most forward to. Valve has put out some awesome videos. A couple, not so awesome, but they're all great. I like them for their humor and the unbelievable attention to detail. If this kind of facial technology really is in Team Fortress 2... man, I'd say Valve has mastered lip synch and facial expressions (for video/computer games). There's just no point in competing with them, they are the best I've ever seen.
Meet the Soldier - Okay. Favorite part: Soldier chuckling to himself after recalling taking out the Spy.
Meet the Heavy - Great! Favorite part: His awesome line of "I have yet to meet one who can outsmart a bullet." This became even funnier in hindsight when the Demoman video came out and someone commented "He (the Demoman) outsmart bullet."
Meet the Engineer - Excellent! Favorite part: His priceless grin after he stops playing music to look over and see the missiles explode. I say it's a testament to Valve's animation and the personality they gave this character in that such a simple small detail can be so memorable.
Meet the Demoman - Excellent! This is just a tad below Engineer. Favorite part: The end part. He's setting up the mines. Heavy comes barreling through the corridor, looks up in surprise, a quick salute by Demoman, and kaboom! I was applauding him, it was a great trick. But then came the funniest moment of all: "Oh, they're going to have to glue you back together... IN HELL!!!"
Meet the Scout - Meh. What disappointed me here was how short it was and that the Scout's cocky attitude didn't seem to lead to much humor. Favorite part: The two seconds of Scout whacking Heavy with the bat. There's a really subtle detail at the end where the Heavy's hand twitches slightly. If they made that more noticeable, that would have also been a favorite part.
Meet the Sniper - Great! Seeing him stay in an enclosed area for hours on end, and responding when someone sighted him, were hilarious. But the most amazing part about this, which is probably what made the Engineer video so interesting, is that you feel like you're seeing a slice of this guy's life. He's all casual, it all feels real. Favorite part: Flicking the bobblehead at the beginning and saying "Boom, headshot!" Small detail that adds a lot to his personality and is funny in its own right.
I think the Sniper video did the best job at illustrating how Valve really has a knack for giving a feeling of reality to these videos. Like I said, seeing a slice of life. It actually seems like the car itself is really riding on a road (instead of a treadmill). Take a close look at the background at 0:14 to 0:23. Notice the background slows down and speeds up, suggesting the car's turning direction and that the background is really there.
Valve and Pixar really need to team up someday.

I choose...

Get out of this thread.
I'm looking forward to Meet the Pyro the most, partially because I want to see how far into the video the mask comes off, but mainly because the amount of humor that can be generated for a video about a character that can't be understood in-game is immense. Second-most-anticipated is Meet the Spy, just because there are so many different ways they could do it. Meet the Medic...it'll be great, but I want to see the other two more.
-
Well, Meet the Medic can be pretty funny if "Hipocratic Oath" gets mispronounced, Meet the Pyro can be awesome if he talks as much as possible (2x point multiplier if he sings), and Meet the Spy...well, as long as Valve doesn't count the Spy's disguise as getting its own video.
-
As of right now, I like the Meet the Scout video the best. Then Sniper and Demoman.
I'm most looking forward to Pyro, but for different reasons. I don't think they're going to reveal the man (or woman!?!?!?!?!) under the mask. And I think that's good. Keep that element of mystery there.
I also think the Pyro video will be funniest with the least amount of talking possible. I'm imagining something like the YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC_aGQyFETU) in which there are only taunts.
That's how I want my Pyro video: mask stays on, no talking, just visual humor. The Pyro is great for visual humor.

Get out of this thread.
Gosh Warp, it was just a joke. And a pretty funny one at that.
-
"A pretty funny one?" You get out of this thread, too!
With 70 hours logged as a Medic, I am looking forward to experiencing and expanding the German accented, ethics-come-second, always-bogged-down-by-keeping-those-crazy-people-together man's personality.
But if we get to see the Pyro's actual face (which I doubt will happen), I'd look forward to Meet the Pyro the most. We might also get to clearly understand how gruff her voice exactly is.
-
Pyro's actual face
For some reason I have always imagined his face looking something similar to Deezer's.
-
Time to set things straight, Samus style.
We've never been terribly happy with the Pyro, in particular with her shallower skill curve than other combat classes. (http://www.csnation.net/articles.php/interview_244/1/)
-
Pyro.
-
I doubt we would ever see the Pyro's face. So instead, I choose the Medic. It would be interesting to see what kind of gags Valve would pull off with the Medic's character. Heck, it'd be interesting just to see some of the Medic's character to begin with.
-
What are you guys talking about?
-
I have no idea.
-
I think it's one of those Halo Nukem games that the kids play, with the blood and shooting and dying and whatnot.
-
Again I still have no idea what anyone's talking about.

The game's been all over the popular video game blogs. If you still can't identify it, I'll only say this once: it's Team Fortress 2. The "Meet the" Classes videos (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=960&cc=US) are (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=997&cc=US) extremely (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=987&cc=US) amusing (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=985&cc=US), especially (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=5051&cc=US) to people who actually have played the game.
I am very well aware that I didn't link the Meet the Scout video; I hate that guy.
-
Uh...never even heard of it.

The Medic is funny in game, but I think they'll have to be really creative with the Pyro since you can't understand him and it'll be better for it.

-
I think the Sniper is secretly a girl.
-
A new Team Fortress 2 update is being released, and we'll get to find out tomorrow if it'll mean a new Meet the Team video! Last time we got cheated out of a team member introduction, but got a hilarious video of the inside of a fridge.
What do you guys think? Pyro? Spy? Medic? None of the above (meaning no video or a video like Meet the Sandvich)?
-
I hope it's Meet the Pyro (if it is a Meet the Team video). Maybe just maybe he'll take his mask off and show us what he looks like.
Nah.
-
Hey, Suffix...mind setting him straight?
-
If this is about "Pyro is a girl" thing, I refuse to believe it.
-
It doesn't matter. The internet told me that the last Meet The character video will reveal that it was the Spy in the videos all along.
-
Hey, Suffix...mind setting him straight?
Hm...I see. Hahaha...well, never mind then.
-
The Pyro's not a girl. It's two midgets.
I think we should meet the Pyro, Spy, then Medic, in that order. And maybe follow it up with a "Meet the Red/Blue Teams" reunion special.
-
Meet the Spy (http://www.teamfortress.com/sniper_vs_spy/day05_english.htm) was officially released a couple of days ago, leaving us waiting for only two more character videos. Which TMK member's character of choice will we meet first, Suffix's or Captain Jim's?
-
Meet the Spy was kind of different from the others. Kind of.
-
Wow that poll was wrong.
Also, yes, the Spy video was the best yet I think. They are visibly getting better at making the Meet The videos. People say that the characters accents are overplayed, but I can tell from experience that the Spy doesn't have a very strong French accent. Even when he speaks French it doesn't sound like a solid French accent.
-
Felt more like an actual cartoon/movie this time. I liked it.
We also got to see Scout's mom. Fun stuff.
-
The RED Spy had more of a French accent than the BLU Spy.
-
While I wish it to be my preferred class (Da Pyro), I believe that he'll come last. (Yes, I call Pyro a he. I actually think the Pyro is a genderless alien from the Roswell crash, but I still call 'im a he)
Pretty sure that Medic is next.
-
I think that Pyro will come after Medic, or maybe not. Either way, Pyro had better be represented very well.
-
Since Pyro is the big mystery character I have to imagine he'll be last.
-
I want to meet the Pyro! He shoots fire, and doesn't afraid of anything.
*I GTFO before I get tomato'd for whipping a dead horse*
-
Well, "he" could also be a girl.
Personally, I don't want Pyro to take off "his" mask and/or reveal "his" gender in the video. Part of the appeal of the character is "his" mysteriousness.
-
Wow that poll was wrong.
The poll is about which video will be the best. We won't know how accurate the predictions are until the videos finish coming out (approx a year).
-
Oh yeah.
-
until the videos finish coming out (approx a year).
And here we are darn near two years later with no more vids.
But the reason I'm posting here is because some dude visited Valve and said Meet the Medic is almost complete.
So Pyro is indeed last.
-
Meet the Medic is out on Thursday. Should be good.
-
I'm surprised Valve is bothering to make the remaining videos. The fact that it takes them two years to make a three-minute video doesn't bode well for Episode 3 being released this millennium.
-
Anyone else notice that WeeGee seems to mention Gabe Newell and Ep 3 a lot? Has he ever even played a Valve game?
-
I'm surprised Valve is bothering to make the remaining videos.
Millions of ravenous customers demand it.
-
Anyone else notice that WeeGee seems to mention Gabe Newell and Ep 3 a lot?
And your point is...?
-
Just seems weird to care about them but not, like, care about them.
-
I also talked about the earthquake in Japan, despite the fact that I don't live there. Is that weird as well?
Back on topic: If the Pyro is revealed to be female, you will have to down a shot of your own urine. Agreed?
-
What? That's not even close to the same thing.
-
Yeah, bad analogy. You can express sympathy for Japan but it seems a little silly to constantly talk about games you've never played.
-
How many of the people who joked about Duke Nukem Forever for the last thirty years have any intention of buying it now? Because I don't.
-
Also, all things considered, making 3 minute videos is probably lower on the list of things that need doing than upkeep and actual game development. Alternatively, it might be difficult to come up with good German Doctor jokes.
-
At least ones that don't involve Mengele.
-
Alternatively, it might be difficult to come up with good German Doctor jokes.
Supposedly Meet the Medic is the best one yet.

Warning: Actual heart failure may occur as a result of watching this video. It truly is the best Meet the Team video yet.
-
I thought it was very good, and made me lol, but I think I like Meet the Spy a little better. I love all of them.
-
See you guys in three years when "Meet the Pyro" comes out!
-
I certainly hope it doesn't take that long. Before the Meet the Spy/Meet the Medic gap, we generally had to wait a few months.
-
FINALLY (http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=8260)
-
Do you think anyone would care about TF2 anymore had Valve released all the content on day one?
-
I don't know, it holds up.
-
What the heck? It hasn't even been one year!
Oh well, that was great. And I'm really hungry for McDonald's now.
-
What the heck? It hasn't even been one year!
...Since TF2 was released, in 2007?
-
I was referring to my Reply #61.

Do you think anyone would care about TF2 anymore had Valve released all the content on day one?
Uh, yeah, it's a great game.

DLC miniboss?
-
That's what I was hoping for, although I wouldn't call it DLC, given that TF2 just...updates. But, no such luck.
