Title: Roy Koopa's Overactive Imagination
Post by: Roy Koopa on December 12, 2001, 03:50:29 PM
Hello, everybody.  Those of you that know me know that I have a very overactive imagination.  Those of you that don't know now. For evidence of this, check out my "Theories" down below, or read my story "A Mario Adventure" or the story I wrote the most of, "Paper Wario: Legend of the Seven Socks."

Anyway, I post this because my overactive imagination needs some outlet, and I found answering that "Who is Dr. Sciencetein?" question below rather fun, so, if you have any questions about the Mario World like that--questions that really require nothing more than imagination and Mario knowledge to answer--go ahead and post them!  I'll tell you my theory, and you can see if it squares up with what you think.  If it doesn't, that's cool!  I often say the beauty of the Mario World is that we can all think something different and be right.  But, you may like what I have to say, too!

That's about it.  Post your Mario Universe questions here and I shall take a stab at them!

Morton Koopa Jr. is Bowsers son.  The third youngest, according to my aging them, though others say differently.

The Jr comes from the fact that he is Morton the Second. NO, Bowser's real name is not Morton, but his FATHER'S is.  King Morton Koopa ruled prior to Bowser's taking over.  Whatever happened to Morton is unknown, since Bowser was already ruling at the young age we saw him at in Yoshi's Island.

So, I believe Morton Koopa Jr is just Bowser's son, with the name of his grandpa.  Make sense?

Approximately how old are each of the Koopa Kids? And for that matter, how old is Bowser?
Title: Re: Roy Koopa's Overactive Imagination
Post by: Roy Koopa on December 13, 2001, 12:47:07 AM
Well, I put Bowser and Mario at about the same age, maybe Bowser a BIT older. In my opinion, both are in their early thirties.  Of course, this doesn't matter much, concidering that they are cartoons and will live forever! ;)

As for the Koopa Kids...A little harder for me to guess, cause I kinda like to imagine them all getting dropped off by the storks as one big package of punishment for Bowser.  But, just by looking at them and judging from their appearence, I'd say

Roy 16; Ludwig 15, Larry 14, Wendy 13, Morton 12, and the twins 11.

I put them all in the teen/preteen ages cause they seem to be more reckless and destructive teens than puny little kids.  Teens would pose more of a threat, anyway.  Heh heh.

I'd never really thought of that before, really. Good question!  Next!

I used to think that Bowser's real name was Morton and his middle name was Bowser. But I guess you proved me wrong... Though a name like King Morton Bowser Koopa would sound cool, eh?

Anyway, what do you think happened to the Koopa Kids? After Super Mario World, they just disappeared! Did they get killed at the end of Super Mario World? Or are they just hiding out in Dark World, waiting for Bowser to call upon them for their next mission...

I don't know, but the Koopa Kids aren't supposed to be teenagers.  There's a wad of koopaling sites, the one I work on is koopalings.com, but I heard Ludwig's the oldest: 11, and the youngest are the twins which are 7, but you know, Roy is mean but can get things wrong, what a kwazy koopaling!

Todd:  That's cool, too.  Like I say, when it comes to Mario theories, all are right!  I STILL say Roy is the oldest! Heh heh

As for the next question: The Koopa Kids are still live and kick'n! After their second defeat in Super Mario World, Bowser decided to blame them for his losing, rather than take responsibility.  He therefore decided not to include them in his plans in games like SM64 and Paper Mario.  But, it's not like the games show all that's going on!  The Koopa Kids, angry that the Mario Bros. could show them up twice so easily, have decided to hatch their own plans to show King Dad they mean buisness!  Those plans go unchronicled in games, but fun stories, like "Paper Wario: Legend of the Seven Socks" show you a glimpse of what the Koopalings are capable of, when they work together.

Perhaps when they prove themselves to thir King Dad once more, they will be allowed to accompany him once again.

I thin it'd be kool to see them in Paper Mario! 7 star spirits, 7 Koopa Kids! And, Roy does looks like he's the oldest, so i dunt blame ya. Well, they are obviously alive, becasue in Bowser's file on SSBM, it says about raising 7 kids, or something. So they msut be alive! Perhaps in Mario Sunshine....

Here's something else you guys'll probably disagree with:
Ludwig-22
Roy-21
Morton-21
Wendy-20
Iggy-19
Lemmy-19
Larry-18

Yes, they're adults. And besides, they appeared in Yoshi's Safari and Mario is Missing.

Since you are obviously the smartest perswon around here (and frostbite is obviously the dumbest, along with MARIO MASTER 3000), I have a question for you...

What happened to the Super Mario Land series?

After Super Mario Land 2, it just died off, and Wario took it over with his Wario Land games!

Is Nintendo ever going to bring back the Mario Land series?

Mama mia! It''s-a me, Mario Maniac!
Title: Re: Roy Koopa's Overactive Imagination
Post by: Roy Koopa on December 18, 2001, 02:03:40 PM
Pretty much exactly that, Mario Maniac.  Nintendo first had the Mario Land series as their GameBoy Mario outlet.  But, when they made Super Mario Land 3, they decided to pull an unexpected twist: put WARIO as the main character!  It was such an interesting change, playing as the greedy anti-hero, that rather than make Super Mario Land 4, they kind of morphed it into a Warioland series, and hence Warioland II came out.  Then 3, and now 4.  One COULD say that Warioland 4 is really Super Mario Land 6, but I think that is an incorrect statement.  The Mario Land series spun-off into the Warioland series, and the only shared title in SML3:WL.

Do I think we'll ever see another Mario Land?  Perhaps, but doubtful.  Wario is now the GameBoy "Mario" outlet, while Mario himself, with Luigi, still rule the home console department.

Well, I think Luigi is kinda standing in at the moment, but his personality isn't really one to want to be a star. He'll be happy when Mario takes the lime light again.

Any more questions?

Wouldn't it be cool if Nintendo made a game where you can play as Bowser and take over the Mushroom Kingdom? It would kind of be like Sonic Adventure 2... where you can play as both the good guys and the bad guys!

MICROSFT: Nintendo is so old, you should retire! You will fall to the wrath of Microsoft!

NINTENDO: Well, at least WE know how to make good games! Long live Nintendo!

SONY: I like cheese...
Title: Re: Roy Koopa's Overactive Imagination
Post by: Roy Koopa on December 19, 2001, 01:43:46 PM
Since Sega already did it in Sonic Adventure 2, Nintendo probably won't tackle it.  But, man, that would be cool!

Think about it: Bowser hatches some massive eveil scheme.  Play through as the Mario Bros. to try and thwart it...then play as Bowser and the Koopa Klan and try to conquer the MK.  THEN, to finish it off, Mario and Bowser must combine forces to defeat a greater evil!  Wait, that last part sounded like MRPG...oh well.  Heh heh. It would be fun, indeed.

Next question please.

Oh yeah, they'll definitly make a new Mario game with Mario.  What I hope they do is make a Mario game with Mario and Luigi as players, for two people, which it doesn't seem they're going to do.  Still, it would be good.

Yeah, I've played Sonic Adventure 2 on my DreamCast. It's really fun! The only problem is that Sonic is hardly even playable... You have to play as all the other characters (Tails, Knuckles) to fully beat the game! Sonic is only in about 30 percent of the game... :(

I haven't even beaten it yet... It's too challenging!

They are not rebels! Do you believe that every single goomba works for Bowser! No! And it's just called 'Koopa Troopa Village' because Intelligent Systems didn't want to confuse younger gamers by calling the village 'Shell Creeper Village'. They never actually worked for Bowser. You can't rebel against nothing. And I don't think that Cheep Cheeps actually work for Bowser. They just swim around and get in the way. And Watt, she was just inside a big Lantern Ghost, she wasn't actually an enemy. And they even said in the game, 'Bob-ombs have lived in this fortress for centuries'.Those Bob-ombs were friendly the whole time. Notice how they have cranks and can explode numerous times? Bowser just uses normal ones that explode and die. Oncee again with my analogies: Bob-omb,Paper Mario Bob-omb, SMB2 Bob-omb, SM64 Big Bob-omb is to Monkey, Chimp, Orangutan, Human.

Okay, once again a fight has broken out.  Man, these boards are a real blast to visit.  I sure am glad I came back. (I hope the sarcassism came through there, cause I was laying it on pretty thick).

Ignoring the posts of people just yelling at eachother, and getting to the question above, I believe that Koopa Troopa Village is indeed a village of Koopa's who grew tired of fighting and defected to the Mushroom Kingdom. They are rebels in the sence of they are no longer loyal to the Koopa Kingdom.  Same thing with the Goomba Village, though notice how only that one family lives there.  Far less Goombas are good than Koopa Troopas.  Perhaps their village will grow in time.  And I've always thought that Bob-ombs work like Bombette, where they can explode again and again.  Sure, they didn't in games, but I liked to think they did anyway.

Next question, please, and no more fights.

Actually, on this subject, I sorta agree with Frostbite. Not on the exact ages of the Koopa kids, no, but on the simple fact that they are, in effect, adults. Koopas don't take very long to mature, so they could be full grown at this point, even if they are just 10 years old. Why are they so much smaller than Bowser, then? Again, the Mario Comic explaination of Bowser's bloodline helps us out. The Koopalings are only 1/4 dragon. They are bigger than your usual koopa, but smaller than Bowser, who is 1/2 dragon. I'm sure that this isn't what Frostbite had in mind, but I'm not going to flame or bash him for it. Some of you people need to relax. Let Frostbite say what he thinks. His theories are no worse than anyone elses.

Whaaaaat?

My Daisy trophy never had a 3rd eye on the back of her head, and I've found like 15 of those things.  Um...  Does yours still have one?

Oh, and I have to agree with Frost Bite on a few things.  I think Koopa Troopa Village is just a village of normal koopas.  Not all Koopas have to fight for Bowser.  I mean, not every American has to fight in the U.S. Army.  There would still have to be Koopa Farmers, and Bakers, and Cobblers(hey, they wear shoes right?.)

And as for the ages.  Koopas obviously age different than humans.  They could be 500 years old, and in Koopa years they'd still be kids.  Look at real turtles after all.  They live for a LOOOONG time!  And Dragons are supposed to live forever.

Just my 2 cents.  Thanks for reading all that.

Although turtles do live for a long time (The longest living vertabrate was a turtle), most of them mature rather fast and do most of their growing in the first 6-10 years of life. So, yes, a turtle might live longer than a human, but the human takes longer to mature and grow up.

IF you believe that the Koopa Kids are 1/4 dragon, then you probally also believe that Bowser's father was killed. Therefore, dragons can not live forever.

Because I do buy into the whole Dragon/Koopa theory, I agree with what Frostbite said. Part of that theory is that Bowser's father is dead, slain by "The Mushroom Knight".

No, it's not that Dragons are invincible, its just that they don't die of old age.  I'm coming from D&D experience with a a little know how about myths and such.

Also, according to many sources Dragons mature MUCH slower than humans.  A 200+ year old dragon is still an adolescent I believe.

So Dragons take a long time to mature, but turtles (and therefore Koopas, I suppose) mature quickly. Exactly how this balances out in a Koopa/Dragon hybrid is up for grabs.

Well, the Mario bros are rather short. Exactly what their height is is unknown. They could be not-so-short and everything in the Mushroom World could be on a larger scale.

As for the Wario Bros not is SSBM, I am also unhappy that they were not selectable characters. Oh well.
