Video Game Chat / Re: What games would you like to see on the game cube?

Demon Sword was also for NES.  Unfortunately,
it doesn't work very well on NESticle.
I love this game too.

I have the vs. Mario Bros. ROM.
It works with NESticle.  The palette
is slightly off, but other than that it works
perfectly.  E-mail me if you want it.

In the documentation for NESticle, it even
notes that the ~ credit key was added
especially for vs. Mario Bros.

Game Help / Re: SMW Trouble
« on: July 30, 2000, 08:19:12 AM »
Ha!  This question got me a free pizza once!

There are many exits which have little or
no effect, and only contribute to the
counter.  Have you gotten all of the regular
exits on star road?  Have you gotten the
loop-around exit on Chocolate island?
In the forest of illusion, the exit from the
first map can lead to the haunted house.
An exit from the haunted house can lead back
to the first one in forest of illusion!

That is one of the most common missed.  It
doesn't even affect the map screen.

Game Help / Re: Really Bizzare Trick For Mario 2!!! (For NES)
« on: July 30, 2000, 08:13:11 AM »
At the beginning, you are supposed to go
down into the quicksand.  Once you are under
the wall, start jumping rapidly.  That is
how you can get to the door.
Down, not up!

There are other shortcuts.  For example,
in 3-1 if you go up the vine, you notice
clouds.  You can fly past them with princess
or use the mushroom blocks and jump.
It also takes you straight to the end.

Game Help / Re: Will someone please beat my record score.........
« on: July 26, 2000, 04:29:01 PM »
I saw your SMB3 movie for 1-1.  It was a nice
score.  Then I looked through 1-1 again.
That seemed like the most efficient way of
getting points.  I am completely certain that
I could beat your score, (you fell once,
right?  I watched it a while ago.) but there
would be no point because it would be using
the same technique.

My SMB1 1-1 score can also be beaten without
too much difficulty.  But it would be by a
few hundred points and would be essentially
the same.  I don't think that there is a
point.

Mario Chat / Re: Is anyone else sick of all these glitches?
« on: July 22, 2000, 07:09:23 PM »
Bugs in games can be a good thing too.
They can add replayability.  They can make
the game a lot more interesting.  My favorite
example is in Zelda 4 for gameboy.  You can
hit select to warp all over the map and
underground.  You can make things appear in
the wrong tileset.  Best of all, you can
complete the game in any order you want!
Think about the negative world for a second.

Bugs, like anything, can be good or bad.

Video Game Chat / Re: Are games losing their quality?
« on: June 23, 2000, 08:42:20 AM »
I think that whether games are losing their
quality or not is relative.  We grew up with
Mario and are used to that type of game.
Games are changing.  Personally, I like the
older games better too.

Game Help / Re: Impossible Maze?? Yoshi's Island
« on: June 14, 2000, 08:55:28 PM »
To get through the maze, the trick is that
the boxes are not for the seconds.  You
are supposed to push them in front of the
doorways (sewers) in the air.  Then you
can enter them and continue to the end.

If you need a movie (for ZSNES), E-mail me.

Mario Chat / Re: If you could create any Mario game...
« on: June 10, 2000, 07:33:46 PM »
If someone wants to create a Mario game,
they could just write it for the computer.
It would take a little programming skills
and a LOT of free time.

Also, with a bit of trying, it could even
be written for a NES or SNES, especially
with emulators.

Mario Chat / Re: Are you ready for SMB3DX? It's possible.
« on: June 10, 2000, 07:11:08 PM »
Yes, SMB3 Dx would fit on a regular gameboy
cartridge.  The original was 3 megabits.
A regular gameboy, I believe, can take up
to 1 megabyte=8 megabits.  The color gameboy
can handle even bigger games, of course.
It would definately fit.

I would love to see the extras Nintendo would
put in.  I wonder what they would come up
with.

Game Help / Re: Lands end of Mario RPG
« on: May 29, 2000, 12:35:41 PM »
To get past Land's End, go up to the
whirlpool and make the creature jump out.
Don't move.  After it disappears, go in the
whirlpool.  After repeating this a certain
number of times, you will get to the next
area.

Mario Chat / SMB3 randomizing
« on: June 25, 2000, 11:57:36 AM »
I posted this on the other board, but nobody responded.

How is what the enemies do determined?  For example: The Fire Bros. will sometimes jump and then spit fireballs, other times they will just walk back and forth.  How is it decided which they do?

Game Help / SMB3 enemies
« on: June 22, 2000, 05:10:14 PM »
I was wondering: In SMB3, what exactly
is the randomizing element?  (Some times
enemies start moving forwards, other times
backwards.  Most enemies don't even use it.
The Bros. do.)  Is it when they come on
screen?  Does it have to do with time or
what buttons you press?  I want to know!
