Mario Chat / Why is the Mushroom Kingdom dangerous?

I was playing Super Mario the other day, and I started to wonder: why is the Mushroom Kingdom such a perilous place with all these bottomless pits and moving platforms?

I understand that the Koopas and Goombas are enemies working for King Bowser, but why is the rest of the landscape so dangerous?

Mario Chat / Super Mario Land: New Game Shark codes

I was fiddling around with Game Shark and Super Mario Land the other day and I came up with two pretty cool codes. The first one gives you a "safety platform" at the bottom of the screen, and the other one makes the Star man invincibility timer last indefinitely (as long as Game shark switch is on)

Codes are:

017FBFC0 - platform at bottom of screen
0150D3C0 - endless invincibility timer

The platform code is interesting because the hex digits 7F are the sprite code, and it goes through the alphabet and every type of sprite. 81 is a [?] block, and 82 is a brick. FE is a blank space. Then the next two digits BF are the vertical position on screen, so if you changed it to BC, for example, that's higher up on the screen, and BA is even higher on the screen.

For the invincibility timer, I found that you could defeat every boss in the game except for the very last boss, the guy in the space ship. This guy you need to actually shoot as usual, otherwise you'll be stuck in the "boss room" until the timer runs out.

With these two codes you can run through the game very quickly. Be careful with the safety platform, because in some levels, you can get stuck between two tall pipes or other structures, where there was meant to be a bottomless pit.

Video Game Chat / Got a Nintendo GameCube- Which games should I get?

Hey!

I just got a Nintendo GameCube as a present from a good friend of mine- black, mem card, 2 controllers, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

My questions: Which are the best games to get?

Here are the ones I'm considering:
- Mario Tennis
- Mario Kart Double Dash
- Zelda WindWaker
- WarioWorld

I also have a Game Boy Advance and Mario, Zelda, and Metroid for it so I'm also kind of interested in games that allow the GBA and GameCube to be linked together.

So what other games should I get?

www.big-boards.com is a site that tracks the largest forums on the web.

Since FF has over 100,000 posts, it is close to being eligible to be listed!

The minimum is 500,000 posts....A lot, but I believe we can make it someday.

Mario Chat / Just got my first SNES!

Just wait, this is Mario-related!!! anyway..


I got an SNES on my birthday from my friend. Birthday was on the 20th. It was so unexpected! Wow! It came with only one game. Guess which one! (Hint: This is a MARIO forum!)

The SNES is so....dreamy....

Where can I get WarioLand 4 music files for playing on computer!? I've looked all over the net, with no luck.

Ok, I lied, I've found 1 or 2 files, but they're not the ones I want. (You see, some of the tunes I think are cool and I like to listen to.)
