Woah, it really is going to be that size! Really cool! That's be much easier to carry than the Cube.

We first found out from the front page of the USA Today that was delivered to our room.

I like how the Revolution logo contains both sizes of disc.  I'm still unsure of where the GC discs go though... what's under that lower panel?

I must admit that I was seriously considering not buying a Revolution, or even worse, buying one of the competitor's systems in the next generation of consoles.  But now I've been given the BEST REASON EVER to buy a game system, and the only justification I need to buy a Revolution.  Free WiFi Super Smash?  Gyroscopic controllers?  Who cares!  I'll buy a Revolution because it will allow me to download ANY Nintendo game ever made for ANY Nintendo home console, EVER!  That means I get to play all the games I missed over the years, such as...

Tetris Attack!
Paper Mario!
Majora's Mask!
Earthbound!
Star Tropics 2: Zoda's Revenge!
Super Metroid!
Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link!
Super Punch Out!

With launch titles like these, I'll buy the system for sure.

IGN says "It's a virtual console, able to download 20 years of Nintendo content. You will be able to Download NES, Super NES and N64 games. You can get every Nintendo game ever made. Revolution shares a vision with DS. The machine is just a tool for software."

Someone please pinch me!  This is the most insanely cool thing I have ever seen!  I'm just too shocked to say anything else!  I said in the TMK mailbag that I would love a system that could do that, and they did it in a way I never thought of! *stands on his house and cheers*

During the press conference, Satoru Iwata mentioned that the final design would probably be smaller, "about the size of 3 DVD cases" (in thickness), as previously mentioned on Nintendo.com

MB, I assume the GCN and Rev disc will go in the same slot, but you've seen more than me.  I am also under the impression that the slot under/beside the disc slot is actual a tray fro add-ons, but am not sure.  Will the Rev be able to play DVDs out of the box?  Maybe they will show it in action Wednesday, but I doubt we will see the controller.

*Pinches YoshisaurusRex*

Nintendo will also release some information about the controllers some time eventually in E3, because Iwata said so!

Current known features, in case you are too lazy to click on the link and check:

The ability to play all Nintendo games ever made for NES, SNES and N64. These can be downloaded using the Wi-Fi internet service the Rev has. The Rev will also be BC with GCN.

According to Iwata, graphics that will make you say "WOW!"

Wireless controllers.

Wi-Fi internet service, available right out of the bow, and also free. Requires no broadband adapter. (i.e. wireless internet)

The ability to play DVD's.

A thickness of little to no more than 3 DVD cases stacked upon each other. The Rev will probably be no wider than thay, as well.

The ability to be stood horizontally or vertically.

The above information was all talked about during the Press Conference.

That is all I can remember right now!

Hold up there, Tingrio.  When they say you can download any game ever made for the NES, SNES or N64, I think it's implied that they mean any such game entirely owned by Nintendo.  I seriously doubt that Nintendo will go to the trouble to purchase the rights of every third-party game ever made for their first three systems.  And, as Super Mario RPG was jointly developed by Nintendo and Square, Nintendo would have to purchase the rights to such characters as Geno before letting people download the game.  This is a terrible shame, since many (though certainly not most) of the best games for the first three systems were made by third parties, including SMPRG.

Nintendo is working with third parties in hopes of getting them to have their games downloadable on the Revolution.

Ouch!  Hey, wait I just noticed something.  There's not slots for controllers on the machine.  Does that mean that you can't use regular GC controllers on it?  Will the new wireless controllers have rechargeable batteries and rumble?  What about the memory cards?  How can you play GC games if you can't keep your saved information?  So many questions, so little peace of mind.

The future is now.

Here's a page with a picture.

As you can see, the Revolution DOES feature 4 GameCube controller ports and two GCN memory card ports.  So, fear not, you'll still be able to play DDR Mario Mix properly on the Revolution.

Of course, Nintendo has stated that the actual design of the revolution will still change significantly before the system is released, but it appears that Nintendo intends to include the essential GCN ports.

Awesome!  But I think it's kind of strange that the CDs go in the side while the controllers and stuff are put in the front.  And it would feel even stranger if the machine stood up vertically.  However, I could adjust to this (if I ever got it).

Ugh. It looks like it won't play GameCube games... my friend was hoping that if and when I got a Revolution, I would sell my 'Cube to him... but to tell you the truth, I'm hoping the Revolution won't be released until winter '06... I have $0 and I don't want the "I MUST HAVE THIS NOW!!!!" disease to hit me. I hope it doesn't cost more than $150, but it looks like it'll play DVD's!
