Title: Aromatherapy
Post by: Forest Guy on March 02, 2004, 10:04:01 PM
I know this is a risk considering all the tough-guy people on the forums, but I was wondering if anyone else here is interested in Aromatherapy. I personally like using scented candles or essential oils. My favorite fragrance I'd have to say is Patchouli. Then I'd have to say my favorite smell would be the scent of a summer thunderstorm. No, I'm not ashamed to admit I go to Bath and Body Works sometimes because they have cool Aromatherapy stuff and body wash.

(Oh, and if you're gonna come on this thread simply to call me a girlie-man or something, don't bother.)

Eh, propane smells weird to me. I don't like it or dislike it in particular. I also like the smell of Cut Wood.

I like toxic fumes.  Gasoline, glue, permanent markers, and paint, but only for a few seconds, or else I start to feel sick.  I don't smell them on purpose, but I like the way the smell.  By the way, what does toxic mean--*drops dead*

If at first you don''t succeed, try until you run out of syrup.

Heh, my fault... He's still a fool. Toxic means it's only harmful if ingected directly into the body.

"Anyone here smell cedar wood?"

PLENTY, PLENTY, in certains areas where I live. Cedar can smell good, but when it's burning it can smell good or too strong, sometimes.

Actually, propane is odorless.  They add ethyl mercaptan to it so you notice leaks and don't asphyxiate/blow up/etc.

Post by: Lizard Dude on March 05, 2004, 01:51:01 AM
That reminds me of a great story. My uncle worked for Texaco and he early on was in charge of adding the ethyl mercaptan to the city of Denver's gas supply. He dumped a whole container in, not realizing that only a few drops were needed per massive amount of gas. The whole city stank for weeks and he almost got fired!

The experiment tested the effects of aromas on human heart rate, to see if certain scents can relax or energize people.

We used lavender, orange, coffee, and eucalyptus. I don't remember much about the results. All I remember was at the fair, one of the exhibit's was "Tornado in a Box" and I got a nasty blister from the dry ice involved.

I think you should have used Skunk Smell in that experiment and when people smelled it, they came out and started yelling at everyone and were cranky for the rest of the day. Anti-aromatherapy, anyone?
